So you guys have been in pokemon roleplays before, yes? You play the trainers or the pokemon...but never the bad guys. No one seems to want to play evil characters in Pokemon. [strike]Probably because it's a kiddie game and I'm way too old to still enjoy this[/strike]Call me crazy, but I want to play the bad guys.
So here's the idea: In a Pokemon world heavily based off of the games with some anime/manga influence, our characters are one of the common groups of travelling trainers, trying to collect badges through Kanto and reach the Indigo Plateau. They're just starting their journey when some of the characters (about half) somehow find a Team Rocket member(s).
And they get talking
And suddenly they're recruited.
BUT...here's the catch. They CONTINUE the journey with the group and perform TR jobs on the side. None of the TR members know who is a member and who isn't (at least, not in the beginning of the RP. They may reveal themselves later on.) and the good guy trainers are getting suspicious. So, the object of the roleplay is to continue being evil for as long as possible without getting caught. At least, evil like Sandman and Mr. Freeze are evil. You know, a villain you can bond with. Hopefully not in the way that Sandman and Mr. Freeze bonded with sand and cryogenics...
Members will probably get one good guy and one TR guy. Maybe more, if not many people join. No one will have the same pokemon as another. So some people can have the Kanto starters (no other region starters, since this is Kanto) and some won't. (I won't.) I will have a Normal-type character and a Grass, Bug, or Poison type character.
NOTES ON THE WORLD:
My vision of Pokemon is not at all like the anime. The pokemon are relatively sapient (smart) but humans aren't quite sure just how smart they really are. Pokemon don't say their names over and over, either; they make animalistic sounds that make sense for the animals they resemble. Pokemon eat eachother. Unlike the anime, most pokemon are not omnivorous. There's a wide variety of carnivores, omnivores, herbivores, frugovores (eat fruit, seeds, nuts), insectivores (eat insects), autotrophs (photosynthesize, aka the more plant-like Grass-types) freakin' Venus Fly Traps(the Bellsprout line)...The more humanoid ones can parrot human languages, but not well.
And yes, people eat Pokemon here, and most do not have a problem with that. I would gobble up fried Octillery in a heartbeat. (My favorite food is calamari.)
And yes, all the pokemon and generations are available. However, the non-Kanto pokemon are really rare. We won't find them as often.
