That's why Adrian has a pair of goggles that block out the sun enough for him to see "normally". It's a disadvantage that makes him human, like normal people can't see in the dark and is equally fucked if the enemy has night vision :P

Sola: You'd be surprised how they won wars when only had one round the gun at a time. And FYI, I've decided that the rifle Adrian took is a Krag-Jørgensen, ditto it doesn't load the way Flint showed him. Was that intentional, since it's perhaps the only rifle that loads from a box on the side?

anyone else had the the thought nagging at them in the back of their heads that most of the weapons (firearms) would be home made due to the fact that actual guns would be pretty much for the high ranking military?

I don't understand. The military is gone as far as I know and it's not like guns are a rarity in the U.S.

no? I mean the US has the highest gun count per capita on the planet, we are in an post nuclear apocalypse so the actual military is gone, we are around 30 years post nuke. so weapons havn't had time to degrade that badly if they were stored properly. certainly sometime in the next 100 years or so someone is going to have to start up a gun factory, but we are good for now.

maybe, but the closest we have to military (in this rp) are town militias, and while guns may be somewhat easy to find in the usa, caring for them is alot more difficult and the expenses in a post apocalypse would be astronomical to do it properly. while i can just make a breach loaded, single shot shot gun out of some scrap metal, a 2x4 and some tools. all of which would be abundant in this situation, not to mention if it ever needed maintenance then i could just scrap it and make another :P

1) Alexander wouldn't actually be anymore effected by flashbangs then any other normal person, of normal vision, as his eyes work more like a Felines(in this case they are not feline in distinction though) and actually dilate accordingly for light at the present situation. (I.e. They open or close and change the reflective aspect inside his eyes to adjust in a natural manner to light, just like a feline or other nocturnal low-light vision using animal.)

2) The grade of a weapon, and whether it is homemade, stock, military grade, etc, etc, etc, etc, would all depend solely on where the weapon's point of origin was during the event, or after the event. Plenty of weapons fill homes in the US, we have guns gallore in a personal aspect to be honest and they can be found anywhere. Doomsday prepping bunkers, homes, vaults, safes, warehouses, etc, etc, etc, etc. So, you can pick up just about any type of weapon in nearly any kind of condition you want in this Rp, so long as you have a point of origin for it.

3) For an example of something possible, the Gun Runners in Fallout: NV were originally raiders who stumbled upon a plant for firearms manufacturing, it wasn't operational. It did however house all of the blueprints and know-how books to teach them how to make a plant of their own. This took only around fifty years for a large scale business in a post-apoc setting to begin operation.

4) Thirty Years Post Nuke can actually survivable, it all depends on a few variables: Placement of nukes, spread of nukes, radius and caliber of said nukes, and how thoroughly of a job said nukes did on their targets. Widepsread nukes can actually leave pretty wide zones untouched by the mass of the explosion with only minute effects left in remnant which in turn can create the Chernobyl Effect. (I.e. There are hit and miss hot-spots and livable sectors.)
