In WiR when it's an election year for you, you just say who you want to be the new president in your orders and I think he'll roll for it.

Jefferson Davis was appointed to a six year term as President by the Confederate legislature. The CSA president could only serve one term. You're good on that front for quite a while.

The election had already happened back in February and Davis was selected with his VP Alexander Stephens for a term of six years.

What I read is that as Provisional government they only served a year before a real election later that year...

Yeah, plus it wouldn't make much sense considering the major victory at New Orleans...

But it still doesn't make much sense using an order to decide it. Are we sure that's how it is?

Well with the current state of things there isn't a whole lot to be said until the update. They've already committed to the war just waiting to see what happens for that year.
