There should be a tool where you can simply type in a year and it shows you a big long list of important inventions and whether or not they were in existence at that time.

Guns: Yes
Telephones: No
Cars: No
Radio: Uh-huh
You get the idea: Yes

It would help for some quick fic.

Or maybe I just need to memorize the order of when things were invented. And then just pick a point on the timeline.

It's a start, the rest is subjective.

That's actually a pretty good idea. And I don't think it'd even be that hard to implement.

Ahum.

Remember the good old days where you actually had to search for shit yourself? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

I remember we had a set of encyclopedias, bought back in 1985 by my parents to help with school. I still remember those gold edged pages, the worlds of knowledge in them. I must have read nearly all of it by the time I was in high school. Of course, anything about Russia was already out of date by then but still, I loved those books.

When I was in Year 5 (6th Grade), I tried to write an encyclopedia.

I honestly can't explain why.

I had a set to, this old lady who babysat me early on in my life would have me read them and gave them to me when I moved away. I'd read them all by the time I was ten, which left me knowing a vast majority of what they tried to teach me in high school involving history or geography.

Same here, I loved the geography stuff. I could look at maps all day. I also learned all the rules to football, baseball, and basketball so I would have something to talk to my dad about.

Encyclopedia Brittanica, Comptons Encyclopedia, Brittanica Atlas of the World...

Yeah, grew up with that, back when there was no Google, and it was actually easier to find information in the books than online.
