Which is a weird weakness. all you need is a life jacket and you'd be ok. And it only hurts them in still water, moving water, or human manipulated water, or rain, doesn't bother them at all.

Well like even more of this planet is sea; and not only do they sink being in water saps there strength so much they nearly pass out in many cases.

Unclear as far as I know; but even if they could breath they would be so weak they could hardly move and this worlds oceans aren't exactly filled with friendly creatures.
