OKAY. So. I'll help a bit.

It's been roughly 2 weeks since the start of the game. Ninja's highest at ~13 iirc, with everyone hitting a cap at around 10 up until this point due to EXP scaling. The core group (Ninja's chars, Caits' chars and my two) are all at Tolbana, which is basically the raid base for the first floor.

My characters are going to be sidelined until story resumes in a few in-RP hours.

Well, thanks PKMNB0Y and lightbox for taking over the summary/explanation.
What has been said is most of what you need to know

Anyway, it is by your choice whether you start at level 1 or somewhere between 1 and 10.
Since it is still the early stages of the game, level 1 can still work, since there would be those still afraid to have left the town of beginnings and such.

The choice is yours. Oh, by the way, lightbox and hailfire as well as regendorf. This has not been stated on the guidebook yet, that you start off with two skill slots and that at level 9 you get a third skill slot. Thinking that about every 8~9 levels at the moment to get another skill slot to equip at the same time. If you have evidence somewhere that the level you get a skill slot is different, go ahead and tell us. This was just simply based on Kirito's level and the number of skill slots he had at level 96 (12).

OK thx for the info...
This will come in handy as I already decided to start at level 1
Was looking at the available weapon types and from what I can understand the Jew players have only 2 weapon types to choose from. Short Sword and Rapier, other weapons need a high proficiency with either one of these or another type, depending on the weapon type.
For example katana from what I gathered requires you to have high prof in 1h Sword, this unlocks Scimitar. After unlocking Scimitar and training it to a certain point you receive the Katana skill
So at this point still not sure if I should go towards one or the other...as not all weapon type have been discovered at this moment. Allegedly there are a unlimited number of sword skills in game.
Now with this information in mind, we should be able to obtain most any melee weapon we desire...right?

Well all this was a fancy way to say I want claws ;)

Edit: well I guess Claw is a better term and maybe later acquire the skill prof to dual weild them...

Well Regendorf
There was nothing here has been no indication that 1h-straight sword is required to unlock 1h-curved sword.
And in-fact, 1h-curved unlocks Katana skills but only after doing something special (which I am not sure of, but appears to be equipping a special katana first)
We have neglected to do that, since people wanted katanas, so we have gotten rid of this particular extra skill. We may introduce others later, if we see it fit, but most weapons are allowed.

On that note, claws are a legitimate weapon in SAO, and are definitely available early on, although, I do not know if they were unlocked or were allowed from the start. For this we will probably allow it from the start, regardless. The player in SAO, Argo, which has very little time in both the light novel and anime, but has more on in the Progressive series, is a player who utilises claws, and uses them at least from the second floor. So yeah. Go ahead and use claws.

Edit: Hm... unsure about the dual usage of claws. I don't have details whether she used two or not. In fact, there are no details. And it would contradict the theme of only one person having the unique skill <<Dual wield>> unless the two claws count as one set equipment, therefore, one weapon, hence, not dual wielding.

Later, can we make our own sword skills, once we get to a certain floor or something?

(In Alfheim, I know there was a system that let you record your own sword skills, but I don't remember what it was called.)

Well .... that was in Alfheim, not in SAO.
Also it was called the Original Sword Skills.

Technically, you cannot, but we are open to having some sword skills added in. However, we will probably set a limit of sword skills per weapon set, and hence, there will not be any more skills after the last one is unlocked.

CS done.
Will start off with a short sword and I'll RP some unarmed fighting to acquire the claw skill. I'll put it like this, the rule book (probably)states that your way of fighting can unlock skills that you may have never known existed, so go forth and try out shit...well without the shit part. So at some time after level 5 the claw skill will be unlocked.

Please ignore any typos for now...gonna edit it once I get home. Phone has a clunky keyboard

Um.... Well, you can't do unarmed fighting before the second floor, as you need to unlock the Extra skill <<Martial Arts>>.
Just go ahead and use claws after you find some or buy some in the RP.

Anyway, I don't see anything wrong with your CS at the moment. Just kind of waiting on the stuff you plan to update before I really give an all around okay. But since you want to post before you decide that, I am fine with accepting it for now and then seeing you update before giving you the 100% okay.
It looks fine to me, but wait for Caits input.
I doubt Caits will reject it though, unless I overlooked something.

This is something that just came to mind....
Probably a bad idea but here goes nothing
Dual Weild as we saw in SAO was awarded for top attack speed.
But what if I took my character towards versatility?
Starting from a low level Kingetsu swaps frantically (maybe wrong word) between claw and sword. Gaining him later on the skill to use one of each. This would combine strong claw attacks with swift sword atacks.
Thus I don't step on anyone's toes. Only thing that would impede this other than your ruling is whether its possible to swap equips in combat.

Aye sir no unarmed combat

I am going to have to say no to that ....
Swapping during combat, requires to open the menu while attacking, and etc, so it would not be feasible
Also, things would seem out of place with any sort of post-motion going on

Why not just use two claws, and we call it a single item, rather than individual claws. The durability acts in combination, so although the left may be used a lot, the durability of both claws go down since they are one weapon.

Well if Caits thinks your idea is fine, then I can't really complain, since I am only the Co-GM. Caits has final say. But yeah, I personally do not see it as something that would really work and is not appropriate.

I would say that swapping skills without opening your inventory would be a unique skill.

so no, you cannot have that. I, and Ninja, will discuss who should have a unique skill, but ultimately, it will be my ruling. If you wish to create unique skills, go ahead! But its still my ruling as to whether or not you will be given it!

Then we all agree...it wasn't one of the best ideas, will bring up unique skills again if I ever get to the third floor or higher.

As for Ninja's proposition, may I equip a claw and consider it equipped on both hands?
