I'll never understand why so many people are scared of talking about politics.

Being that this is the OOC thread for an RP, though, perhaps we should take it to the IRC if we don't want to keep smothering the thread in posts.

I agree with all your points except the mental history check. Not because I think it in of itself would be bad, but because that then gives the Government more leeway to look into your medical history. Also allows for future discrimination of certain rights to people because of certain issues.

Who determines what a loose mental grip on reality is though? I agree that those are issues and they shouldn't own a deadly weapon, however what about those who have been through severe mental illness but through counseling/medication are over it...because of their past history the Government denies them certain rights. "You cannot own a gun because when you were 14 you were suicidal" can quickly become "You cannot vote because your mental history does not allow you the ability to do so rationally."

It's just this is a game and I'd rather not have a falling out with someone in it over political views (which has happened before).
