Well, since the characters are obviously familiar with their masters and have trained before the start of the story, maybe this is leading to, or near their graduation.

So we're using the trainers who they already know? Or just some...new ones from the White Lotus? Preferably the former. Bison would be a helluva laugh to truly interact with.
