The Troupe is a band magicians that have been traveling the country for years, putting on magic shows and amazing the young and old alike. There is a catch, the group is made up of actual Mages who are using their magic to put on a show and make a profit. Make something disappear? That object was ACTUALLY teleported somewhere else. Pull a rabbit from a hat? That rabbit was ACTUALLY conjured from nothing within that hat. You get the picture.

However not all is well with The Troupe, and a couple of organizations has their eye on the group. A small branch of the U.S. government has learned of the existence of Mages and wishes to use their near limitless power for their own agenda. They are hot on the trail of The Troupe, and have the time and resources to attempt to capture a member or two. Also The Troupe is being watched heavily by other Mages. While they are warding off Demons and fighting inter-dimensional threats, The Troupe is off gallivanting around the country putting on magic shows. This has angered (and in some cases, made jealous) the rest of the Mage community, who could decide to put a stop to The Troupe's fun.

I feel like this RP is going to encompass a few different themes. It will have a Slice of Life feel between shows and before and after performances, with characters interacting
with each other. Then it would be like a performance RP, with you describing the actual actions your character takes on stage. Finally there would be some action sprinkled in, with the occasional government and/or Mage raid.

I imagine this RP being made of around Four or Five people. There are already 3 seats taken (Myself and two others), meaning there are one/two open seats. If you are interested please submit a CS here. Then submit a sample post to me via PM.

Here is an example character (and my character during the rp)

Name: James "Jim" Morgen

Stage Name: James The Displacer

Appearance:

Age: 141 years old, but appears to be in his late 20s

Personality: James is a warm man, and treats the other members of The Troupe like they are his family. He is very hard to make angry and even then he doesn't get angry for long. Forget and Forgive. As a Mage James is humble, he doesn't like to show how much power he has at his disposal, but likes to stick to simple tricks. On stage he has a large persona that fills the room, and always captivates the audience's attention. James usually opens shows, doing tricks

Likes: Classical Music, Oranges, Top Hats, Mustaches, Soft beds, Good Friends

Dislikes: Hecklers, Mangos (he has been betrayed by orange colored things being mango flavored one time too many), Liars, Spiders

Backstory/History: James was born in 1873 to a small New England family, and from a young age he was different. He didn't like to play with toys, or be around other children, and small object would constantly go missing around the house with James claiming he made them "disappear". This worried his parents immensely, and they just wanted a normal child. However Jame's "condition" worsened, and eventually he was sent to go live with his grandfather. This ended up being exactly what James needed, as his grandfather shared Jame's "condition". James and his grandfather were Mages, beings who could tap into various arcane abilities. His grandfather taught him the ins and outs of his powers, and ended up raising the boy. James excelled at making things "disappear", transporting objects into pocket dimensions than could later be retrieved. Eventually James moved out of his grandfather's home, a better man and Mage. He traveled the world, learning more rites and skills, before he had a revelation. Being a Mage was fairly boring. Lots of reading in stuffy old libraries, sitting in circles and muttering incantations. James wanted to have more fun, with all this power why not use it for the enjoyment of yourself and others? This is when he formed the troupe, and has been putting on magic shows ever since.

Name:
Julian Wilde

Stage Name:
Wilde

Appearance:

Age:
23 in appearance, mid fourties in age

Personality:
Julian is a dick. He cares about himself above all else and will drop things that bore him without so much as a hint of hesitation. He gets satisfaction out of living for himself. Does he have a heart under his layers of ink and flesh? The answer is a solid maybe.

Likes:
Women, ink, adrenaline, high places, falling, flying, being loud, liquor,

Dislikes:
Bullshit, boredom, tacky things, large bodies of water, cars

Backstory/History:
Julian's childhood was a grungy affair. He ran away at a young age, discovering his natural talents shortly after. His natural talent being that he was capable of jaunting (teleporting or warping, as known to most people) anywhere he pleased so long as he could picture the place in his minds eye. The only way to disable his ability to jaunt was to either give him a concussion or disorient his sense of space, both being extremely difficult things to do given his gifts in fighting and all around street urchinry. At sixteen, Julian committed his first major crime, jaunting into a bank vault with an electric saw and leaving with half of the bank's safety deposit boxes emptied. For a short time in his life he exclusively committed high risk crimes solely for the entertainment of it, looking for any adrenaline he could get. Often times he didn't bother to keep what he stole. He'd dump it in trashcans or just leave it out on the side of the street for people to fight over. His crime was eventually replaced with an interest in climbing and falling, both of which weren't particularly high risk hobbies with his power, though he would always find a way to make what he was doing a little more death defying. Skydiving without parachutes, rock climbing without harnesses, as well as climbing any tall building he laid his eyes on. As with all things, Julian eventually grew bored and moved on to something new and decently exciting. Jim Morgen's magic troupe, full of bonafide mages just like himself.

Name: Margaret West
Stage Name: Margot

Age: 75, appears to be in her thirties

Personality:
One word: Showoff. Margot is an illusionist, and as such likes to make an impression on people and their senses. She loves the performing part of her job the most, and feasts on the sound of applause. This of course can go to her head, at times making her look rather self-important and boasting, although she most of the time is like that in joking manner. On personal level she is just looking for some appreciation.

Likes:
Being the center of attention, sweets, green tea, expensive items

Dislikes:
Loneliness, boredom, being overlooked, anything lower on evolutionary scale than a fish

Backstory/History:
Born as the only child in a filthy rich family, Margaret was expected to do great things like her ancestors. Unfortunately, she never quite managed to live up to her father's expectations of being a noblewoman, always being "good enough" but never great.

When she reached the age when she could jsut leave on her own, she did. Initially she did common jobs such as being a maid, however during this part of her life she discovered her talent for making illusions. Initially being just able to alter the perception of things, she soon learned how to make someone believe something that isn't even there.

Realizing her power had some potential, she had enough moral integrity not to use it for crime, although it was indeed tempting. Longing for success and crowds liking her like her father never did, she started performing on the streets, eventually finding her way to the Troupe.

Hadrian Blackwood

Age: 92, appears to be in his early twenties.
Height: 6' 4"

Stage Name: Phoenix
Specialty Magic: Fire Manipulation

Personality: Much like his signature element, Hadrian is a walking bonfire of emotion. He is boisterous, loud and over-the-top in every possible manner. Just make sure not to piss him off, because when he gets angry, he is quite possibly the scariest thing on God's Green Earth.

Likes: Fire, incredibly hot (both in temperature and in spices) food and drink, especially his own cocktail mix which involves copious quantities of vodka and chilies. Jokes, pranks and anecdotes are also favourites.

Dislikes: Rudeness, anyone who broods a lot, quiet people (they're no fun!), people with a fear of fire. If you really want to piss him off, abuse an animal or child. In that case, you might as well write your will there and then.

Backstory: When his powers first manifested, they did so rather... explosively. This led to him being placed in an orphanage, where the others quickly learned to respect him and never, never pick on anyone when he was around, because failing to follow those rules often resulted in serious burns. Unfortunately, he was caught playing with fire several times and branded a pyromaniac, forcing him to remain in the orphanage until he came of age. He made a living as a blacksmith for a while, using his powers to heat the metal to the perfect temperature, but abandoned this trade when he came across other Mages. He has been honing his powers ever since, and joined up with the Troupe at the drop of a hat simply because it seemed like fun - something that should tell you a lot about him. Since then, he hasn't looked back.

perѕonalιтy:
Carries herself with poise and self-esteem, emitting a regal air around her. She often makes witty and sarcastic comments. She is impulsive, and doesn't mind the consequences of her actions most of the time. She is usually impatient, and gets bored easily. If she doesn't have a certain degree of respect for you, your words fall on deaf ears. Victoria is always looking for something fun, and is always disinterested in things that are mundane. She is always focused on her objectives and goals, making sure that she accomplishes them even if it meant putting someone else aside. She always follows her own rules, and never does anything just because somebody told her to. Victoria never lets anyone know what she is up to. She doesn't let anyone peak into her cards as long as it's not necessary for her plans. Although it appears that she doesn't care about anything, she is protective over those who are important to her, but doesn't show it.

ℓιкεs:
•Anything that isn't too dull and tedious.
•Learning new things, she is always looking to gain more knowledge.
•Having things go the way she planned.
•A little chaos. She enjoys watching the drama unfold.
•Mystery.

∂ιsℓιкεs:
•Anything repetitive and ordinary.
•A person's ignorance; lack of knowledge.
•People who are slow to catch on.
•Anyone who can't take a joke.
•Those who take what they have for granted.

вacĸѕтory/нιѕтory:
She belonged to a wealthy family of mages and alchemists. Her family ancestors practiced Alchemy, turning base metals into the noble metals, thus the reason for their family's wealth. She never followed into the practice of alchemy, much to her family's disappointment. Years later, the neighborhood began to suspect their family for being a part of some cult organization. Her parents barely aged and their wealth just kept growing inexplicably. They moved to a farther town and her parents began to grow paranoid about letting her out.

While her parents were away, she went out to town. That's when she met James, another mage. They got engaged in small conversation, that eventually led to her agreeing to join his plans in forming The Troupe. She went back home that day, her parents furious with her. Since she was already eighteen and old enough to start a life separate from her family, she bought her freedom by giving her parents glimpses of their future. She excelled in fortune telling and hypnosis that would last for a limited amount of time.

Name: Mortalis "Monty" Passio

Stage Name: Mortalis, he's used Monty for so long that almost no one remembers his real name so he uses it as a stage name.

Appearance:

Accessories:
- A tip from the good doctor. The case is made from wood twice struck by lighting, very powerful for Voodoo work and hard to come by. He has also made it a point to become efficient in the use of the blade part as well.

- A keepsake, while he hates his father and more importantly the Plague Lords Monty nonetheless keeps the ring as a reminder of simpler times.

Age: 114 years old, appears early to mid 20's.

Personality: As a plague lord and a savant, Monty was almost completely apathetic to the the regular humans and it was only through the brief moments he was allowed to meet with his mother that allowed him to chip away at the apathy with compassion. However he learned his lesson too late and in the process hurt many, many people. After leaving the order he becoming a laid back necromancer and herbologist, trying to ease the misery caused by death and disease through herbal remedies and talks with dead relatives.

Likes: positive emotions, tea, swamps, forests, and Cajun food.

Dislikes: Negative emotions, soda, alcohol, abuse, and phonies who pretend to talk to the dead for money.

Backstory/History: Monty was born to house Passio, one of the 12 plague houses of Nurgal. The houses were founded under the belive that disease and misery were a fact of life, a gift even from their god. However even as a child Monty didn't much like it. Sure he could create disease and sickness better than most of his peers, but he wasn't too keen on the misery part. He was just too good a kid, much to his fathers annoyance. Eventually it was time for him to take on the trial of plague and so he did. He spent almost a week on his disease and while the others spent only a day or two on theirs, they only got several thousand infected each and very few died. But not Monty's, no. When he unleashed his plague about ten thousand became infected and a couple hundred died. While on the grand scheme of things it wasn't all that great of a loss, some third world county that no one cared about. However Monty saw the misery and the pain first hand... he couldn't stomach it. He soon left the Plague Lords and never looked back.

For Monty it was the last straw. His usual diseases were cast on criminals and scum but this...this was different. The emotional backlash he gained from the loss and death overwhelmed him and while his father was never prouder, Monty was completely sick with himself. He left the order shortly after he was made a Plague Lord. After this Monty traveled the world, searching for a purpose and eventually finding it in the British Isles. There he learned the secrets of Necromancy from a powerful and kind shaman who used his power to help others cope with their lose.

Finding joy and companionship under the Shaman once again, Monty stayed for about a decade until he decided that his knowledge would be of better use outside the Isles. As Monty traveled the world once again the Plague Lords butted into his life, trying to get him back into the order. When he refused his father attacked him, calling him a disappointment and worthless. As the fight went on Monty was forced to do the one thing he despised most...taking a life. His father had gotten out of control, throwing plague after plague at him and while he deflected each spell they were adding up and they could spread to others not so magically inclined. Using a spell he learned from a wandering pyromancer Monty lit his father ablaze and was forever marked from that day forward as a traitor to the order and to be killed on sight.

Finding it too dangerous to stay on the eastern continents, Monty made his way to the Americas and found himself in Louisiana. There he yet again fell under the wing of another master, this time in Voodoo. While with the good doctor Monty didn't learn how to make voodoo dolls, make zombies, or create hexes...ok maybe the hexes but most of his time was devoted to herbology. As he studied underneath the doctor he also learned how to banish evil spirits from people and places, like an exorcism but minus the holy spirit. Eventually Monty learned everything the doctor could teach and became an honorary witch doctor and voodoo priest, gaining his facial tattoos as a result. Several months after he left the priest, Monty came about a circus. In all intents and purposes it was a regular circus but underneath all the glam and glitter Monty could smell it. Magic. Meeting the ringmaster after the performance they talked and became fast friends.

Now Monty goes were the troupe goes and while his particular set of skills aren't much for shows his tent does sell herbal remedies and the occasional commune with the dead.

Name: Vincent Williams

Stage Name: The Piper

Appearance:
Vincent has light brown hair, green eyes, is of a rather thin lanky build, reaching approximately 6'2. He tends to dress in a dark charcoal pin striped suit and is never seen without his his pocket watch and cigars.

Age: 119, appears to be in his mid to late twenties.

Personality: Vincent is generally quiet and reserved. While he comes off callous (watching people die can do that to you), he is rather gentlemanly. However, Vincent has been known to be rather vicious when angered. Angering him though is relatively hard to do, that is unless you screw him over somehow. When angered Vincent doesn't show it, if it just so happens that the person who angered him can't remember who they are oh well. The only sure way to escape his wrath is if he percieves you as part of his family, which the easiest way to find out is to piss him off and hope for the best.

Likes:
-Messing with people's heads
-a good joke
-silence
-gambling
-a nice relaxing drive
-high quality cigars
-learning people's dark secrets

Dislikes:
-snitches, liars, thiefs, (people who screw him over)
-nicknames
-having people call him Vinny
-being called sonny
-crappy cigars
-losing money

History: Vincent was born to a single mother of English descent in lower east New York City. Growing up in a neighborhood of Italian immigriants and their children Vincnet was often picked on and bullied for his heritage, which was made even easier due to his thin lanky build. However, never one to give up Vincent often tried to fight off his attackers, until he eventually realized, at the age of nine, that while he may not be able to defend himself, he could certainly find some kids who could. The next time that he was confronted by the children in his neighborhhood he was accompanied by several older children, whom he had bribed to work for him with a promise to let them keep whatever the bullies dropped. Needless to say after that Vincent wasn't bothered much, as he always had his entourage of lackeys to protect him. It was at this point that Vincent learned that with the right words he could make anyone do as he wanted.

As he aged Vincent realized he could get more and more from people with less and less actual benefit to them. At the age of seventeen Vincent started running books for a small branch of the Italian Mafia. After a few months though he was confronted by one of the made members (a full blood Italian member) he worked for. The member accused Vincent of trying to steal from them (which he in fact was). Vincent however, turned the tables on the made member and convinced the head of the family that it was in fact the made member who had been stealing. After essentialy sealing the man's fate, Vincent was given run over the rest of the bookies in the area and was invited to join in on the bi-weekly games of poker that the higher ups in the mob enjoyed. Slowly working his way up the chain through the mafia Vincent found himself in a posistion he couldn't get past. As the prohibition started he realized that even though he had spent the past eight years with the mafia he could climb no further because he was not a made member, rather only an associate. Refusing to give up though Vincent was resoundly astounded when he managed to some get the family to view as a full member.

With his new spot in the family came a new job, negotiating with other gangs. While many of his fellow made members often had their deals break down in violence Vincent never once had a deal go bad, in fact he always seemed to end up with a better deal than what was orginally agreed upon. Due to his ability to get anyyone to follow his commands he was given a nickname of "The Piper" by the family. It was during these dealings with other gangs that Vincent really began to pick up on his abilities. He had always realized he had a way with words, but he had soon realized that he was getting impressions and signals from the others around him. The more he concentrated upon the more he could derive from them, eventually after months of honing this skill he was able to pinpoint what it was. He could read surface level thoughts and had an ability to manipulate people with his words.

By the eighth year of the Prohibition Vincent found himself actually in control of an area of New York as a new head in a branch of the Italian Mafia. This posistion of his in the family did not last long though, as the man before him had left quite a mess behind. Shortly after he took over, the police were knocking on the door. After his men had failed to fight off the police, the police began to round up the ones still alive. Yet with a few words to one of the cops with his still quite new found powers he was on his way out the door, hands still free.

Instead of returning back to the mob though Vincnet decided to seek out more about his powers. Spending the next few decades learning more about mages, and committing the common con now and again for money, he found his way to The Troupe. Now he uses his power for his favorite purpose messing with people, and making money.
