The creator had a advertisement of his on avatar creator site on tektek. Gaia didn't like it and notified him about copyright things and claim they just wanted him to remove it. But it appears the creator just gave up on it and just shut it down for good

He was sent a DMCA which he would have to dispute. He was required to take the site down. That's probably when he gave up because it's an absolute pain to deal with. Gaia is probably just trying to cover their butts with saying they only wanted him to take the ad down.

Perhaps. I dunno. On one hand, I understand why Gaia did it. It is their stuff he was using (even if it's been pretty much allowed for ten years) and they basically don't want to lose business to a rival site. And the ad he put just put 3 months prior before the notice.

On the other, it still sucks and to be honest, most people who went to tektek soon went to Gaia. Most probably didn't pay any attention to the ad.

But then again, tektek was pretty broken already since it was crashing a lot and not really updated a lot. Tekton was probably just going to drop tektek anyway.

Oh yes, it was within their right to do it. I never used Tektek or bothered with Gaia so it never affected me one way or the other.
