They descended from the sky in monoliths of epic proportions, with weapons and technology of a race purely focused on the idea of war. With ideals of diplomacy and peace suppressed, they focus only on conquest and acquisition of power. A society built around subjugating and defeating others must have the mentality and power to do it. Their empire has grown to span countless planets and solar systems, each planet's population is enslaved and forced to work for better status. Others of different skillsets are taken. Seeing those they defeat as weak barbarians, they treat them as little less than animals, those who do not obey them, are against them and are crushed in order to protect the state.
Through millennia of warfare and battle it is said they have forgotten who they once were, their flag details their long abandoned home system and once stood for morals of justice and liberty, now it symbolizes fear and conflict. With no culture of their own they take the ideas of those they have defeated all for the glory of the state. They are the conquerors, the oppressors, they are the Humani, masters of the Earth Empire. You have been taken, defeated and captured by the Humani, your fate in the hands of the most ruthless race in the galaxy. You sit in the back of a prison transport ship shackled to the ground by energy cuffs, they give you a good jolt if you get too fidgety so you decide not to move much. You hear the whispers, the rumors, the chatter of the other prisoners around you, there have been talks of the ship being headed towards Munera. You know the place, the largest slave trading world in the outer rim, home to some of the galaxy's most gruesome gladiator games, a form of entertainment unique to the Earth Empire. You have a clear idea of the fate the Humani are giving you and you are pretty sure you don't like it.
You and the rest of the prisoners are told to get up and are herded like animals onto a transport ship. For a brief moment, you catch a glimpse through a window of Munera. A planet of lush green jungles and vast swirling deserts, it would appear beautiful if the place wasn't your prison. When the ship lands, the doors open and you squint as the natural light pours into the holding cell, as your eyes adjust you see before you a large arena. This is Venationes, a small but fairly popular Gladiator arena, and it is your new home.

Pollice Verso is a painting by Jean-Leon Gerome created in 1872. The name means "With a turned thumb". The turned thumb was an iconic part of gladiator games in the Roman Empire. If you lost a fight and the audience gave a turned thumb, you were done (in the "get killed" sense).
This RP is about a group of POWs captured by the Earth Empire, who are sent to Munera, a planet near the edge of the Earth Empire's territory, to participate in bloodbaths for the entertainment of the spectators. The story will have the potential of our characters moving up in fame as Gladiators or moving up in infamy as rebels, and possibly even both. How far will you go as a gladiator?
Arena Guidelines-
As newly "recruited" Gladiators, our characters will be put in a group and trained by a retired gladiator in the ways of combat, past experience or not. There are multiple groups, called "Ludus", and you are to consider the people in your Ludus as nothing short of family due to the fact that people of the same Ludus never have to fight eachother, fight alongside eachother in group battles, eat together, and share the same cell block. Essentially, the people of your Ludus are the only people you can really trust. Our characters will all be in the same Ludus as to avoid dumb inter-player combat where it's difficult to decide who wins and also to increase the bonds of our characters. Each gladiator gets a lasered on tattoo of the marking of their Ludus so they can be identified as slaves should they escape. Our characters will be in the Lepus Ludus. Ludi are the equivalent of sports team, and popular Ludus are known widely throughout the empire.
Combat is only allowed in the ring anywhere else, it is punishable by death, as is most things. Unfortunately, there is a law in place set by the Earth Empire council and approved by the Caesar-Fuhrer that outlawed the option of Gladiators winning their freedom and puts the punishment of loss of one of the basic senses on any loser who is spared by their opponent.
Weapons-
- Vibro-blades and other melee weapons- the blade is the one of the oldest weapons recorded in the history of any worlds, the fact that it's usefulness hasn't been outlived only serves to prove its power. The Vibro-blade is a blade that vibrates at extreme speeds in order to generate extreme cutting power, comes in varying sizes
- Firearms- The creation of firearms truly signifies the potential of any race in their insight in how best to kill another. In the arena there are a whole assortment of firearms, beam weapons, ballistic weapons, and others. Each prove a reliable weapon that don't require as much skill and strength as melee weapons to use effectively in the arena
- Shield- When learning how to kill someone, the next natural step is developing a way of preventing that, thus the shield was created. The shields available in the arena are AS-12's, lightweight and about the size of a large china plate. There is a trigger in the holster that projects an energy shield, the shield can stay out for a short time and dissipates if it sustains too much damage, it requires 3 minutes before it dissipates.
- Practice Weapons- There are many non-lethal weapons in use for practice and training outside of battle.
- Other- There are tons of weapons I haven't thought of and are available for use. Keep in mind if you want anything different or specific that you are a prisoner and you are in essentially a prison that doesn't really give its inhabitants quality equipment, so keep it realistic, also there are no personal weapons, you get out there, choose a weapon from the rack, finish up, and you put it back.

- Players battling eachother is ehh meh ok I guess, I find it excessively boring and a bit broken in play-by-post RPing. I made sure it wouldn't happen (mostly) by giving the convenient rule that Ludus families don't have to fight eachother in the arena. If you really want to get In a scrap with someone...I guess you can...but if it goes on for a long time expect some bad shit to suddenly interrupt your battle and make you a big bad frowny face, courtesy of the GM.
- I is GM, I is power, I is GOD. Haha just kidding...but seriously though, I have the final say in any disputes that may occur about the RP. Don't worry, I'm mildly sensible and all about equality, though I did create a RP about social injustice and historical irony.
- If you read this long-ass shit I give you a cool bean. Write, "Wow I really smell today" at the end of your CS in any way you want, make sure to vary the words so people who didn't read these can't identify it as the rule password. Then when they don't know why I'm not accepting their CS, we can point and laugh at them.
- This RP is mostly streamlined by us, I just make the setting and help progress the story in whatever direction we go in, I have ideas and I personally like the idea of Lepus Ludus becoming super famous and stuff then turning on the Humani and starting some kind of rebellion movement, but, hell, if you guys want to do something different, I'm down to clown with that.
- Romance is totally fine, although anything that can get you banned and this RP closed is a no-no.
- No humans. Those things suck.
- 2 Sizable Paragraphs is the limit, you can cut the short if your imagination is running dry, but don't make a habit of it
