Mars Hostage Crisis

The Stealth Insertion Fleet (Under directive of the Sazkarjhia Bureau of Clandestine Operations) came out of warp in OSS4912 (Known as "Sol" to denizens of the system) and quickly banked around. The fleet cloaked and remained farther from the system while a Samani-Class stealth corvette, Shadow of the Fallen, made headway towards the station. A small pod jettisoned out from the craft. Due to the Red Planet's low atmosphere, reentry was fast and worry of burning up was almost non-existence. The meteoric vessel fired retro-rockets and deployed flaps before it impacted on the surface. The hatch popped open and a swathe of black slithered out from it.

It was three men, each in black, shielded armor. The only thing of different color was the yellow visor and a white light that protruded from the shoulder. Each one carried a Type 4 CAR and a Type 60 MagRifle. They turned around and waited, eventually a bulky mass of the same black color leaped out, in his grasp a massive, waist-mounted railgun. They waited for him to join up with the group, and then one--presumably the leader--laid down a projector, a map appeared, their position pinged on a massive mountain.

"If this thing's right," the leader spoke through his comm system, "then we apparently landed on what the populous here call 'Olympus Mons', we need to head out for the base, which is in this direction." he finished as he pointed at another, red ping identifying the base.

"This is a covert operation. We get in, provide support, and await for pickup at the peak of Olympus. Try not to be seen, and if you need to go for a stealthy takedown, use your Type 60 or, in Tank's case, mini coilgun. I don't want anyone firing off a CAR unless we get into a firefight, understood?"

Three individual pings sounded off, identifying the acknowledgement.

"Alpha Squad, this is Shadow, report your status, over."

"Captain Maldin'kum, callsign 'Spearhead', team leader, reporting in." the leader reported.
"1st Officer Barsko'gum, callsign 'Powder Keg', demolitions, reporting in." one of the soldiers responded.
"High Sergeant Gamra'bum, callsign 'Short', tech, reporting in." the third soldier replied.
"SDF Heavy Unit 051321A, 1st Officer Kalosi'yum, callsign 'Tank', heavy weapons, reporting in." the heavy replied.

"Copy that, plan your entry and move out. The Collective needs help."

The four soldiers sent acknowledgement pings, grabbed equipment from the pod and headed in the direction of the base.

"You should have done cultural research." Said the guard, still speaking for Dmitri. "We understand you are just trying to help, but you speak of this preservation like you will take over our entire nation for centuries, then release it, but still control every single aspect with your legacy. However, if you leave us be and only preserve the genetic code of our species, then a lot of trouble could be avoided. Of course, if you refuse to allow only our genes to be preserved, then look at our history, you shall see rebellions with freedom as the goal, protesters in the streets crying for freedom, message boards, blogs, forums, all dedicated to the hope of freedom. Terragens want freedom, it is written into our DNA, and billions have died for it over the years. However, where there is a wish for freedom, there will one day be freedom, even if that freedom comes in death. It matters not that you are literal gods, infinitely more powerful than us, we will still fight for freedom. Be the fight on the battlefield or in the reception halls of Lakfakalle, we will still fight for our freedom. Even if the battles reach the asteroid remnants of the birthworld Terra, we will still fight! Even when there are too few Terragens left to ensure enough genetic diversity to keep the species alive, we will still fight! When Terragens are nothing more than a downplayed footnote in the history books, we will still live on, fighting for freedom in the hearts and the minds of billions across the universe who share our wish for freedom! And then do you know what will happen? It will come. Be it in a day, or trillions of years, it will come. That is the future if you take away our freedom to choose. We cannot speak for the Equestrians or Aeternals, and we cannot say if they too will present you with a similar compromise, but we can say that this is where we stand, and it is hard to sway a people as stubborn as us."
When the guard finished speaking, Dmitri spoke himself
"We don't want war, but we shall fight for our freedom. Go ahead, tear my neck to shreds and kill me, its what you came here for anyways. We may fail to see in the long term, but you fail to see the peaceful way to do things. If you could see that way, then we would have likely already accepted your help."

Meanwhile, the Empress and Boskop representative have begun trying to stealthily escape the building with the help of a few Human Cooperative guards. The two were hastily armed, the Empress with a rapid-fire railgun and the Boskop representative with a laser pistol. Funnily enough, they've decided to escape through the vents in classic action movie style. In this case, it is actually warranted, as there is a secret escape route leading to an airlock that opens outside of the pressurized dome city. The tiny group of five set out through the cramped and smelly vents, and they wished that the vents weren't universally considered the dumbest thing to use in an escape.

Vents

The Agents turned their augmented ears to the noise, and two of them slunked off along the vent again, bending and twisting his body in odd fashions. They came to a vertical transition in the vent shaft, and dropped down it, landing and looking around before scurrying through it and coming to a corner, peering around it.

Ahead of the empress one could see two human heads sticking around the corner in a curious fashion, before one whispered something to the other, then withdrew and slinked off down the vent again, activating his Hardlight Pistol. The other continued watching, and let out a hiss before speaking "Apply!" He said harshly "Where are you going?". An odd gurgling could then be heard from his direction, echoing down the vent shafts and through the tunnels.

The Supreme Draconian blinked at the human, and tilted its head in true confusion.

"We were planning for DNA and soul replication the entire time. Taking the DNA alone is not good enough; we must also take a sample of the soul in order to truly bring a race back to life, or they will be easily influenced to be whatever is taught to them. That was the entire plan, we never sought to capture or hold anything. We aren't even big enough to hold half of one of your giant nations. Why in the universe would you think we sought to control an entire nation? We only seek to create a replication that knows of the past, of the legacy, not of just a blank, newborn clone. You and the Equestrians both refused. We can't guarantee total sanity after the process is completed, but the stronger, better soul, better person, the more likely they will come out with either a very, very unnoticeable aftereffect, or a very major effect, but it means that the future recreation of the race will be strong and just in their dealings. Of course, your peoples just figured we were here trying to conquer you, and kept us back with a gun to our chests."

A new voice entered the room. It's presence filled it.
"I would never let you touch the souls of my children, or the Equestrians as they call themselves and are known to you. There history is preserved through me, there DNA is preserved through me, and there souls are. If they die I shall recreate then anew, and guide them so they are more prepared for the trials they will face again. Leave the Equestrians be, and if need be I shall recreate the humans and Kaiyou."

Mars Hostage Crises

Another voice enters the room, much stronger, authorative. One that could have been male or female, young or old.
Oh please, the great Faust. Can't even fend off a single biological creature with too much spiritual energy. Weak, even compared to the dying Goddess, that resides over the humans in secret. We know your presence, we were thinking before you were sleeping. We block you from our ships, our thoughts, our presence pushes yours away. Can't even make a race as great as the humans, and they were given nothing but a chance to evolve. The humans must be preserved out of honor, as well as danger. They overcome any obstacle with their own physical bodies. Near all else relies one some extra power. The Equestrians are particularly shameful, because they never evolved, they never grew, they never learned.

They were given power to do things for them, given knowledge and thought without earning it. Take the gifts all away, and the humans will stand alone, as the conquerers.

You interfere, Faust, and we will rid your presence. We need not to give creatures shortcuts, but rather a path to learn. Be gone!

Abruptly, in low orbit, hundreds of Corvettes folded in, quickly descending with weapons inactive, shields at double. Anyone that had some kind of psionic or magical ability could feel the pressure of hundreds of powerful minds merging, to keep the Equestrian Maker away.

The minds do nothing to halt Faust.

"You are indeed older then me, but that does not mean wiser. I have also never pursued you, I tried passing your barriers out of mild interest, but you resisted against it. Had I thrown my full power against your barriers, they would have fallen. The Equestrians may have never evolved, but that does not mean they didn't grow or learn. I gave them magic, but that was about it, maybe a thought here or a dream there to guide them the right direction, but nothing beyond that. I gave them the tools, they had to figure out how to use them. At first magic was to the Equestrians as Magic was to the humans, a odd force that was unnatural, but like fire they figured out to harness it, and used it. They fought off challenges of there own, the Griffons overthrew tyrants, the ponies fought monsters of great power. They all learned and grew. It is you who has failed to see what damage you have caused, the Dracs may have helped others sometimes, but they committed genocide and enslaved others. Maybe I need to inform the Haches that it was you who made the seeders, the ones who have caused senseless destruction just to expand. Arrogance and Pride, that is what you are. "

The Supreme Draconian just pauses for a moment, concentrating, and Faust's voice abruptly disappears halfway through her speech, clearing the room of the presence.

"There we go. She was getting aggravating. So, Dmitri, can we preserve your race?"

"The Allied Interstellar Federation will be the Kaiyouan salvation this time. We entrust this massive ship, the people inside it, the technology it houses, and all the politicians of the once-great, now fallen Makudan within human hands. Go now, before threats of the Immortal Caliber's destruction begin to surface."

Death of an Empire
Alas, with the infection wiping out the centers of the Makudan civilization, and the civil war razing the rest of the territories, it is safe to say that the Kaiyouan Race is closing in to be an endangered species. Communications has been lost with all planets, only the I.C. remains and will be handed to the ownership of humanity.

Vent shaft above Hostage room

The Umbrae Populus exchanged glances after the Draconian and Fausts little... Conflict. The implication that the humans could stand alone as conquerors confused them. The Saeva Simius were brutal warriors who lacked any such 'gifts', and the Sazkarjhit also stood without such gifts, along with the Sangheili. The implication that only the humans stood 'ungifted' was somewhat unfounded, and even if each race lost their 'gifts' most would be able to adapt at this stage... Save for the Equestrians as practically all their tech relied on it. In Comparison, no Collective tech relied on the ability of the Umbrae Populus to change form, and few pieces of equipment required the Triarii's psionics to work. And if they heard another mention of this pathetic concept of 'souls' they would almost certainly regurgitate their last meal. As Faust was driven away their brows raised in amusement and continued to watch, eager to see the Humans response

--END MAKUDAN UPDATES--

. . .

"That does it, frenum ri. The civilization that attempted to colonize our cluster, oh how the mighty have fallen. Destroyed by their own research paper, a little vial of nanites containing their very own taboo. Survivors, possibly forced to go under another empire, as far as we've read. They're a catastrophic failure."
"On the other hand, look at the galactic cluster from which they came from. Since they've recently died out, there's many land to claim that they've left in their wake. We'll be safe in our suits, so all we shall do is to purge the neoplasms."
"We have an additional reading on worlds within neighborhood of the remains of this wasted race. They have many resources to mine out, but as expected there are sentient inhabitants within these potentials."
"And what do you see on them?"
"Visuals from lightships show tall apelike men with an erect figure, averaging from five to seven feet. Hairs situated at only heads, specifically at the upper regions and at the jaws. Access into communication devices of their stations has recorded something that seems to identify them, but it sounds vague."
"Hiyuu-maen?" (Human?)
"Possibly."
"Should we prepare the viability test? If so, send one brute-type Raxus, but keep it shut down until the humans begin their curiosity testing on it, at which we order the activation of the mech and begin engagement. If destroyed, send a fifty of the normal-type."
"The order is taken, ein frenum."

Under Seas - Hiyuu-maen(?) Planet
A purple fissure opens on the seafloor, draining some amounts of water into space of which either freezes or evaporates. From that crack, one armored contraption larger than a normal Raxus mech surfaces, before closing the hole generated. As it did so, a large-scale earthquake, followed by a medium-sized tsunami, rumbles the nearby shore. The Raxus shuts down all of its systems except for life support, waiting for someone to come along...

Mars Crisis

The DeSpIC soldiers had heard reports that the crisis was resolved. The team turned back and fired their jets, taking large leaps as they returned to towards the foothills of Olympus Mons. The air began to shimmer as Shadow of the Fallen seemingly appeared out of nowhere. They leaped up onto one of the large wings, and popped open an airlock hatch. The ship fired repulsor engines and skyrocketed upwards, rejoining the rest of the stealth fleet orbiting the Red Planet.

Mars Hostage Situation
"Yes, yes we will." Said Dmitri "Sorry for that misunderstanding, always a danger in intergalactic negotiations. We request that we choose the best of our species through some sort of system, designed by us. Perhaps a contest. Besides that, I do not agree with you. Humanity is nothing special, we're nothing more than a speck of dust floating through the universe. It may be significant to us, but in the big picture, our existence doesn't matter. When Humanity is gone, nobody will care, no tears will be shed. Our death will most likely come from rightful retribution, after we fell back to our true state. The state of warfare, of conquering. That is what humans have always been, we just hide it with our shame, but we know what happens when we lose our shame. Billions die, all because we don't agree with each other. We are inferior, not superior, and we can never change that. We did evolve without any help, but we evolved to become a twisted species driven by our own desires. We can never be anything else. I honestly do see why anyone would ever want to preserve humanity."

Vents
"We are escorting her Imperial Highness Ablïarsec Néïc Dubleuscr Bœrh Parhynr Lamhirh and his Excellency Artilithan'Harashnuh'Releimpel to an undisclosed secure location until the threat passes. Please do not interfere." Said one of the guards, holding out his ceremonial assault rifle.

Aeternals
The AIF has made sure that the Supremes know that the Aeternals will comply with the preservation, but will not go through the same selection process as the others due to their small numbers. This has also been made a holiday, as they are the first non-Terragen full species to join the Federation. One has to wonder just how many holidays the Federation has, as they seem to just make every day one.

Kepler-186 F, Capital Medical Center
A medical research team swarmed around the strange object, scans were unable to penetrate the armor, though they suspected there was a living creature inside. Finally, the governor of the colony arrived at the room. The doctors ran over to her, telling her everything they knew, which amounted to almost nothing. They did know it was involved in the earthquake and tsunami, along with a wormhole that opened up on the ocean floor. Despite frantic warning, the governor walked right up to the thing, and looked at where the eyes of a humanoid would be.
"Welcome to Kepler-186 F. If you're genuinely in distress, then my people can help you. If this is a test, which is more likely, then let's get on with it."

Mars Situation
The Supreme Draconian opened his claw, and bowed his head, in an oddly Draconian gesture.
"That is why humans are special. You are the biggest nation, leading an alliance, the biggest this galactic cluster will, more than likely, ever see. You have no special gifts, and yet you are mediocre at everything, and in some cases, can go above and beyond at anything. I do not think any other races such as yours have had such a faction, with so many races, people, planets, and galaxies, nor an army that can match in size and firepower, am I correct?"

Then, with eerily silence, the Draconian turned his head towards the vent shaft in the room, staring right at the Collective's people, though everyone else was still unaware, and spoke throughout the room and shafts with his mind.
An interesting concept, these souls, is it not?
One could detect humor and mock seriouesness in the unspoken voice.

Aeternals
Reluctantly, the Supremes opened a pathway through both the small Supreme Fleet, and the Equestrian fleet. Corvettes turned the pathway into a brilliant tunnel of swirling blues, greens, and reds, keeping Equestrians from attempting to claim the Aeternals as their own, due to their exclamations about how they had already decided to join them. Many of the Warships 'ported away, and after the Aeternals had left, the rest of the Warships and Corvettes 'ported and folded away, respectively.

Faust communicated to only Dmitri
"I have allowed that Supreme to think he has blocked me, but he never will. I shall give you a warning, the Supremes are dangerous, very dangerous."
And with that Faust stopped talking, but watched to see the conclusion.

Mars Situation
The Draconian Supreme rolled his eyes, and again the voice spoke, though it was obviously imitating Faust as she spoke to Dmitri.
"You're in my area, Faust, stop thinking you know everything and can do anything. Every one of us is dangerous, even your Equestrians. Your warning is fault, because everyone here is dangerous. Dmitri can call on support from so many races that I could count them on my fingers and toes, these guards have weapons that may very well kill me with one hit, if I were a normal Draconian. The Equestrians are more likely to accidentally tear themselves apart, but they can still do some damage. For a peacekeeping nation, you're very warring. I think you and your race has strayed, because a true peacekeeper looks to all for peace, not just a select few."

((I'm not going to just let you be all high-and-mighty when you can't do anything to Restukuu. You do whatever you want to me, but you can't do anything to Restukuu, or however it's spelled. Seriously, you put a limitation on yourself by doing that, you can't just change the power of someone whenever you want."

Bellaran Swamp Basilisk Update: SDF Biological R&D Division

We've captured a few specimens from the Western Lowland swamps to begin research on. Specifically, we caught four males and two females, each within relative length and weight of each other. Our largest male, Barsko, is about 4.9 meters long and weighs about 600 kilograms. Our largest female, Karkaawa, is about 4.7 meters long and weighs about 570 kilograms.

Studies of the basilisks are hard to do in person, especially the hostility between equal-gender specimens. Barsko was caught in such a violent fight with one of our other male basilisks--Caryu--that two scientists were killed trying to contain him. The acid they jettison doesn't alleviate the situation either.

Speaking of the acid, we found out that it's some extremely corrosive form of sulfuric acid. This doesn't surprise us, as the Western Lowland region of Bellaran has vast underground reserves of sulfur and acid rain follows as a result when it reaches the surface of the marshes. Something in its diet or what it drinks apparently allows it to produce the acid in a strong enough quantity that nearly anything will have a hole in it in minutes' time. Our runt female, however, Timi, cannot produce as much acid, and we've seen a physiological change including sharper teeth and longer grasping claws.

Turning these creatures loose on the battlefield could be dangerous to our own soldiers, as we consider it. The basilisks are large and very heavy, and their aggressive behavior, even while mostly tame, would be a hazard to soldiers. However, this extremely powerful acid concoction they "spit" and their nearly-impenetrable hide would make them a valuable asset in combat.

We'll continue to collect data as we find more about these creatures.

"Kepler-186 F"
Location name identified.
Species name still unconfirmed.
Empire name unidentified.

One thing to note about this certain Hyuu-maen species is how they are able to guess somewhat correctly what will happen in the future. Another thing was that their degree of curiousness was to a point that they respond immediately to such events. There is no doubt this may be the first candidate for the third scenario of the viability testing expansion system.

Brute-type mech is instructed to remain "dead", but continue to observe all activity surrounding it. The order to engage will be given once they are doing attempts to scrap or take pieces off the Raxus.

Above the Supreme

The vents cover was withdrawn and four of the aliens dropped into the room, still looking like the humans they had emulated.
"Souls do not exist, we once believed and then the Collective showed us the truth. There are horrors beyond horrors, but no souls."
"We are beginning to doubt."
"Yes. As for Faust, a class three extra-dimensional being should not be trifled with without experience, but otherwise she is relatively harmless."
"We do not understand the system you have used to determine Humans the largest, did you mean this galaxy alone, not counting extra-galactic holdings? in which case, I agree. However, it does not matter that they are the strongest non-gifted faction, as such 'gifts' exist and are therefore lack of said gift is irrelevant"
"As a result if it being irrelevant, we will treat the humans no differently and are thus compelled to correct. The AIF lacks the number of races the Equestrians hold alone, and we hold more in that respect. It would be advised that you compare 6, Human, Abh, Dolphin, Boskop, Eth'ral and Aeternal to nine, Triarii, Saeva Simius, Corruptelae Insectum, Lance Human, Selkath, Umbrae Populus, Batarian, Asari and Turian... The last three being minorities. Six (though with a single Draconian) to ten if you wish to include Draconians."
"We have higher population levels Collectively as well"
"Our weaponry is superior"
"Our forces are superior"
"We would only place the AIF as the second most powerful faction .. Which is up one space from a cycle ago, when we considered the Equestrians the second most powerful. Our short war proved how weak they are"
"Agreed"

The Supreme Draconian bows his head slightly, in recognition. "We are well aware, but you take other races, and modify them, do you not? You turn them into your own soldiers, with no true will. That couldn't be counted, by our terms. However, you do produce a valid point, if your words are true. And do not be offended, we question everything unless we see it ourselves, though we don't always question out loud.

And would you not think the Equestrians weaker beforehand? They claim to be peacekeepers, and yet the construct weapons. True peacekeepers never resort to violence. They wish for peace, and that makes them a peacekeeper. And they also rely too much on magic. Counter the magic, you counter everything. They wouldn't even be able to make toast if you shut down their magic."
