Modern day they are quite close but I don't know when that relationship started.

The cold sort of relations. France screwed over the Netherlands a lot during the Napoleonic Wars, and the Dutch decline was then aided by an empire-hungry Britain seizing many of the Netherlands' colonies. Mind you, that was fifty years ago IC, but I don't imagine things have changed much as far as attitudes go.

You guys went to war 30 years ago and the Netherlands through a PU with Luxembourg holds the strongest fortification in Europe bar Gibraltar and allows Prussian troops to man it. I would imagine they aren't that great. OTL there is a crisis in 3 years about the Prussians in the impregnable fort.

Yup Nex, there is a slot open for you. I assume you want the Netherlands? Also I got bored of waiting for bahamet1, and I'm assuming he isn't coming back. So there is also a slot open for Dannaroo, which is good because he is first on the waiting list and I'd feel bad about giving Nex a spot before him. But it is unfortunately too late for this update, so you will have to wait until next week.
