You'll have more options and be in a better position as Portugal, but it's ultimately up to you, obviously.

Honestly, I think Portugal isn't that great of a choice. They're not really on par with any of the other European powers and after this wars end I imagine everyone is going to be going colony crazy. Do whatever you think would be most fun for you though, imo.
