I hope it's okay if I used Sunyshore as a birthplace for my character. I imagine that it might've been around in older times, but wasn't the advanced, solar-powered metropolis it is now.
Trainer’s Papers
Trainer name: Carl Welsh
Gender: Male
Date of Birth [Age]: 06/03/1899 [25]
Region of Origin: Sinnoh
Physical description: Tall and strong, standing at about 6'0" with dirty-blonde hair and a goatee. Tan with a strong build. Usually wears a plain white shirt and jeans, with heavy dark boots. Wears a golden-chained necklace with a silver anchor adorned on it. Speaks with a bit of bravado, but also some gruffness, and given his wartime occupation he doesn't speak like the most sophisticated Sinnoh gentleman.
Occupation during war: Dockworker. Helped in operating machinery such as cranes and pump booms alongside the help of Pokemon to load, refuel and, when his hometown of Sunyshore became a military port, reloading. Eventually was promoted to Assistant Dockmaster, but only for a short time before moving.
Post-War Occupation: Construction in the developing Goldenrod city. No one specific job, and as a result is a jack-of-all-trades of sort--although he is shown to be better at lifting when working with girders.
Brief Biography: Carl was born to Annamarie Colton-Welsh, a restaurateur and Jean Welsh, a civilian sailor in the small port town of Sunyshore. Growing up there, he had a fascination with marine work and boat design. As a child attending Sunyshore Juvenile Academy, he would often venture with friends over to the docks, and would help clean the crusted hulls of ships and small boats for a modest pay. He loved life at the docks, feeling the sea breeze and observing the sounds and sights of ships entering and leaving the harbor, puffing plumes of gray smoke. When he was old enough, him and his then-Machoke companion, Rucker, set out to work loading and refueling ships. Not a very respectable job, or a well-paying one, but it let him into a prosperous port, and it strengthened his bond with his Pokemon.
When war came, he was adjusted to life during the constant fear of attack. He spent a short, one month tour on an armed container ship moving supplies, but otherwise abstained from military activity. He continued to hone his skills and became one of the best in his craft. He was even eventually promoted to Assistant Dockmaster to help oversee activities considering both civil and military ships. However, ordering around those made him feel bored, and a couple even visibly resented him. He enjoyed the work, but was not doing as much as he had before, and felt left out. In a change of pace, he left Sunyshore to a new region, and to start a new life.
Against his parent's wishes, Carl packed his things and sailed to the Johto Region in 1923. Seeing he was a strong man of experience with stronger Pokemon, a contractor hired him to conduct and oversee construction work as a Site Manager. And since, despite certain discrimination from anti-Sinnoh folk, he had adjusted to life. He was aware that crime had made Goldenrod City a difficult city to live in, but he figured he could make the best of it. His Pokemon were well-trained and he had a good head on his shoulders, or so he was told. So he figured he could work his way in, and maybe stand out to help.

Pokémon’s Papers
(Limited to a party of four, none in storage: Your primary Pokémon will be the most skilled, and your fourth will be the least experienced.)
First Pokémon (primary partner)
Name: Rucker
Species: Machamp
Gender: Male
Type: Fighting
Physical description: [No shiny/coloured Pokémon, however physically defining traits are permitted.]: About normal for a Machamp: Burly, with greyish-blue skin, four, well-toned arms, pale yellow lips, and a split head crest, however, he was somewhat shorter than the rest of most Machamp, standing at about 5'0". Wearing a pear of black, legless tights, and a belt. However, this particular belt deviates from most Machamp, as the buckle is completely golden, and embossed in the center lay a silver anchor.
Met: [Location/Time]: Near Oreburgh City, 1908. Although fairly young, Carl was able to catch him as a Machop and train him.
Brief personality description: Brutish and intimidating towards most, but protective and compassionate over Carl. Slightly egotistical in a way that he often attempts to show off his physical prowess.
Relationship with trainer: [Quality, significant events in their shared history]: Almost like brothers. Rucker had spent a most of Carl's life with him, they're nearly inseparable. Rucker was originally caught while fending off a group of Houndour, which had been released into the wild by some trainer. Had Carl's family not been there to fend them off, Rucker may have been killed. Another instance was where a fault in the crane nearly killed Carl. While lifting a crate over to a ship, and Carl was directing it on the ground, the cable snapped, and had it not been for Rucker, who leaped and smashed the crate out of the way, Carl would have been crushed.
Move Set: (No moves post-Gen IV.)
[Dynamic Punch] [Rock Tomb]
[Brick Break][Ice Punch]
Second Pokémon (secondary partner)
Name: Lamplight
Species: Lanturn
Gender: Female
Type: Water/Electric
Physical description: [No shiny/coloured Pokémon, however physically defining traits are permitted.]: The normal looks for a Lanturn: Slightly bulbous, with a blue-and-yellow body, red eyes and two light-producing organs forming a lure. Wrapped around the lure is a Mystic Water amulet.
Met: [Location/Time]: March 8th, 1914, Sunyshore Port
Brief personality description: Relaxed unless particularly irritated. When she is irritated she can become hostile to others and discharge excess electricity, whether meant or not.
Relationship with trainer: [Quality, significant events in their shared history]: A strong bond, but not as strong as between Carl and Rucker. Lamplight was a more adult Chinchou living in the harbor when a fierce storm rolled in. Carl was attempting to secure all the cargo but could hardly see through the raging torrent of rain. When trying to find locks, the generous fish Pokemon gave her light to him to allow him to see, by drifting next to the dock and sticking her lures forward. In return, Carl fed and caught her as a thank you. She trained well for him and also served as a beacon, her ability to use her light proved extremely useful, and Carl values her as a strong and useful partner.

[Thunderbolt] [Signal Beam]
[Flash][Surf]
Third Pokémon
Name: Claude
Species: Drifblim
Gender: Male
Type: Flying/Ghost
Physical description: [No shiny/coloured Pokémon, however physically defining traits are permitted.]: Several shades of purple with yellow, beady eyes, and a cloud puff on top, tendrils that serve as arms are towards his inflated base.
Met: [Location/Time]: November 21st, 1917. Nearby a decrepit wind research station atop Mount Coronet.
Brief personality description: Moody. Although on good terms with Carl and his team, Claude can act imprudent and aggressive towards others. The cloud puff usually determines his mood. When clear and white, it means he is happy or neutral, it darkens as his mood worsens until it is a nearly-black storm cloud that swirls violently.
Relationship with trainer: [Quality, significant events in their shared history]: As he is newer to the team, he has not bonded as well with Carl as Lamplight or Rucker (Then again, very few Pokemon will probably ever have a friendship like Carl and Rucker's). Carl had been hiking up the mountain while on vacation. He reached a derelict old research station and settled by for lunch. He had noticed Pokemon moving in the shadows, but didn't think much of them, he ignored them and kept on going. However, without any kind of notice, two yellow strings grabbed him by his arms and began to lift him over the air. As he climbed higher and higher, he faced upwards in terror to see a purple Drifloon carrying him towards the sky. When suddenly another bobbed into it, and this second one caught him, bringing him back to the station. This Drifloon seemed friendly, and Carl offered some food and continued to hike upwards. He had called out his Pokemon in caution. However, the Drifloon flew towards him and followed him. Before a protective Rucker tried holding him off, Carl considered viability for catching it. Certainly it'd be helpful in spotting from above ground. He did so, and trained it. It was apparently well learned, and soon it evolved into Drifblim.
Move Set: (No moves post-Gen IV.)
[Shadow Ball][Fly]
[Psychic][Stockpile]
Fourth Pokémon
Name: Boris
Species: Rhyhorn
Gender: Male
Type: Rock/Ground
Physical description: [No shiny/coloured Pokémon, however physically defining traits are permitted.]: Short, with gray, platelike natural armor. Two fangs jut out from a large maw with two, small eyes. Stubby, 2-toed feet and a large spine going down the back.
Met: [Location/Time]: Southeastern Johto, May 18th, 1923.
Brief personality description: Sort of the "Big, Strong and Dumb" type. Brutish attitude and strong willed, but not the most intelligent or rational Pokemon around--fitting for a Rhyhorn. Although still adjusting to life with Carl, and still being somewhat difficult to handle, he tries to be friendly.
Relationship with trainer: [Quality, significant events in their shared history]: Boris is the newest addition to the team, and as a result isn't known too well of to have a powerful bond. He was caught as part of a rampant herd that escaped from the Indigo Plateau and made their way through Johto through the mountains. One nearly stampeded over Carl, but Rucker's strength managed to hold him back and keep him off. Carl saw him as a viable helper with travel given his strength, size and ability to travel long distances without needing too much rest. Although he was shown to be powerful and Carl hopes to raise him into a strong Pokemon.
Move Set: (No moves post-Gen IV.)
[Horn Attack] [Rock Blast]
[Crunch (Can be learned through breeding. Assuming that Pokemon breed in the wild I thought that the conflict wouldn't be an issue)][Roar]
