"The date is November 5th, 2065. My name is Charles Ackerman, and I am the First Citzen of Facility 290871, the Babylon Facility. As of precisely 8:00 a.m, I have received orders from Them, typed in a neat, justified column of sans-serif font. I am to post and reveal the orders by noon, or be declared traitor.

Insanity is the only word I can use to describe it. Lunacy, or perhaps idiocy as well. Yet, out it printed, the neatly typed text blandly and boldly stating orders that I cannot even begin to comprehend, let alone contest. There is no refusing this, I know. I swore an oath, back when I was younger, foolish. Now my life, and the lives of my people, depend on this, even though such an action very well may end both.

Pure Chaos, this message calls it. To test the wills, morals, and teamwork the citizens of the facility. Bullshit. We receive word from Them once a decade at most, and when they do finally contact us, they send us shit like this. This, however, is by far the worst thing that has ever been printed on this accursed machine.

Anarchy. Literal, total, absolute anarchy. All laws are to be retracted, save one: “You may not exit the Facility at any cost”. Security Automatons are to be shut down and stored away, the first time in the Facility's history. The police force is to be disbanded and placed on Vagrant's Rations. Nearly total and absolute freedom is to be placed in the laps of the citizens.

I'm looking out my viewport to the hanging gardens. Who is going to work them? Will the proletariat understand that, without their contribution, the people will go hungry? And what of the plumbers, the doctors, the janitors, the electricians, the teachers? What will they do? Order and balance has always kept us alive down here, in our shelter from the harsh, irradiated world above. But if we can't work together, we might as well just walk out of the facility right now, and into the wastes.

I'm not sure what is going to happen to me. At this point, I care little; the effects of this legislature are dipped in malice, and mean nothing but harm to my people. Why, I am not sure. It is only
how that I am sure of. They watch us, this I know. Observe us, take notes, as though we are their pets, their toys. Whether this is some sort of game for their amusement or a test of our psychological development, I feel as though it will end badly for our people.

The time has come. I cannot bear to await my fate any longer. I'm not sure what is going to happen when I surrender myself to Them- they may kill me, they may make me watch, they may just throw me into the Wastes. For those whom this concerns, I am truly, truly sorry."

The Babylon Facility
A role-playing experience presented by He-Who-Walks-Behind and Rickon

In this RP, each player will be controlling a citizen of Facility 290871, the Babylon Facility. The facility is a massive underground, environmentally controlled shelter to protect its people from Nuclear Radiation, the toxic atmosphere, and other malignant side effects caused by an apocalyptic nuclear war. No one is the Facility was alive to remember coming underground to escape the devastation- they, you, were born in the Facility.

Living a life of normalcy and order, your character is suddenly faced with a new home, with new laws. You no longer have to work, you no longer have to obey the rules. You can truly do anything you want without intervention. But, then again, so can everyone else...

Feels like a Vault-Tec experiment presented as a roleplay. Neat.

I'm really looking for something with a driving plot, though, something to strive towards. I love the setting, and the narrative has been presented beautifully so far, but it's basically 'fend for yourself' at the moment, which is fine in some contexts, where ambient AI is greater (or even exists) and the direct control one has of one's surroundings and settings is limited (or even null). In a written, narrative format, there's very little tension about keeping yourself alive to keep driving you forwards, because you can literally write yourself out of danger.

If an over-arching plot was introduced, or the RP took on some tabletop mechanics towards surviving, then this would definitely grab my attention by the short ones.
