" So, Yamato evolved huh? Rain Dance!" Liam called. The Sandstorm was replaced with a downpour.

"Yamamoto, Smack Down!" The Tyranitar found the rain barely tolerable, but focused on the battle as he threw a rock at Zapdos to try and ground the bird.

"Protect!" Liam called.

[James Davy]

The rock bounced off the shield. "Yamamoto, Stone Edge!" Three rings of white light were conjured around Yamamoto that formed into stones as the Tyranitar charged at Zapdos.

"Rock Smash!" Liam called. Zapdos lunges toward the Tyranitar, trying to deal a 4x's damaging move.

Both attacks collided and did super effective damage. The only difference was the amount of damage received—despite Zapdos' attack exploiting a double weakness, it only did minor damage. "Yamamoto, Stone Edge again!" With stones orbiting Yamamoto like a planetary ring system, the Tyranitar started charging again.

"Detect!" Liam called. Zapdos saw the attack coming and perfectly evaded it.

"Smack Down!" Yamamoto threw another rock at Zapdos, hoping to ground the bird.

This time the attack worked and Zapdos was knocked to the ground with a crash. "Discharge!" Liam called. Zapdos stood back up and shot electricity off in all directions.

Yamamoto was electrocuted from the Discharge and was already starting to feel exhausted. "Yamamoto, Earthquake!" With Zapdos grounded from the Smack Down, it was no longer immune to ground attacks and Yamamoto took advantage of the fact by stomping the battlefield, sending forth a powerful quake.

Zapdos took the hit. Liam then instructed Zapdos to become airborne again and use Sky Drop.

Zapdos grabbed Yamamoto's shoulders and tried gaining altitude, but the Tyranitar was too heavy to be lifted into the air*. "Yamamoto, Stone Edge!" Rings of stones orbited around Yamamoto and were launched at Zapdos.

* Sky Drop will fail if the target weighs 200 kg (440.9 lbs.) or more as they would be too heavy to lift.

the stones hit due to proximity to Zapdos. As Zapdos backed up, Liam called for it to use Charge.

"Brace yourself, Yamamoto!" Shiranui warned, "Earthquake!" Because Zapdos was still vulnerable to ground attacks due to Smack Down, Yamamoto gave the battlefield a stomp and sent a mountain-shattering tremor at the bird.

(Even though Zapdos is airborne again?) The bird felt the tremor. "Wild Charge!"

((Smack Down lasts until the affected Pokémon is switched out.))

"Protect!" Yamamoto conjured a green shield and Zapdos' attack crashed into it. Thankfully for Zapdos, the shield wasn't a damaging move.

"Rock Smash!" Liam called.

"Yamamoto, Stone Edge!" Both Pokémon charged at each other and when their attacks collided, an explosion issued forth.

The smoke cleared to reveal both Pokémon knocked out. "Yamamoto, return; Titania, I choose you!" Shiranui switched the fallen Tyranitar and sent his Gardevoir back out.
