Idk how much I can say without giving away major plot points, but he's a Secret Service agent that was sent to investigate the disappearance of these other agents and he can't escape the town he's in. I'd recommend the books first because you get more than the show gives you, but the series is really well done. It's acted nicely, and visually, it's gorgeous. I guess it helps that it's set below a mountain and everything is green and pretty, haha.
