They'll be spreading forces that could be used elsewhere thin that and the people might not even be interested in such a conflict.

Preventing the Anaconda plan will still help the CSA a lot. Since the USA can't blockade the CSA then they can't prevent them from getting supplies. They wont also be able to split them in half as they cant seize New Orleans, and invading it via land is to risky.

And I am definitely interested in seeing the response of the people in the UK as well. I think it might not be so bad since all we are doing is sending ships to patrol what is considered an "economic interest" in the Confederacy. We won't really be pursuing a true war with the Union unless something drastic changes, but the Anaconda Plan is hopefully shut down. I love alternate history!!!

Quick question, we have those regulars. Are they already stationed in places around the world or just in the home nation?

By 1861, two-thirds of their army were just child soldiers. They're pretty much a done deal.
