This sits perfectly fine with the Residents. They would rather keep their anonymity than cause a mass riot about their non-human statuses. Although it is a hassle to get groceries and things ever since their previous Landlord died, they still live fairly comfortable lives. It’s just a shame no one can open any of the doors leading to their home realms.
Until now.

Hello! So glad you’re interested in my little rp. This idea was actually the first idea I ever had when I started role playing years back but it quickly died. Bringing it up again with some added twists and plots. Anyways, here are some logistics on how the Magical Boarding House works:
-The entire estate is teeming with magic. Once you passed the iron gates, then you are not in a magical realm any longer.
-There are a lot of doors in the Magical Boarding House. Most lead to normal places, like bedrooms, bathrooms, the kitchen, yadda yadda. But the rest of the doors open up to several different magical realms. What magical realms? I don’t know! It’s always changing and some doors won’t even be in the same place the next day.
-None of the Residents in the Magical Boarding House can open the doors leading to magical realms. Only the human Landlord can open a door for them.
-HOWEVER, magical creatures coming from a realm can open a door to the Magical Boarding House. They may have a hard time going back if they aren’t planning to stay since the door they walked through will not lead to their home realm the second time around!
-Residents are allowed outside the property of the Magical Boarding House. But they must keep their identities hidden from human kind or else their contract to live at the House will become void and they will be sent to a feared realm where creatures that do not fulfill their contracts go to pay their debts. It’s a scary place, so don’t do it.

If there are any questions regarding how the setting works, don’t hesitate to ask me in this forum or through a PM. Next up, here are
-THE RULES-
-This is going to be a High-Casual, Low-Advanced roleplay. I will be expecting a minimum of two paragraphs each post.
-This is also going to be bordering between PG-13 to R. Curse words are allowed, violence is allowed to the point of gory details (we don’t need those). Romance is going to be an important aspect of the roleplay and mentioning sex/intercourse is fine but if it is going to happen, please fade to black and take it to the PM.
-No godmodding. Don’t take control of other people’s characters. It’s one of my pet peeves.
-Please try to post at least once every two-three days. I’m the prime example of late replies and I can almost never do it day to day. I applaud you if you can but I won’t hold it against you if you can’t. Just try and be consistent and always give us a heads up in the OOC.
-You can play a maximum of two characters. I want to try and keep things at an even number so that everyone can find someone to love in the House.
-In regards to race, I’m okay with any kind of magical creature EXCEPT vampires and werewolves. Guys, please be original. There are other kinds of magical creatures besides these two overly-popularized ones.
-Remember when I said I wanted this to be a High-Casual, Low-Advanced rp? Well in order to also check if you’ve read my rules, please PM me a sample of your writing. You can just put the subject as ‘Sample for MGH’. You will get a reply through the PM as well as through the thread so you don’t miss it.

Alright, now that the boring stuff’s over, we can finally get to the character sheet! I will only be accepting five players. No more, no less. Also, there will be three-four Residents already living in the house. The others will be entering from their worlds. So please let me know if you want to play one of the Residents already living in the House by just mentioning it before your CS. And at least post something before you put your CS. It makes me feel loved.
AND REMEMBER: No vampires and/or werewolves allowed!!!

*The Residents*
The Lazy New Landlady
Name: Sonya Durett
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Race:Human
Appearance:
Personality: Sonya is a pretty laid-back, tomboyish kind of chick who just goes with the flow. Always aiming for the minimum, she tries to avoid work, especially manual labor, as much as possible. Although her bored facial expressions and sarcastic remarks do not show it, she is actually very kind-hearted and finds it hard to deny a person’s dire request. In those cases she will work above and beyond what is expected of her. She is also surprisingly open-minded, but whether that is because she is extremely tolerant or she just doesn’t give a damn is still up in the air.
History: Sonya’s life was fairly normal up until now. She grew up as an only child in a middle-income family with both her parents alive and well. She also graduated a year ago from the state college with a degree in English. Ever since then, she had been working odd jobs to try and pay the outrageous rent her parents set for her. One day, Sonya received a letter stating that her great uncle had passed on and had decided to give her one of his properties. Inside that same envelope was a key. Sonya immediately packed up her things that day and set off to her new, less expensive home.
Likes: Sleeping, big blue skies, swimming and junk food
Dislikes: Work, drama, and horror movies
Sexual Orientation: Doesn’t really matter to her.

The Alluring Art Connoisseur
Name: Kaycee (K.C.) Barrow
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Race: Leanan sidhe
Appearance:
Personality: Kaycee is an artist, or at least considers herself one; it might be more accurate to say that Kaycee is obsessed with art and artists of all sorts. Always one to enjoy going to galleries or concerts, Kaycee surrounds herself with those in the art world. Due to her true race, Kaycee has a tendency to be rather flirty, often to the point where personal space is invaded. A notorious flirt though she is never seen capitalizing upon it- not for lack of trying on the part of those who find themselves enamored with her, the repercussions far outweigh the joys and Kaycee, though devilish in her charms, enjoys the teasing far more than what comes after.
History: Kaycee found herself in the world of humans after an attempt to seduce, inspire, and dispose of one of the wanderers in her Barrowlands went horribly awry. She got sight of the poor, struggling poet and enticed him with a laugh while running past him, her fiery hair trailing behind him. The bait was taken, but as she led the man around the wooded Barrowlands, she stumbled upon a door, most unusual as it was attached to a tree. Thinking a woodsman had simply made an etching, Kaycee reached her hand out and to her great surprise there was the human world. Curious, she stepped through, wanting to take just a moment. And then the man she was attempting to trick into service closed the door behind her, her powers no longer affecting him once she crossed over.
She tried and tried in vain to open the door and return to no avail. Stranded in a new, unfamiliar place was a terrifying experience, but with the aid of the previous landlord and some kindly humans, Kaycee adapted, though she hated –still does- having to cover her ears with her hair. When she discovered her powers worked on some humans, she decided against abusing them; there was nothing to gain from leading these already short lived people to an earlier grave, though she still loves the attention that comes from something as simple as a suggestive whisper.
Likes: Arts and artists of all sorts, from painters and poets to stage performers and actors, musicians and all those inbetween.
Dresses, since her time in the human world Kaycee has come to enjoy wearing and purchasing dresses, from the elegant to the short, she is very rarely wearing anything else.
Attention. To say Kaycee thrives on attention is an understatement. The limelight is her favorite kind of light, so long as someone is focused on her she is content.
Dislikes: Working. Kaycee is of the mind that others should do her work for her, including chores and housework.
Rodents. Mice and rats and all inbetween. Filthy, ugly unartistic creatures.
Litter. Anyone who casually tosses garbage around irks her to no end, and overly messy rooms or areas set her off.
Sexual Orientation: Gender is irrelevant. The artistry is what matters.

The Amiable Inquisitor
Name: Erin Rider (Not her actual surname, but one she adopted when she arrived in the human world)
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Race: Dullahan
Appearance: As below, but with a faint blue flame burning from the stump of her neck. She arrived clad in a suit of black metal armour, carrying a claymore strapped to her back.
Personality: Polite and respectful, Erin took her role in her own world very seriously - it was an important job, shepherding departed souls, and it was one she performed diligently until she was trapped in the human world. Now that she is no longer able to carry this out, she feels like she has to either do chores and jobs or teach herself something new to keep busy. At the same time, however, she no longer has her sense of death driving her on, so she can indulge her inquisitive nature - she is quite curious about how humans live, having only ever interacted with them when they died. As such she tends to be fairly adventurous, talkative, and will try anything once. Her inexperience with humans also means she tends to err on the side of formality until she’s sure she won’t cause offense. While softly spoken, she is used to the people she deals with sometimes arguing or resisting, and has a patient-but-firm approach to arguments.
History: Erin doesn't remember being born, even her earliest memory being wandering the roads in the service of her task – finding those who were about to die and helping send their souls to the afterlife. Over the years she grew quite curious about the way the people she helped lived their lives, and often lingered in towns and villages to watch the humans there going about their business, invisible to almost all of them thanks to her fae nature. She was always too dedicated to her task to stop for very long, however, the sense of the next soul drawing her on.
It was this curiosity that led her to open the door she found set into the stone wall of a cliff by the roadside. To her surprise, she found a simple hallway beyond, and stepped inside to investigate, closing the door behind her and inadvertently leaving herself trapped. In the human world she is no longer invisible and her death-sense is dulled, to the point where she would have to be standing right next to someone to tell. While she is somewhat troubled that her work is being left undone, the fact that she can now settle down in one place for a while without being drawn away makes staying a very tempting prospect.
Likes: Trying new things, stimulating conversation, reading quietly.
Dislikes: Laziness, being separated from her body, rude or disrespectful people, having nothing to do.
Sexual Orientation: Hasn't really thought about it, but gender doesn't mean much to her.

The Quiet Erudite
Name: Arachne
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Race: Acephali
Appearance:
Personality: She speaks rather little, unless addressed to. As expressionless as she appears - Due to the fact that her head is a skull -, she does tend to feel joy as well as depression but seems to have trouble executing it despite it being such a simple task.
She is overall calm and collected though can be socially awkward at times. Arachne does tend to work hard towards communication but has little success in trying to get others to understand. When she appears to a direct joke, she reacts rather slowly or retires from trying to grasp the punch-line.
Despite her intellect and quick ability to learn, she is a bit oblivious to many things, deception being one of them. When someone tells her something, she likes to believe that they are telling the truth and so the thought they could be lying doesn't often cross her mind.
History: Born into a clan living in the caves, she has been a bit sheltered from the conflicts that arise between the four Acephali clans though it is impossible to tear oneself completely away from the issues that happen within the very realm they reside in. They were a pacifistic clan, always trying to hide from the silent wrath of the realm. But they knew that they couldn't hide forever.
On the day Arachne turned 20 her clan was plundered, stripped of their children, then left to die. They covered the entrance with rubble sealing the villagers inside the cave. Yet, Arachne managed to slip out during the madness and flee. Across the realm and through the door to the boarding house where she had been staying for 4 years.
Likes: Staying inside, dim lighting, cats - She finds them cute -
Dislikes: Mirrors - Self explanatory, she doesn't like seeing her reflection, she believes that she is hideous -, food - She's unable to eat and is trying to be as normal as possible -, outdoors.
Sexual Orientation: Straight. But where she is from people aren't usually distinguished by sex.

The Kind-Hearted Beast
Name: Marcus Alexanderson
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Race: Stupor Petentem(Eyeless Horror)
Appearance:
Personality: Marcus is a very dangerous individual, he doesn't look it thanks to his very desirable appearance, something that lures people into his trap. He's a kind person with a good heart, his predatory nature just often gets the best of him.
History: Marcus' origins date back to as far as the ancient sumerians, his kind were spoke of in stories, revered as gods, and even called demons. True to their nature, his kind are n fact a sort of unnatural predatory entity, they are born human yes and can even act human but they are far from what they could claim to be. They often are undetectable by humankind or another type of being except their own and many beast type supernatural beings. Their name derives from their lack of eyelids or eyes, they rely of scent and sound to track prey. The first of the Petentem were created long ago, they lived in secret and presented themselves as humans. They began preying on humankind, animals, and even their own kind in rare cases, as they had begun reproducing, more and more of these creatures inhabited other places. Marcus was born in human form as all others of his kind were, his upbringing was somewhat of a harsh one, he was raised by his mother(usually the females devour males). He was pushed constantly by his mother to be a stronger male than his father once was, at his coming of age(which would be about 16 or so) he left his mother and lived among humans, trying to be one of them but ultimately failing due to instinct. People would always either be missing or maimed whenever they came into contact with him or tried any further to get to know him on a personal level.
Likes: Meat, Music, People
Dislikes: Vegetables, Fruit, Lack of Sound
Sexual Orientation: Straight but he has been hit on by males(They were eaten in result ^.^)

The Freed Vagrant
Name: Dan Behr
Age: 27
Gender: Male (Though originally genderless)
Race: Beholderkin
Appearance:
Dan can no longer revert to his original form, it was lost upon entering the House. He can however perform a partial change, that restores some of his former appearance and abilities.
His skin ripples, changing to a black colour, before solidifying to something that looks akin to leather. His right eye is completely covered and no longer visible, while the veins around his left bulge out even further to emphasize his only eye, which is now a metallic gold. Bulges also appear on his shoulders, as if something under the skin wanted to burst out. Should he reveal them, two eyes have also formed on the palms of his hands, one silver and the other bronze in colour.
Personality: Most noticeably, Dan has a sort of lethargic air around him at most times, although it does make him rather even-tempered. He doesn’t seem to have purpose, nor drive, but rather just goes with the flow, day by day. He can be an inquisitive individual when things catch his attention, but even this facet can’t withstand the laziness that underlies his being. In spite of this mood, Dan does perk up a bit noticeably when interacting with others, even if the lazy facade never really disappears.
Still, in spite of how lazy he may seem, Dan also possesses a cunning born from his inhuman nature. It isn’t true to say he hides behind a lazy facade because that laziness isn’t an act, but it’s simply one aspect of his personality that is expressed more.
History: The world Dan came from wasn’t a pretty one, and he can quite easily say it was a good thing he found the door rather than another one of his kin. His life prior to the discovery was one that involved mostly hiding, getting by, and avoiding the gaze of those vastly superior. It wasn’t horrible, in fact compared to the war torn world outside his lair, it was almost ideal. Still… it was terribly dreary.
His nature was unlike those of his kin, mellowed and peaceful in comparison to violent and hateful. Even without the constant war due to innumerable factions, he would have found no place amongst those similar yet vastly different to him. So, when a mystery presented itself in the form of a magical gateway, there was little for the Beholderkin to hesitate about.
Evidently the gateway did more than simply rip him from his world, not that he complained, but it also bent his essence and form. Whatever occurred couldn’t completely remold the Beholderkin, but it stole away some of “his” magic and changed his appearance.
Likes: Sleep. It’s an opportunity to let his inner bum out, and Dan is going to take all he can get.
Wandering about. His old world wasn’t one of many pretty sights, and of those that existed, the opportunities to see them were rare at best, and always dangerous.
Talking. Despite his phobia of physical contact, he’s much more open to conversation.
Dislikes: Bright lights. Sensitive eyes mean that lights that others can find bearable are physically painful or blinding to him. As such his rooms will usually be unlit, and he moves around from dusk to dawn if possible.
Messes. Inspite of his rather lackluster appearance, Dan is not one that will stand for uncleanliness. Even prior to this world his lair was well organized and sorted, and he seeks the same here.
Physical contact. While others might be uncomfortable with physical contact, Dan downright opposes and hates the sensation. It probably has something to do with the world he came from, but surprising him in this manner is a quick way to learn what a Beholder’s gaze holds, even if weakened.
Sexual Orientation: Doesn’t have one at the moment, so asexual.
