"What I think about being a new student at a new highschool? Gee, I don't know." It was a hard quarrel that Lann had with himself. "I'd have to make friends with people again. It'll be a hassle, but don't get me wrong. Having friends is probably the only way for me to get out of highschool's boredom. At least I'll get to keep crushes and maybe creep on them a little, right? Not all that boring with it." His hands deftly buttoned his school shirt. His pants were already buckled with a leather belt and he donned himself a flashy red tie, all with the style of Windsor's Knot-- Triangular perfection. He checked himself out by a half-broken mirror in his room that was filled with messy clutter. "You're looking pretty dashy Lann. Let's do this."

"Man, what a mess I've made in my room. If mother would to see such a messy room, I think she wouldn't be very happy." The door to his room opened. Footsteps reflected the sound of timpani solo as Lann descended down the stairs. The smell of eggs and bacon greeted his nostrils with anticipation and a mouth full of saliva. "Favourite breakfast ever!" As he thought to himself. A gracefully beautiful blonde woman was behind the stove cooking the said eggs and bacon. Her hands were as deft as Lann's. Her hand reached for the pepper across the counter. As her fingers grazed by the cold aluminium metal of the container, it pushed itself slightly away from her hand. She began to struggle until Lann took the pepper container for her.

"Thank you my dear." Her voice was gentle and sweet as honey. Lann gave her a big smile-- but his mother did not turn to look.

"I don't know if you can tell, but I'm smiling big time right now!" He joyfully told his mother. A smile struck her lips as she turned to Lann, as if she wasn't offended at all. She put down the pepper shaker and reached for Lann's face and hazel hair, using them as if molding an image of Lann as he kept his smile.

"Such a handsome boy. That's my son." She replied, continuing to cup Lann's cheeks as his cheeks blushed rosy pink from embarrassment.

"Now, now mum. I'm 17 years old, remember?" Her mouth then opened.

"My! How time has passed by so quickly. I still remember you when you first were born carried in my arms. You're a big boy now." She said before adding; "A really big baby boy." Lann's grin was getting wider and wider. He couldn't have picked a better mother than his own. Soon, the smell of burning could be tasted. father's immediate reaction from across the room was;

"Freyja! Something's burning!" At that moment then, she was surprised. Her hands began to frantically feel for the pan but accidentally touched the hot plate of the pan, causing her to wince as Lann was slightly startled.

"Oh damn! I got this mum!" Lann quickly took over by turning the stove off. Unfortunately, the eggs were slightly burnt out. Although to focus on the great news; the bacon was perfectly fine! Lann quickly took a ceramic plate from the cupboard and put to his own plate eggs and bacon. "Are you okay?" Freyja was covering her burnt finger with her own saliva.

"I'll be fine Lann. It's just a small burn." A man then came into the kitchen.

"Freyja, how many times do I need to tell you to not cook? Lann can take care of himself." Lann scoffed at that statement, which was followed by a clear glare over his father's eyes. Lann gave him an awkward smile before continuing to eat his breakfast-- trying to not to think about the burnt-y taste that it has on the egg.

She finally let go of her burnt finger and replied, "It's his first day in his new highschool Alphonse. I think he deserves a meal from his own mother." His response was a deeply worried sigh. If it wasn't obvious yet, Freyja is blind.

"The eggs and bacon still tastes good, mum!" Lann said. Freyja's smile was sincere there on after. "Alright, I hope both of you are going to have a good day. I'm going to head off to school now." Lann's excitement began to overflow inside of him. Something just made him feel happy about going to school. Perhaps he hadn't thought of the nasty teachers that may be about-- or bullies that may get in his way. Maybe projects and assignments too and how he would never attract any of the girl's attention.

"That, son, you must. Have a good day at school. We love you!" Lann gave his parents a kiss on their cheeks before leaving on his bike. Freyja continued to wave on her seat as she heard Lann leaving through the front door as it crashed back into place. "I hope he didn't forget anything on his first day..." Alphonse sighed once again. Freyja could only giggle at his anxiousness.

"I'm leaving, princess!" her father called from the door, audibly bustling about and jangling his keys until he opened the door. "Alright, take care!" she replied just as loud, and, as usual, finished putting on her school uniform at the exact moment her father closed the door. She tugged a little on the black skirt, and made sure her shirt was properly tugged in before she hurried into the kitchen, where her father had left her exactly enough coffee to fill a cup. He'd even put her favourite mug, a blue one with white dots, right beside it. She fixed her coffee, with some milk and a whole lot of sugar, the way she liked it best, and brought it back into her room, where she put it on the table underneath her mirror and took sips of it in between putting on just enough make-up to give her a fresh, natural look without being too obvious.

As she put in a pair of diamond-studs she had gotten from her mother on christmas, probably trying to compensate for her absence after divorcing from her father and moving away for work with presents more pricey than she usually chose, and a cute little pendant with a light-blue heart-shaped stone she had gotten herself a few weeks ago whilst shopping with some of her friends, she finished her coffee and turned to grab her bag, heading for the kitchen to fix herself a lunch-paket, and an apple to eat on the way to school.

A look at the clock told her she had plenty of time and, taking a look around, she put her lunch into her back, leaving the latter on the table, with the apple next to it, and hurriedly sorted the used dishes in the dishwasher before she went to check if the windows were closed and the lights turned off, something her father tended to regularly forget, not that she minded. It had taken him considerable time to get used to being a single-parent and the last few weeks he'd been busy at work as well, so she tried her best to take some of his workload at home and letting him relax during his free-time.

Back in the kitchen of their new, smaller but more modern house, she got her back, and took a bite of her apple while heading for the door, holding it with her teeth while she slipped on her shoes over her tights- and socks-clad feet. She took another bite before putting on her jacket and wrapping her favourite red shawl around her neck. Slinging the bag over her shoulder, she grabbed the keys from the pretty little bowl they had gotten recently and fumbled to open the door, apple in one hand, keys in the other.

Once outside she made sure to lock the door, dropped the keys into a sidepocket of her back and buried her free hand in her jackets pocket, while heading out onto the streets, as she finished her apple with a few big bites, hurrying to be able to hide her hand from the cold morning air outside.

Unfortunately that was exactly when her phone started silently chiming in her back. She sighed, pulling it out and looking at the display before answering the call.
"What did you forget, dad?" she asked with an amused tone in her voice.
She heard him do that weird noise between a sigh and a snicker she had only ever heard him making and smiled.
"Nothing. Well,.. I forgot to [i]tell[/] you that I'll be just a little late today. But don't start dinner without me!"
She laughed.
"Ah, I can't promise that, you'll have to hurry or I'll eat it all on my own."
"Oh, I'd be careful with eating so much, you know I think you gained some weight over christmas."
"You did not say that just now!" she exclaimed, a grin on her face as she recalled just who was the one that gained some pounds back then.
There was some noise in the background, manly voices mumbling about and her father spoke on hurriedly.
"I've got to go, see you later, princess."
He had hung up before she could reply, but left her smiling lightly all the way to school.

Lann was on his way to school, backpack strapped tightly around his shoulders rumbling as his foot pedalled against gravity. It brought him faster and faster over a slight downslope of a hill. The amount of speed he picked up drove his thirst for adrenaline to an absolute maximum. The free wind pushed against Lann's chest as he descended at high speeds. It was a clear road in front of him and he intended to not stop at such incredible speed. Since it was his first day going to the school speeding on his bike was definitely not a good idea.

There it was. Directly in front of him was a turn without a straight road. Even then, still Lann took it as an invitation to increase the excitement over his first day. The bike wheels continued to spin but soon creaked as the brakes were pressed, causing the back wheel to skid mid-turn, leaving a harsh burnt mark on a road before Lann continued to pedal towards the direction he wanted. All occurred within a single momentary moment. This road however, begun to have traffic around. Cars began to wheeze past and the murmurs of people could be heard. The local market was near. Lann's speed and adrenaline decreased immensely as he became distracted-- Looking about the area around him. To have a school located at such a lively place... Perhaps it was going to be a different experience after all.

He broke himself a smile. He began to stride along his bike nonchalantly along the road, keeping away from people as not to cause a collision and greeting several people as he passes them. Every one of them responded positively. Finally, the school could be seen over from the distance. "Ah! My Final Destination! Although I really hope I don't die here." Moments later, he found himself riding into the school's yard. He looked for places where he could securely park his bike before dismounting and looking up towards the school before him. "And here comes Lann Langley into this school. Be prepared, twerps." Lann looked proud as he began to hang around the front yard.

Turning around the next corner brought Emilia onto the lively street on which the school grounds bordered in some distance. Cars drove by and you could even hear the noise of the market place close by. Students were already all over the place, heading in the same direction as her and Emilia smiled and greeted here and there, keeping an eye out for her childhood friends. She was just about to enter the school's yard when someone glomped onto her from behind, giggling and smooching a wet kiss onto her cheek. "Good Morning, Ems!" a lively female voice exclaimed.

She turned around, smiling brightly and hugging one of her best friends tightly. "Good Morning, Kat." she replied happily, wiping her cheek with a grimace, not expecting the big, heavy hand landing on her head to ruffle her hair the next second. She gasped, then turned around to glare at the huge, blonde guy grinning at her. "Stop messing up my hair so early in the morning, Daniel!" she exclaimed, reaching up to knock his hand away and run her hands through her hair to get rid of the knots and set her bangs right again. "Or, even better, stop that alltogether." she grumbled, turning back to Kat when he only laughed, who reached out to tug some strands of her hair back into place with a smug expression on her face. Emilia raised an eyebrow at her. "Something funny?" she asked, already knowing the answer, cause that was how most of their mornings had been going ever since the three had found each other in kindergarten. Her friend tried to school her face into a serious expression, something she did really bad and it never seemed to fit her right, even when she was earnest about it. "Nothing at all." she answered, and then, as if inspired by Emilias situation, ran a hand through her own hair, long dark-brown and straight, falling over her shoulders and down to her hips.

Together the three of them headed into the schoolyard, Kat holding onto her hand as if fearing she would lose her smaller friend if she let go of her even for a second, like a little child. A gesture that occasionally still annoyed Emilia, for, while she certainly was a little smaller than the average girl her age, she had not gotten lost anywhere anymore for years now.

Emilias eyes took in the people around her as they walked, continuing to smile, wave and greet at whomever greeted her. Her eyes noticed an unfamiliar face, following the boy with a bycicle for a second before her friends turned her attention back to them. "..Ems? So, will you?" Kat asked with puppy dog eyes, while Daniel just snorted from Emilias other side. She looked up at him and caught him shaking his head to himself in amusement. She blinked before addressing her friend. "Need my homework again?" she asked, able to guess what it was Kat was asking for. "Again... That sounds like I always do that... But yeah. I didn't have any time, you know?" she said, pouting slightly. Emilia laughed, imitating Daniel as she shook her head with a grin. "I'll let you have a look once we're inside, okay?" As thanks she received another smooch onto her cheek and the next second Kitty was pulling her along to get her inside so that she'd have plenty of time to copy her notes.

As they climbed the stairs towards the doors, Emilia turned to look at Daniel, who had stopped following them at the bottom of the stairs and was throwing her a smile. "I'll see you inside." he said and she nodded at him, giving him a small wave. He then turned to join his swimming-club friends by one of the trees. To prevent herself from stumbling into something or someone, Emilia turned back around, to make sure Kat wouldn't run around in that carefree way of hers, as they headed inside and towards the classroom.

The entire atmosphere was a freshly baked chocolate lava. So warm, and so sweet in the centre. Other students began to gather, distinctively marked by the identifying school uniform that they wore. Within less than a minute, the front yard was filled with people and new faces. Each individual seemed particularly busy with their own businesses, halting Lann's desire to try and ask questions from anybody. "Ah, damn. Here I go again-- Having a stick up my ass again. Keep this up and I'll have no friends..." There wasn't a single sense of direction inside of him. He walked inside on his own within the sea of people that stood by and chatted. "Seemed like all of them are having a good time."

"Hey, you!" What felt like a bully reached for his shoulder that got Lann already to become defensive over himself. It brought to him so many bad memories from the past where he was everybody's punching bag. Lann's head turned with a creak as he looked towards a set of brightly shining eyes and a mouth littered with crumbs. Behind him was a smaller girl, grabbing firmly onto her book with an image of a teddy bear all over it. "You're new right?" Lann couldn't even say anything, being so nervous thinking that he was already being confronted by a bully. "Hey man, relax. I'm Sirius."

Sirius let out his hand and Lann stared at his hand. He looked closely if any shock buzzer was attached to his hand where Sirius contemplated that he probably was only nervous. "Seriously, go on. Shake my hand. No nasty surprises." He said. Lann who was being too overly cautious let out his hand slowly and approached Sirius's palm. A second hand followed, locking Lann's hand in place with Sirius's as the two had a good firm handshake with one another where Lann was relieved and surprised that there was no buzzer. "There you go. How seriously easy was that?" Lann had a nervous smile about him.

"Y-yeah." He abruptly replied to Sirius, their hands still shaken together.

"Just ease up a little. Don't be serious." At this rate, Lann was confused. He couldn't distinguish whether his favourite word was serious or he was seriously relaxed to the core. Sirius patted Lann on the shoulders before the little girl set her eyes on Lann. "Hey serious-guy! What's your name?" Sirius asked. This time, his face looked rather serious.

"Hey narrator, ease up with the word 'serious' alright?" What the hell? Can he hear me now? Well, better make him do something really silly. It was then that the little girl blushed. Lann became utterly confused and traced back her eyes down to his pants where the zipper was still open. Lann's face erupted in redness before he quickly zipped his pants up. It was obvious that he had scarred the little girl's innocence a little. "Ah shit!" Lann yelled aloud, before leaving Sirius and the little girl entirely as he climbed up the stairs, heading towards a random classroom (that turned out to be his own). At that moment then, he bumped into somebody it his advance (Emillia). "My god, I'm so sorry are you alright?" Lann apologised and offered them a hand.

They had surprisingly made it to their classroom with nothing more than a few minor bumps here and there. Having arrived, Kat let go of her hand and went inside, heading for her seat but getting distracted as she bypassed a group classmates. She stopped and gave a comment Emilia couldn't hear from the doorway, but didn't have the time to try harder either, because in the next second, before she could step forward to follow her friend inside, someone bumped into her side, sending her to the floor with a small squeak in an ungracefull sprawl. She landed on her side, her upper budder turning towards the floor out of reflex and her hands hitting the ground hard to catch her fall. A grunt escaped her and she scowled as she turned to properly sit on the floor and grab her bag from where she had let it fall beside her.

She looked up, still feeling her hands burning a little, but being friends with Kat, someone that ran around carelessly while pulling her along, she had gotten as used to bumping into things and falling over other things as one could possibly get. "My god, I'm so sorry are you alright?" the boy that stood above her exclaimed, holding out a hand to help her get up. He looked unfamilar, but nice so she reached out and accepted his help, getting back on her feet, before throwing him a smile. >>I'm alright, thank you. That happens more often to me than you can imagine and I guess I'm at fault as well, standing around in front of a door in this chaos.<< she told him with a laugh, tugging her skirt back into place and bruhsing some dust off of it after slinging her bag over her shoulder again.

The girl accepted Lann's apology with the touch of her palms as she took his hand and gifted his politeness with a friendly smile. As Lann held her hand to pull her up, his lips quilted into a smile-- Perhaps not expecting to have received such a warm reaction after a hasty start between them two. He made sure that she was up and picked anything that may have sprawled during her fall. "I'm alright, thank you. That happens more often to me than you can imagine and I guess I'm at fault as well, standing around in front of a door in this chaos." She had a sweet laugh about her voice and Lann could only follow with a relaxed laugh himself before catching his own hazel hair with his fingers, pulling them away from his face.

"Heh, I wasn't being very careful myself. I really hope you can forgive me, I didn't really know where I was going. I should be more careful next time." He bowed as he apologised to the girl. He held on to the straps of his backpack, looking at the ground feeling his nerves beginning to over-react at the fact that he was talking to a girl besides his own mother. Freyja was different-- She never looked at Lann directly into his eyes because of her blindness. All light within her eyes had been lit shut, and no surgery was going to be able to cure her. So when Lann made eye contact with the girl he just met, it was difficult for him to stay calm and collected as he fidgeted and continuously looked towards other places that may place interest.

"Umm... I guess I'll get going. Sorry again!" There was another nervous smile before he turned his head and continued to walk towards a direction he thought he knew. To be honest, there wasn't a single clue in his mind as to where he needed to go. It was like sailoring with only a star compass-- You'll never know where you'll end up. Confident in his instincts, he continued to walk confusedly hoping to perhaps not meet Sirius as that awkward moment played in his mind.

Emilia could not help but be a little fascinated at how fast he seemed to go through several emotions, first relaxing a little, then tensing up again, his eyes only making contact with hers for a few seconds at a time before tunrning somewhere else, as if he was not used to keeping eye-contact, or afraid to do so. It was strange to her, for normally people felt quite at ease around her and, according to Kat, she had a quite warm and sweet disposition. "Heh, I wasn't being very careful myself. I really hope you can forgive me, I didn't really know where I was going. I should be mroe careful next time." he told her, and due to her obsercations it took her a second to get the meaning of his words. Before she could give him a reply, he was already going on: "Umm... I guess I'll get going. Sorry again!" he finished and threw her a nervous, but kind of cute smile before walking off.

She stared after him for a second before she realized something. >>Oh.., wait! Please!<< she called after him, making a few quick steps towards him, with one hand reached out to grasp his sleeve. A few weeks ago their homeroom teacher had mentioned they'd probably get a new classmate, and though it had taken Emilia a second to put the pieces of the puzzle together, she was pretty sure that it was him, since he looked unfamiliar to her, but about her age and he had said himself that he hadn't known where he was going.

Catching up to him, she lightly tugged on his sleeve, immediately letting go though, unsure whether he'd think her actin overly familiar with him. >>You.. You're new here, right?<< she asked without thinking twice about how embarrassing it would be if she was wrong afterall.

... And that was his debut in talking to a girl other than his own mother. Awkward, choppy and as quick as it could be. He felt rigid and rusty. It felt like Lann was a robot clunking as he took steps along the marble floor with his rather old sneakers. At least he hadn't made new enemies and let out a grateful sigh as he rest his fore head on to his coldly sweating palm. It calmed his mind. Just as he was about to go on to his confusing trip around the school, a pitchy voice from the distance whispered "Oh... Wait! Please!" Lann's attention turned to curiosity. Was it... The same girl? His body became rigid once again. Revenge rung loudly into his mind, although it was unlikely for a girl who sounded and looked as sweet as her. Still he was convinced that it was the case. Lann stood still and hesitated to look.

He felt her fingers grasping and tugging onto his sleeve briefly before it latched off. Lann finally turned around. "You... You're new here, right?" The question was so unexpected that Lann nearly jumped. With an embarassed grin and toes that gradually lifted him in nervousness he responded to the girl.

"It's... Really obvious, isn't it??" He wasn't making eye contact with her and dryly laughed with fingers trying to make light of the entire situation by rubbing his temples. He sighed again, deciding to at least ease up and acknowledge the fact that he is new and could use some help. "Yeah... I'm new. I really don't know where I'm going." Even after he allowed himself to breathe lighter, he still wasn't able to keep up eye-contact for more than half a second. "I'm told that I'll be meeting my tour guide. I don't even know who they are or what they look like. It's quite the trip, isn't it?" He didn't know what else there was to say to this girl.

She took a step back to give him some space as she realized that she seemed to have startled him a little and he was clearly uncomfortable talking to her. She kept smiling warmly, trying to calm him a little. "It's.. Really obvious, isn't it?" he said, forcing a laugh, while rubbing his temples with his fingers before giving a resignated sigh and talking on. "Yeah.. I'm new. I really don't know where I'm going. I'm told that I'll be meeting my tour guide. I don't even know who they are or what they look like. It's quite the trip, isn't it?"

Emilia nodded thoughtfully at his words. "I guess Mr.Collins, our homeroom teacher, was going to ask one of the guys to show you around, but I guess he has yet to do so, or everyone would know by now. They can't keep anything to themselves." she said with a laugh and a roll of her eyes. "Oh, and I didn't want to imply you looked out-of-place or something, I just didn't recognize you so I was wondering and then I recalled that Mr.Collins had said something about a possible newcomer some weeks ago and you had mentioned you did'nt know where you were going, so I took a wild guess." she babbled on, then stopped herself with a smile and returned to the topic at hand. "So, you were actually already at your destination, that back there is our classroom. I'm Emilia, by the way."

He contemplated for a moment, as if praying for forgiveness to an old man. How very unfriendly his acts were to somebody that he just met and isn't exactly a male. Perhaps all the other years being educated within a restricted gender school was a factor deteriorating his behaviour around women. He acted perhaps a little over the top for talking to a girl, but so far she had shown nothing but the sweet, warm chocolate inside the roughly textured bread crust. It was thanks to her smile that made him loosen and feel comfortable-- A certified guarantee that she wasn't there to spoil what could be the greatest first day of school ever.

The ice was broken once again as she spoke to address the matter. "I guess Mr. Collins, our homeroom teacher, was going to ask one of the guys to show you around. But I guess he has yet to do so, or everyone would know by now. They can't keep anything to themselves." Lann worked up a smile for this girl as she laughed, attempting to at least maintain eye contact for longer then half a second before swooping over to other things. He wasn't used to girls and since this was a school mixed with boys and girls... He's gonna have to confront it with open arms. Ultimately, he could hear her babbling on about something as he tried to ready himself facing the truth of this mixed-gender school. When his eyes returned, he saw her smiling again. "So, you were actually at your destination, that back there is our classroom. I'm Emilia, by the way." Emilia was the first name he would've heard that didn't sound plain or easy to guess. Other boys always mentioned how girls were always named with something so common such as Jessica, Pamela and Melissa.

"That's quite the unique name." Lann naively commented after learning of her name. "I'm... Lann... Uhh, pleased to meet you Emilia." He wanted to give her his hand for a hand-shake, but his doubt overwhelmed him with it as his hands practically moved forward and back to where his hips were. "Wait... I went past it already when... I crashed into you?" He looked beside Emilia towards the direction she was from and saw Sirius moving into the classroom. "Oh... Dear..." There was another issue. "Do you... By any chance, know Sirius?" The thought of the time made him release his phone tucked in his pants and looked quickly into the screen before back to Emilia.

Happy that he seemed to relaxed a little around her, her smile widened. "That's quite the unique name. I'm.. Lann.. Uhh, pleased to meet you Emilia." he intorduced himself and she noticed him intending to reach out for a handshake but pulling back. She didn't give any indication that she'd noticed, not wanting him to feel awkward. "Wait.. I went past it already when.. I crashed into you?" he asked, looking past her and seeming to react to something there. She scowled at him startling and turned her head to follow his eyes to Sirius heading into the classroom. "Oh.. Dear" she heard him say. "Do you.. By any chance, know Sirius?" he asked and when she looked back at him, he was glancing at his phone.

"Nice to meet you, too Lann. That's quite the unique name as well." she said with a smile, thinking how well the name fit him."Sirius?" she repeated after him, wondering what had happened between the two. "Well, yeah, I've know him ever since Middle School. I know he comes off as kind of intimidating, but he's one of the nicest persons I know and more mature than most of the other guys in class. If you ever need some help or something, he's your guy. Though of course, I'd be happy to do the same." she told him, the pointed towards the classroom. "Shall we head back there? Mr Collins should be coming soon, I can wait with you if you want to?" she offered, remembering that she still had to pass Kat her homework and wondering when the airhead would notice that Emilia was still not in the classroom.

Everything felt better when Sirius did not seem to have noticed Lann just a few distance away from the classroom. Lann returned to look at Emilia again before breaking away after brief eye-contact. It was like as if it was poisonous or forbidden to look at a girl by their eyes. As if darkness would cloud around Lann and swallow him whole and alive. It was fear that he ignorantly chose to believe. "Nice to meet you too, Lann. That's quite the unique name as well." Lann was caught by an incredible surprise from Emilia. To have thought that nobody exactly gave a damn about his name... Apparently it mattered to Emilia. He felt the rising heat of the stove around his cheeks before rolling his eyes away from Emilia.

"T-Thanks..." He added to Emilia's compliment. It felt unreal to be complimented by a girl. All it was with the boys he used to study with was understatements or spin offs. Sometimes even bad puns that would demean and make nothing of his name. That's why most of the time he would always can the uniqueness of his name thinking that it was only a tag that labeled specifically what you are called. Not an identity, but a designated label.

Emilia repeated after him as he mentioned Sirius. "Sirius?" The look on her face made it seem like she knows what had happened between them. Lann faked a grin over his face to try and cover himself up. He just hoped he didn't left an obvious 'nothing is buried here' sign underneath a hole you covered after hiding your bag of money. "Well, yeah, I've know him ever since Middle School. I know he comes off as kind of intimidating, but he's one of the nicest persons I know and more mature than most of the other guys in class. If you ever need some help or something, he's your guy. Though of course, I'd be happy to do the same." And there's that humble attitude of hers again. Perhaps Lann's first day wasn't going to be a day in the longest circle of hell after all. Emilia has been nothing but a guiding angel.

"I think... Heh... I'd just stick around you." It may have come off as creepy, but besides trying to avoid Sirius and suddenly talking about that moment... Following Emilia around wasn't a bad idea after all. "She is kind and cute... That's a plus." Were his initial thoughts. Emilia directed her finger back towards the classroom.

"Shall we head back there? Mr. Collins should be coming soon, I can wait with you if you want to?" Lann's head shook in disagreement to Emilia's kind request, this time managing to maintain eye-contact for more than second before looking up to see another girl (Kat) approaching Emilia. It must be her friend or something. Lann's eyes moved over to the other girl as she began to drag Emilia away, saying something about homework or what not until they disappeared into the classroom. Lann giggled at the entire thing before he was introduced to a rather rough and heavy hand on his shoulder again.

He turned around to see a man with a set of books and folders around his armpits. He was wearing a buttoned-up shirt with a tie with a short stubble around his face and an untidy hair. "Ah. Mr. Langley. Arriving safely for your first day?" Lann's eyes was quick to recognise the plain white name tag on his shirt that read 'Mr. Collins' which would be his homeroom teacher.

"Oh, yes sir." Lann nervously replied back to Mr. Collins as he took Lann to the classroom.

"I believe you've met your tour guide Sirius?" Lann's look changed as he heard the name Sirius again. Mr. Collins seemed to not have picked up Lann's sudden change of mood. "Ah, I thought he'd be the right person to do this. Apparently not." Mr. Collins and Lann arrived inside the classroom. Everybody was already seated in a typical seating arrangement, all staring at the teacher as he walked in to the teacher's desk. He placed Lann in the middle of the classroom as they all then turned their eyes towards Lann. Both boys and girls. "For those of you who don't know, we have a new student today. Would you like to introduce yourself to the classroom or would you like me to tell them?" It was an offer that Lann couldn't refuse. He gave Mr. Collins a steady look before he looked away and began to unpack his teacher stuff.

Lann's face focused upon mostly the boys of the classroom. The girls around the room was largely ignored until he would see Emilia. As he looked around the classroom he was in, he began to speak in a confident and professional manner. "Good morning boys and girls. My name is Lando Langley, although I'd prefer to be referred to as 'Lann'. I am a transfer student from an all-boys high school not far from here. I am one-third German, Swiss and English. I guess you could say that I enjoy a perfectly made chocolate with a side of hot tea for breakfast." He crossed his fingers inside his own mind that his little joke would make them laugh. "I come from a very loving and supportive family and am glad to be able to be transferred here. So far, the people that I've met are extremely friendly." Lann made a glance at Emilia as he said it. "I hope to be a great addition to your class and certainly be looking forward to studying with you. Thank you."

Emilia had not noticed Kat approaching and was startled into silence at being dragged off like that again. "Class will start soon, you promised me to let me have a look at your homework Ems, remember? If Mr.Collins catches me without them again, I'll be in serious trouble!" her friend exclaimed while Emilia tried to throw Lann an apologetic look, but only managed to turn back around when they were in the doorway. She caught a glimpse of him being addressed by their homeroom teacher and was relieved that he'd not be on his own. Then she turned to lightly hit the hand holding onto her arm. "I was talking to someone, Kat!" she protested, ignoring some of their classmates laughing at the familiar scene. Kat ignored her and as they arrived at her desk, grabbed Emilias bag, rummaging around in it, and pulling out her notebook. Emilia sighed. "Maybe you should try doing your homework at home from time to time." she murmured, earning a pout from her friend.

She retrieved her bag and sat down in the seat in front of Kats, in the second row by the windows. She took off her jacket and shawl, draping them over the back of her chair and noticed Mr.Collins guiding Lann inside, placing him in the middle of the room. The students grew quite turning their attention towards him as the teacher started talking. "For those of you who don't know, we have a new student today. Would you like to introduce yourself to the classroom or would you like me to tell them?" he directed the latter question at Lann, who accepted that suggestion and after a look around, started introducing himself with more confidence than Emilia would've expected from his earlier behaviour. She was surprised to hear of his heritage, and laughed along with a good part of the others had his little joke, keeping the smile on her face as he continued and let it widen when he glanced at her while saying "..So far, the people I've met are extremely friendly."

"I hope to be a great addition to your class and certainly be looking forward to studying with you. Thank you." As he finished the class respectfully applauded and she heard the girls starting to whisper, while the boys openly greeted him. "He's kinda cute." she heard Kat whisper from behind her and she turned around to see her friend trying to stealthily copy her notes while the teacher was distracted.

Emilia turned her attention back to Lann, who was now directed to the open seat in the back, right between Sirius and Daniel, the latter of whom gave her a playful wink when he noticed her looking. She smiled back at him, somehow relieved that Lann had gotten sucha good seat. Just when she turned back around someone stepped beside her, clearing his throat. Looking up she saw Mr.Collins staring at the completely oblivious Kat with a raised Eyebrow and after a few second of complete silence in the classroom he stepped behind her, leaning over her shoulder, one hand resting on the table right beside the girls hand, who startled and froze, then slumped in her seat and put her pencil away, quietly closing Emilias notebook and giving it back. Seemingly satisfied, Mr.Collins went back to the front without any comment on what had occured, at least yet, and Emilia glanced back at Lann again, seeing Daniel talking to him, with his usual smirk on his face.

There was a mental, satisfied sigh. The people accepted his joke with open arms and they all shared a laugh as he delivered it square in the face. If it was one thing he had learned from public speaking, breaking some jokes during a very serious moment of the day can just about make them feel better. To also see Emilia grinning ever so widely after his comment made him feel as though he's redeemed himself for accidentally bumping into her. The people applauded as Lann finished, giving him an extra ego boost for himself before smiling and waving at the class in modesty. The usual commotion of the classroom broke free after the applause. "Okay Lann, since we originally wanted Sirius to be your tour guide... I placed you in the seat directly in front of him."

Lann's face as he heard what Mr. Collins had said made him clench his teeth. His eyes basically shrinking as he looked at the eye-ing Sirius in the back seat who waited behind the empty seat meant for Lann like an unhappy kitty. "Go on, take your seat. Sirius don't bite." Mr. Collins added. He had no idea what happened this morning and Sirius wasn't exactly the person he wanted to sit in front of. He had no choice but to comply as he shuffled along the isle while greeting several other boys and un did his bag and placed it underneath the table as he took a seat-- Trying not to look at Sirius. But Lann could feel the cold chills behind him as Sirius's chair creaked and Lann felt his breath freezing the base of his neck.

"About my sister..." He ghastly said. His whispery tone made it even more sinister as Lann rolled his eyes towards Sirius. "I won't ever forget about that..." The only thing that thawed this entire atmosphere was the incredibly energetic male student in front of Lann. He turned around, allowing his blonde hair to cover his part of his face as he introduced himself and Lann and Sirius began to have a go at going back and forth with each other. The entire awkward situation was made better by Daniel's intervention. For that, Lann was grateful. The entire lesson went on without a kink. Every now and then he would make a turn to look at Emilia to see how she was doing before getting back to his work. Mr. Collins continued to do what he loved best and that was teaching. Lann paid careful attention to what he wrote on the board and made his own annotations as he deemed fit.

Before you know it, the bell rung and signified the end of the intense two hours of class that they had. It was now their first morning break and the first thing that Mr. Collins said was; "Sirius and Katherine. Can I please speak to you before you go please?" Lann was standing up when Mr. Collins said it. He looked at him first before back to Sirius where he commented.

"Must be about the tour. I was supposed to be your tour guide." The statement was directed to Lann and he knew well that he didn't seem to be pleased about it. Regardless, he lobbyed himself to Mr. Collins before Daniel invited Lann to join and sit with Emilia and Kat. Lann couldn't refuse. Before he left, he rummaged through his bag and brought with him a bottle of water and followed Daniel to Emilia's desk. Since Kat was in trouble with Mr. Collins, it was decided that she'll just have to find them later.

"I'm disappointed in the two of you..." Mr Collins began to start his earful lecture at Sirius and Kat, although seemingly a little bit more harsher on Kat.

"Coming Emilia?" Lann asked her as they walked through the door.

Because Mr.Collins attention was closely fixed on mostly Kat during the following lessons, Emilia had no chane of turning around to make sure Lann was doing fine, but trusted her well mannered childhood friend in making sure of that. The lesson went on slowly, with many sighs from Kat, who was the poor victim who had to answer almost each and every question Mr.Collins could come up with, most of the ones left were directed at Sirius, making Emilia suspicious of Lanns earlier behavious concerning the usually really friendly classmate.

The lesson ended and both Kat and Sirius where ordered to the front and getting a good lecture with pained looks on their faces. Just when she was closing her textbook, and putting the things on her desk in order, someone ruffled her hair in a familiar gesture. "Daniel!" she exclaimed with frustration and turned around, her hands sorting through her hair for the second time that day, when she noticed Lann following closely behind her friend. She gave him a smile, then turned to grab her lunch and a bottle of water and got up.

"Comin Emilia?" she heard Lann ask, who was already following Daniel out onto the hallway, who was as usual totally sure she'd be catching up to them easily. She hurried through the door after them, throwing a glance back at Kat and immediately got scolded by Daniel who had watched her. "Don't pity her, it's her own fault." he told her seriously and she sighed, but nodded. The three of them headed thorugh the hallway together and Emilia turned to talk to Lann.

"So, any problems I can help you with, yet?" she asked in a playful tone, earning a raised eyebrow from Daniel. "I already met him in the hallway before class started." she explained, before turning her attention back to the other guy present with a friendly smile.

The morning break. Younger students ran about the hallways without any particular caution, often nearly crashing into Lann, Daniel and Emilia as they rushed past causing nuisance and annoyance. "Wow, the students here are just like my old school. Carefree and always looking for trouble." More of the young ones rushed past them, this time not managing to cause a fender bender in the process. Lann's expression were far more relaxed.

"So, any problems I can help you with, yet?" Emilia sounded as if she wanted to play about with Lann. Seems like Emilia is also the brainy girl in the class. Not only she has the cuteness, she too has the brightest of mind.

Lann's mind began to ponder about the annotated notes that he did when Mr. Collins were instructing them on how to make an essay for beginners. "Yeah, I do. What does he mean by having a clear set of thesis in your essay?" When Lann turned back to Emilia, there was a smile over her face as if she didn't hear what he had said. He inspected Daniel, but he was facing the corridor in front of him, seemingly unchanged. His face idled into the distant corridor as he walked together with Daniel and Emilia towards the staircase. When Lann was about to descend, Daniel began to take the stairs upwards which halted both two other parties that was with him.

"Aren't we going down Daniel?" Lann asked it with as much sense as possible but Daniel insisted.

"Let's change spots. Hang out in the rooftop for a change. It's better there! Race you guys there." WIth that Daniel took off upstairs and it didn't take long until he disappeared among the flight of stairs, leaving Lann and Emilia on their own again. Lann looked at Emilia and gave a confused shrug. Was it okay to be sitting in the rooftop? Lann didn't even know. He took a drink from his bottle of water and asked for Emilia's opinion before deciding himself.

"Should we go and follow him up the stairs? Or should we just be downstairs and wait until Daniel comes back down?" The question was as genuine as it could get. Daniel would probably force them to bend the rules slightly but those sot of thing were the behaviour that often annoyed Lann.

As they walked along the packed hallway, Emilia got distracted from Lann by the sudden smug look on Daniels face and scowled at him, but her friend completely avoided looking at her, a skill he'd perfected over the years. She heard Lanns answer and realized she must seem disinterested and seemingly not listening to him and that after being the one to having wanted him to ask away. She turned back towards him with an apologetic smile. "Ah, yeah, I guess that would seem a little confusing if you're not used to Mr.Collins. It's basically his way of telling us to be thourough, write coherently and put some effort into our essays..." she was about to go on when Daniel seemingly abruptly changed directions towards the stairs leading up instead of down.

"Aren't we going down Daniel?" Lann asked and Daniel just looked all the more smug answering: "Let's change spots. Hang out on the rooftop for a change. It's better there! Race you guys there!" and off he went, taking two steps at a time and in a matter of seconds he was out of sight. Soon enough his thundering footsteps got lost in the general break-noise as well.

Emilia sighed, shaking her head to herself. "I knew it!" she murmured, her suspicions had been right. "Should we go and follow him up the stairs? Or should we just be downstairs and wait unitl Daniel comes back?" Lann asked and she hesitated for a second. "He's just going up there because his buddies from the swimming-team hang around there most of the time. The teacher that usually checks on the rooftop is their coach so he tends to overlook it as long as they keep calm. We don't have to follow him, he's aware that I don't exactly like hanging out with a bunch of guys, especially without Kat. The three of us have been friends since Kindergarten so I'm used to him being an idiot sometimes." She gave an affectionate laugh and went on. "So lets just go down and get ourselves a nice place, Kat might join us in a bit, if Mr.Collins is having a good day that is." she told him, and lead the way to the stairs going down, looking back at him to make sure he was following.

The response was not what he had thought it would be when Lann asked her the question. Then of course, perhaps she didn't want to talk about studies during the break. Her apology was accompanied by a smile. "Ah, yeah, I guess that would seem a little confusing if you're not used to Mr. Collins. It's basically his way of telling us to be thorough, write coherently and put some effort into our essays..." It felt... Good to be making eye-contact with Emilia. Something about it made him feel so warm and nostalgic. He wasn't sure what this entire feeling was. As Lann thought over it, perhaps it was just a feeling of goodness that went over him for his first day, to be accompanied by such friendly people and a pretty girl.

Once Daniel could no longer be heard climbing up the stairs, he saw Emilia shaking her head. Lann felt curious about what's with her and Daniel. She blurted "I knew it!" But Lann couldn't hear properly what she said. He waited for Emilia to make a decision before somewhat giving a reason for Daniel going up to the rooftop. The three of us have been friends since Kindergarten so I'm used to him being an idiot sometimes." Lann and Emilia then shared a small accompanying laugh.

"A massive sausage-fest that'll be. I guess we'll just head downstairs then?" Lann asked Emilia before she too had the same idea with mind to Lann. He smiled as he stood with one hand in his poket and the other, the water bottle.

"Let's just go down and get ourselves a nice place, Kat might join us in a bit, if Mr. Collins is having a good day that is." Lann snickered at Emilia's little joke, but before they left he checked back to his classroom corridor to see if Mr. Collins had finished giving them an earful. So far it wasn't nearly finished. Lann quickly followed Emilia as he descended down to the first flight of stairs already with quick feet. She looked back to check if he was following her which he did.

They finally arrived by the school's front yard. People had taken their favourite places down along the grass or even some at the picnic tables nearby. Perhaps they were the students that had a class close to where the seats were. Emilia continued to lead Lann's stroll, moving towards the backyard of the school where the marathon field was and where the building with the indoor swimming pool was. There were also a smaller set of structures around the backyard and they looked well-kept. He wondered what those buildings were, figuring maybe if they were a social club area or something. Some students could be seen entering and leaving that complex, so it must be the case.

The backyard was just as beautiful as the front yard. Mostly grassy with some footpaths decorated with trees and shrubs of different varieties that made the wow factor. It was a place where breaks were looked forward to, instead of just taking it for granted. Lann's head continued to look everywhere, fascinated by nature's beauty that he never saw when he was in his old school. As he strung his eyes by, he stopped his eye by a particular good-looking girl. Green eyes, sexy lips and tied-up blonde hair. Lann wondered if he had seen her during his first class before, but it looks like she isn't from Lann's class.

Lann's attention was caught up so much, he nearly tripped over a large rock that no person should ever miss. He lost balance, but since he was good with his feet he was able to recover himself quick to his two feet. "Sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going." He laughed it off and followed Emilia again, frequently looking back to the blonde as he walked before they finally arrived within a quiet area around the back of the school. "Are you sure we're allowed to be here?" Lann questioned their whereabouts. It felt a little weird that nobody else was around. "Well I guess it's better if you don't want to hear a lot of the crowd." He took the first seat down on the floor and leaned against the back wall. His eyes looked across to see a lake from a distance on the base of a mountain. The sun was directly at them just at the right angle that it was warm, and the win blew a cold breeze that made the entire area feel cooler.

Leading him through the front yard, Emilia slowed her pace as she noticed Lann falling into a stroll while looking around. She kept on walking, heading for the usually emptier backyard, which also led to the marathon field, that swimmingpool-building and the social club area buildings. You could see some students entering and leaving, but durign this time of the day there weren't too many, yet. She wondered whether she should take on the roll of the tour guide for now, and point some things out or something as they bypassed the different places, but when she turned around she noticed Lann was, at least at the moment, occupied with staring at Ebony Misfud, a very pretty and equally popular- at least among guys, it was said she didn't get along with girls too well- senior, sitting on a bench underneath one of the trees not too far from the path they were following.

She sidestepped the familiar, large rock in the midst of the path almost automatically and was just about to warn Lann to do the same when she saw his food catching onto it and he lost balance. Unsure what to do, since she had been staring at him as he'd been staring at that girl. But then he caught his balance and firmly stood on both his feet. WIth a relieved sigh, she turned around before he could notice her having watched the whole thing and at the same time hiding a small smile she couldn't help but have. She decided that she hadn't seen him watching Ebony like that, because, for some reason, she was hesitant to tell him about her.

"Sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going." he said with a laugh and, reacting to his voice, Emilia turned back around, feeling silly and a little guilty for how she was acting. She gave him an apologetic smile. "Oh, sorry! I should've warned you, I'm just so used to sidestepping that rock..." she trailed off, not wanting to say anything about how big the thing was. She noticed him glancing back at Ebony as they continued on, soon arriving in a quiet, slightly secluded area, with a good view over the marathon field and the greenery besides it, and even the mountain way beyond it. "Are you suer we're allowed to be here?" Lann asked and she turned to him again. "Well I guess it's better if you don't want to hear a lot of the crowd." he added as he sat down, with his back leaning against the wall.

She sat down beside him, placing her lunch and waterbottle on her other side and leaned her head back against her wall, closing her eyes and soaking in the sun. "It's absolutely fine for us to be here, no idea why the others don't come her too often, it's a great spot." she reassured him while reaching up to gather her hair and place it over one shoulder to keep it from getting blown in her face by the wind. "So, when did you move here?" she asked him before reaching for for the little, brown paperbag besides her and pulling out one wrapped up half of a sandwich.
