"You'll soon be doing the same thing," Shiranui replied, "Whether it's this round or the next."

"Well, we need to get some sleep soon." Liam said. He was right, when you considered a full night's sleep and everything that would have to be done to get ready, noon was very early.

Shiranui's semi-final battle was now on. His opponent was a trainer from Kalos and his first Pokémon was a Durant. "Durant, the Iron Ant Pokémon. They attack in groups, covering themselves in steel armor to protect themselves from Heatmor." He sent out Kettobasu and one Blaze Kick was enough to knock it out. The next Pokémon was Haxorus. "Haxorus, the Axe Jaw Pokémon. They are kind but can be relentless when defending territory. They challenge foes with tusks that can cut steel." Shiranui switched Kettobasu for Titania and after Mega Evolving, two Moonblasts defeated Haxorus. Next was a female Meowstic. "Meowstic, the Constraint Pokémon. When in danger, it raises its ears and releases enough psychic power to grind a 10-ton truck into dust." A well-aimed Shadow Ball that struck Meowstic's weak spot knocked her out.

Fourth was a Typhlosion. "Typhlosion, the Volcano Pokémon. If its rage peaks, it becomes so hot that anything that touches it will instantly go up in flames." Typhlosion covered Titania in an Eruption that left the Mega Gardevoir burnt and felt a Psychic afterwards. A Lava Plume took Titania out. Shiranui sent out Yamamoto and a sandstorm broke out due to the Tyranitar's Sand Stream ability. Typhlosion changed the weather with Sunny Day and Yamamoto finished Typhlosion off with a Rock Slide. The last Pokémon Shiranui had to face was a Talonflame. "Talonflame, the Scorching Pokémon. When attacking prey, it can reach speeds of up to 310 mph. It finishes its prey off with a colossal kick." Talonflame struck Yamamoto with Acrobatics that did a lot for a not-very-effective attack. Yamamoto launched a Stone Edge at Talonflame and a critical hit knocked the fiery bird of prey out. Shiranui secured a spot in the grand final where he was certain to face his own friend Liam.

It was time for Liam to face his rival, Trevor. Trevor called on Pigeot, and Liam called Volt, the Elekid.
"Pidgeot, Wing Attack!" Trevor called.
"Electro Ball!" Liam called. A ball of electric energy formed between the prongs on Volt's head as he swung his arms. The ball hit Pidgeot, and Pidgeot smacked into Volt.
"Ariel Ace!" Liam called.
"Ice Punch!" Liam replied. The icy attack froze the bird solid.
"Now, Thunder Punch!" Volt ran forward and smacked the frozen bird with an electric fist. Pidgeot was KO'd and Volt evolved into an Electabuzz.
"Electabuzz, the Electric Pokemon, and the evolved form of Elekid.Electricity runs across the surface of its body. In darkness, its entire body glows a whitish blue. It loves to feed on strong electricity. It occasionally appears around large power plants and so on."

Pidgeot was replaced by Rhydon. Liam switched Volt out for Hydro. Trevor switched Rhydon for Venasaur. Hydro was instructed to use Iron Defense.
"Razor Leaf!" Trevor called. the leaves shot out and scrapped Hydro's shell.
"Ice Beam." Liam called. A Blast of ice hit Venasaur, doing a lot of damage.
"Vensaur, Vine Whip." Trevor commanded. the green vine came out and smacked Hydro a few times.
"Hydro Cannon." Liam ordered.
"Frenzy Plant" Trevor commanded. Both attacks hit and activated the abilities. After both Pokemon took a moment to recharge, the battle resumed.
"Vine Whip." Trevor called.
'Hydro, Ice Beam!" the attacks hit and made a double KO.

Trevor called Rhydon back out and Liam went with his Venasaur. Liam had his Vensaur use Sunny Day. Trevor chuckled, thinking Liam made a mistake. "Fire blast!" Vensasur was hit hard enough to trigger Overgrow.
"SolarBeam." Liam called. The attack hit and OHKO'd Rhydon.

Trevor called on Arcanine next. Arcanine used Fire Blast and finished Venasur. Liam swapped Vensaur for his Rhydon.
"Attract!" Liam called.
"Solarbeam!" Trevor called. Rhydon dodged the 4x's attack and winked at Arcanine, who fell madly in love.
"Drill Run! Liam called.
Arcanine was too lovestruck to avoid the move and was hit critically.
"Earthquake!" Liam called.
"Solar Beam!:"There was a huge tremor and Arcanine lost footing. It was fired instantly, but the tremor making him lose balance caused Arcanine to propel itself upward. The sun then returned to its normal state
"Flame Wheel!" Trevor called.
"Horn Drill!" Liam called. As Arcanine came rocketing down as a ball of fire, Rhydon slammed her spinning drill into him, KO'ing Arcanine Trevor called on his last Pokemon, Gyarados.

Gyarados KO'd Rhydon with a Hydro Pump. Liam sent Volt back out.
"Earthquake." Trevor called.
"Thunder Punch!" Liam replied. The quake took Volt out, but not until after he gave the Gyarados a good right hook. Liam now sent out his next Pokemon, Sherlock, the Alakazam. The crowd "ached" at the sight of a discolored Alakazam.
"Gyarados, give that Alakazam a good bite and send us to the finals!" Trevor called. Liam chuckled. He held his arm out into the air and pressed the KeyStone. "Mega Evolve!" A flash of light engulfed Sherlock, blinding Gyarados.
"Bite again!" Trevor called.
"Barrier." Liam said. a shield appeared and Gyarados bit into it instead.
"Hydro pump!" Trevor called.
"Ice Punch." The frosty fist met the blast of water and froze, all the way to the source. Gyarados' mouth was open, unable to smash the ice free to close its mouth.
"Thunder Punch." Sherlock vanished and reappeared next to Gyarados and smacked it with an electric fist, KO'ing it and shattering the ice into a harmless powder. Liam was declared the winner, and the final was set to begin at sundown.

The MC was amazed that Liam too had Mega Evolution, and that this will make for an excellent final round.

Shiranui saw the battle and was later at the Pokémon Centre thinking about which Pokémon he would use against Liam while his Pokémon were healed.

Liam was also deciding which Pokemon to use.

With fully-recovered Pokémon in hand, Shiranui decided on his party and made his way back to the stadium as the time for the final battle drew near.

Liam had made his team as well. Liam went to Shiranui, "Say, what region would you like to go to next?"

"Johto," answered Shiranui, "It's close by and it's my homeland."

"Mine too." Liam reminded his friend. "Well, good luck out there." He said.

"Same to you," finished Shiranui.

The grand finalists were at each side of the battlefield. "This will be a full-party single battle with no time limit," stated the official, "Begin!"
"I open with Titania!" Shiranui called his Gardevoir out.

"Grimm! You're up little buddy!" Liam called on Duskull. "Grimm, Shadow Sneak!"

"Titania, Moonblast!" Grimm used the shadows to sneak up on Titania and give her a sucker punch. Titania fired a blast of moonlight at the Duskull.

Grimm took the hit. "Shadow Ball!" Liam replied.

"Double Team!" Titania made several copies and raised her evasiveness. The Shadow Ball managed to score a hit.

"Forsight!" Liam commanded. Grimm attempted to remove the false Titanias.

[James Davy]

"Titania, Shadow Ball!" The Gardevoir clones vanished and the real Titania threw a ball of shadow energy at Grimm.

Grimm was hit. "Disable!" Liam commanded. Grimm attempted to put a block on Shadow Ball

"Taunt!" Titania taunted the Duskull out of using Disable.
