torture etc is the norm. The guards aren't to go to far though under most circumstances as it would be counter productive for the kingdom. As in the case with Rumiko's character. Still.

As a Riding Instructor an Trail Guide I often feel as if I'm an over glorified Babysitter
Worst of all my trail Clients are usually all adult an Men who haven't a clue that even now that the Rocky Mountains are a dangerous and that they should listen to me the Girl they hired because I'm State certified
Why they hire me and then argue when I tell them what's safe and what's dangerous I'll never know
Heck Last Year I had to kill an Elk out of season because two Noble prize winning morons wouldn't listen when I told them to keep their distance while taking pictures

The way that Lela's speech is constructed is actually really pretty. Most of the time when people are trying to make their characters speak broken English it just sounds awkward and unnatural.
