I was around when spam was actually made as a subforum (on the old site in 2009). There's nothing glorious about it -- we just needed a place to put all the forum games.

Mhm. There was one forum for Spam, Member Lounge, Gallery, and Off Topic. It was a huge cluttered mess. Then in '09, Spam came along and that's that.
