Synopsis:
A retelling of the story with Hades & his ride Persephone. Hades struggles to give his new wife the love she wants, while battling the urge to claim her. In the meantime, Persephone struggles between her desire for freedom, her duty to her new husband; she wishes to be free, but Zeus has made it clear that the new marriage is binding, & she must stay with Hades in the Underworld.

Persephone awoke to find herself alone in bed. Every morning, or at least what she assumed morning was, she would awake to find her husband Hades disappeared from the other side of their massive bed. Not that it was too terrible for her to endure; Hades wasn't one for much conversation, & even seemed to avoid it. Persephone didn't understand what the God wanted from her even now; why would he forcibly take her to the Underworld if he didn't even like her company?

With a slow, drawn out sigh, Persephone dragged herself from bed & quietly padded to the wardrobe to clothe herself. Outside the palace windows it was dark & silent as usual. The Underworld seemed to always be in the transition of dusk, with pale, violet skies & a cold, quite blanket of nothing for miles. Other than the River Styx that flowed in winding patterns all over the lands, nothing seemed to happen.

"I just want to go home..." Persephone mumbled to herself. She clutched the fabric of her new dress before realizing she was creasing the material & released it. She missed sunshine, flowers, & companionship. If only her husband would talk to her, her days would be less of a struggle. All she could do now was wait for the six months in this hell to be over & return to her mother. & she was only half of a month in.

Hades, the dark god of the underworld, the scary brother of the three. No that wasn't all to him. He wS always up early to get his work done sooner so he could spend more time in persephones embrace. He knew it made her mad that he wasn't really there for her and when he was....he didn't want to be too close to her.

Oh how much he loved that goddess. He loved her more then any riches could be given to him, any world around him he loved her and only her truly with all the fibers of his heart. Well his undying heart. He sighed as she sat doing work, grumbling at it annoyed. He had been up an hour before Persephone and sighed gently . He growled at the skeletons and they backed away from the god. He sighed gently.

"Ugh I just wished she would be mine....but she can't " he sighed gently gently into his hand.

"I just want to go home..." Persephone recited for what seemed like the billionth time that day. She put down the flower embroidery she'd been carefully sewing together & got out of her chair. She began to pace back & forth in front of the room's fire. She had free reign over the whole palace, but in truth, she was too nervous to wander off alone. What dwelled in this land of eternal dusk?

Some scrolls to read from would be a good start. With a nod of her head, Persephone straightened her back & left the bedroom, venturing out into the hall. Her confidence quickly dwindled, however, when she realized she'd gotten herself lost in the halls. How would she get back? Could someone find her before too long?

With nothing else she could do Persephone began to wander the marble corridors alone. A slow, uneasy mood seeped into her as she continued walking, but she was lured to a specific direction, & figured there was no harm in following a gut feeling. Persephone continued on until she came across a large, heavy set of doors. They opened without her touch & allowed her inside, revealing the almighty river of Styx. A small pathway led to Hades' throne, currently empty, but Persephone was quickly able to figure out what this place was for.

"Lonely..." Persephone breathed out as she wrapped her arms around her shoulders, feeling a sadness creeping into her body. Was this what Hades was exposed to all the time? Maybe that was why he took her away from home & brought her here. It was so lonely in the underworld, & the dark god wanted someone to bring him company. But why did he pick her? & why did he seem to favor this poisonous river over her? Maybe he regretted taking her with him.

Admitting that to herself made Persephone feel more lonely before. It was a terrible, desolate feeling she'd never been exposed to before. Bringing her hands up to her dampened cheeks, Persephone hid her face in her fingers as she silently began to weep. What kind of life would she lead now, avoided by her husband & any other signs of life out there? She just wanted to be back in the sun & flower meadows, where her only concern was her mother's occasional bad moods. This place Hades had brought her to... it was hell alright, & almost seemed to be crafted just for her.
