"Ah," Tai replied simply with a nod. So, a variant on a gunblade then. That was interesting, in terms of combat applications, though not being able to stab something and shoot it at the same time had to be a bit of a drawback. Then again, all it really required was a different fighting style, and somehow Robert was still alive using it, so it seemed to work for him. Well then, that would be interesting to see how their combat styles would match up.

Just as he finished speaking, they emerged from the forest into a large prairie, and surprisingly Tai thought much the same thing as Robert did, making them both Masters of the Obvious. Coming to a momentary stop, he scanned the area with a careful eye to detail, looking to see if he could locate something that would show where the artifacts they were here to retrieve where, if it was indeed in this location. "I don't suppose you see any sign of the Artifacts," he asked, unsure as to the direction they should head next.

Savan Sat on a log while is now partner paced and jumped around while thinking. While Jack was doing his strange thinking ritual Savan merely sat there looking up at the sky while twirling his umbrella, he thought he saw a figure in the distant sky and heard cries from up above. After sitting there and whistling the entire time his partner finally stopped and broke the long silence,
“I think something is up there”
“Hm?” Savan stopped looking up and tilted his head towards Jack who was actually talking to himself.
"Well, I don't know if whatever we're meant to get is up there, but I haven't seen any Grimm all this time and that's a bit boring..." Savan watched as he sighed and turned around to talk directly.
"Yo Savan, let's go up this mountain. Race you to the top" And before Savan could react all he saw was a bluish trail of lightning up the cliff.

“hey wait up will you” Savan said as he stood up and looked up the mountain… what should he do, walk up casually and let his partner do all the work? or have some fun?... the second option would be more amusing so fun it was.
And with that decision Savan stood on the log jumped up and slammed back down onto the log to transfer energy between the log and ground, and after about a meter or 2 of the ground he transferred energy into the log sending it slamming back into the ground while still spinning and Savan soaring past while twirling at high speeds, almost passing jack, but not quite as Jack had already reached the top a few seconds before Savan came twirling past up above the mountain top. He then crashed down on his legs staggering and wobbling around… He was extremely dizzy after the stunt he pulled, so dizzy he couldn’t see anything properly.

“sooooo um…. what do we have up here huh?” He asked while staggering around.

Apparently, hoping for Emlyn to be faring well in the fight was a bit too much to ask for. He couldn't blame the guy, since he'd been bowled over and nearly killed himself. His eyes still moving between each target, Auriel decided to heed his partner's advice, and turned and ran. Hard. "RUUUUUUUUUNN!!!!!" Pushing his body, Auriel turned his head for a moment, swiping behind him with his sword. He had no machinations of actually hurting his pursuers, but he hoped that the swing itself and the drilling motion of his sword would be enough to keep the Itzamna at a safe distance for now. A feral screech from behind chilled his bones, but the leather-clad swordsman kept running.

The terrain was still a bit uneven, and there weren't many places they could conceivably go to for shelter. Groaning, Auriel decided that his best bet was to keep moving until he found something he could use to his advantage. He couldn't tell how close the Grimm on his heels were, so he put as much power into his legs as he could, desperately running as hard as he could. He didn't even check on Emlyn, he was so focused on surviving. But as he reached a descending slope on the mountain, Auriel knew he couldn't keep going. Giving these things the high ground for even a moment meant certain death.

"Emlyn, we don't have a choice! If we go down, they'll tear us to shreds! We've gotta fight them here!" Looking back to the Itzamna, Auriel groaned. They'd taken down two, and five were still left standing. Taking a deep breath, Auriel stepped forward, screaming as he charged at the closest Grimm, Blinking behind them all and appearing in front of the one at the back. The monster took a step back in shock, but it was too late. Spinning blade caught the raptor-like creature between its arms, tearing through flesh, muscle and bone like tissue.

Yanking his sword back and turning to face the other four, Auriel called to his partner. "I hope you're good at fighting to survive!" He couldn't imagine Emlyn being a poor fighter in a one-on-one scenario, but outnumbered two to one was a different battle entirely. Now, it was about not getting hit and waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike.

Robert pointed to a hill that was not too far away. The hill almost seemed to be the only bit of land that wasn't flat. "Maybe that hill? If it isn't, at least it will give us higher ground to try and see the artifact in this sea of red grass." So they continued walking towards the hill. Robert noticed several Sitting Bulls in the distance, all scattered about. They weren't close enough to be a real threat though, so Robert ignored them. Robert looked behind him to see a large mountain and all he could think was how large that mountain was compared to their current destination. "I'd hate to have to climb that thing. Looks like it would be grueling work," Robert thought to himself. Robert then squinted at the mountain, he was sure that he saw about seven small dots that he assumed were either people or Grimm. Robert turned his head back to the hill in front of him. "Man, I haven't fought any Grimm all day. Nature has been attacking more than Grimm. I'm almost disappointed. I kinda hope there will be something to fight when we find this relic. They wouldn't leave the relic unguarded would they?" Robert thought to himself.

Tai looked up to the hill that Robert had pointed out and nodded in agreement. "Sure." It seemed as good an idea as any other they could present, and getting some sight on the nearby terrain would be useful, given the wide swathes of red that currently surrounded them. As they walked, he noted the Sitting Bulls nearby, but none were close enough to be a threat, and apparently hadn't noticed them, so he paid them no real mind for the moment.

At Robert's comment on the mountain, Tai glanced back to look at it as well, impressed by the scale. "Yeah," he agreed succinctly, before his attention returned to the path ahead while Robert commented on the lack of Grimm killing for him all day. He shrugged in response to the question. "They would if they wanted to test us on our ability to fight together, rather than just basic pathfinding skills. So I would say it's likely." It wouldn't be much of a test otherwise.

Greyson jumped around the red trees as he jumped smiling as he jumped around sightseeing seeing all the red around him. Greyson was a nice guy if only a big smart mouth when it came to comments as he carried his huge broadsword on his back in its compact for which was still large on his back but was thankfully covered with his green cloak as he jumped looking around for the relic the teach wanted them to grab, right now it seemed like Greyson was the only one who hasn't found a partner yet.

Greyson was always around but he liked to jump around and not stay in one place for long, seeing as how he was able to evade people easier then most people can manage and right now Greyson was starting to think about dropping to the ground to let someone find him, Greyson jumped around flipping around on the trees until he felt the tremor of a beowolf below him hitting a tree and Greyson tripped on the tree and fell to the ground. Greyson had to quickly jump away before the beowolf could hit him with its claws then as Greyson got back on his feet he grabbed his broadsword and pressed a button before it extended to its full size which was as large as his body with his shotgun on its blunt end.

Greyson charged the beowolf and before it could slash him with its claws he used his counter and it paralyzed the beowolf and immediately slashed its chest as it turned back to dust. However that wasn't the only beowolf, apparently he was being surrounded by a bunch of them waiting for them to try and attack him or if a person comes to help him deal with them...

So this was it. All her training for years led her to this moment, this test. It would secure her place in Beacon, the world's most renown school for hunters and huntresses. All she needed to do was focus in, find a partner and get out with the artifact they were supposed to retrieve. No need to kill any Grimm, no need to get into fights with any of the wastes of breathe that made up the other test goers. All she had to do was focus and succeed...

The rapidly approaching ground beneath Laura broke her from her inner monologue. It was time to get going. The violent hissing that the zip line made as she slid down it was complimented by a mechanical clicking noise, Laura's gauntlets roaring to life and follow their master's will to choose the proper kind of dust. No sooner than the sharp needle within the metallic cuffs find its mark above one of her tattoo channels and rip its way into her skin did the young huntress release the bar she held so tightly to.

The rest of the way would have to be a free fall.

With a confident smirk on her face, she willed her aura to life. Shimmering white light fired its way through the twisting and turning tattoos that coated her body, replacing the blackness of the ink with the purity of dust. Summoning the unique properties of the energy surging across her flesh and igniting her body with its power, the girl bent her legs to her knees, aimed herself towards the ground and kicked the air behind her, releasing a violent burst of dust to send her crashing towards the earth.

This motion was followed close by the arrogant fighter tucking her knees up to her chest and curling into a ball, rotating like a buzzsaw at speeds concerning to most. But not to her. For as she detected the earth closing in towards her body did she summon forth more strength from her dusty 'weapon'. Unraveling her body at the last moment, she landed with perfection. Two feet crashed into the red colored plant life below, a shock wave of glorious white dust following. The impact, of which would have normally shattered her legs was dispelled by a perfectly timed burst of dust-infused aura.

A perfect landing for an utterly perfect girl, the cocky blonde thought. Her bared feet resting against the soft grass below, Laura peered to her left and right, trying to locate any near by students. With luck, she wouldn't get an utter moron stuck on her for the rest of the year. Nobody she had yet met during her brief stay at the school had impressed her enough to warrant her targeting them specifically, but impressing her was something few would ever achieve. She needed not someone impressive, just someone confident enough not to get in her way. So her search began, the glowing white energy pulsing from her tattoos dying out as its master willed it away.

Trico looked at her Boomerang and pondered as she walked along. 'Hmm, I wonder if I can just my Semblence as a homing beacon to track down the artifacts' she thought. So, stopping, she threw it up in air. It span for a few seconds in the air, as if confused, before stopping, and falling into Trico's hand.
"Right...so, I can't target inanimate objects? Or I can't target what I can't see?" Trico asked herself, before targeting a tree in front of her, and then throwing the boomerang directly upwards again. The boomerang rose to it's apex, and then directly made a bee-line for the tree, dodging vine and branch to cut the front of the tree and then return to Trico.
"Right." She repeated, before shrugging and replacing it, continuing on her journey though Forever Falls for a while. There where some noises around, but she ignored them, and tried to get some of the tree sap she had heard was really tasty, but couldn't tap any, and so proceeded onwards in a sulk. After a while, she saw a blond haired girl with tattoos all over her body, but no visible weapon. Even so, she rose her hand and started to call out, when a roar came from the surrounding area. Frowning at her hand, she raised it to wave again, and the roar repeated.
"Cool! I can make roars when I raise my hand!" Trico exclaimed, before an Ursa burst though the undergrowth between her and the blond tattoed girl, snarling as only a bear could snarl. "Or that, which kinda makes more sense really" Trico continuted, before roaring back at the Ursa. She then withdrew her Boomerang and threw it at the bear, activating her semblence and then heading to the blond girl.
"HimynamesTricoitsreallygreatomeetyouletskillanursa!" she exclaimed quickly, in one long breath before the boomerang sliced the bridge of the bears nose and returned to Trico's grip, where-upon she replaced it and withdrew her staff.

Emlyn went into something of a panic. One down, all of that energy expended, his Semblance used up, and he'd only killed one. He was more than happy to hear Auriel heed his warning, and whipped back around to sprint away with him. He found adrenaline was filling the gaps in his energy with each step; undoubtedly more of the fear than anything. His heart sank however when he saw Auriel come to a screeching halt at the beginning of another decline.

He was more in-tune and listening at that point, even though he didn't like what he heard next. His partner was right though, the high ground was giving them the advantage and if they sacrificed that they'd be dead for sure. He turned as Auriel made another charge, and readied himself. When the front few were distracted by his partner's teleportation, he took the opportunity to launch Mirror at them. It struck clean through another, and returned with haste, but it did draw the attention of another.

The Itzamna charged, but this time Emlyn was ready, and Mirror shut into a shield before the claws came down. The force was enough to bring Emlyn down to a knee, but he held tight, dug in, and then shoved forward. The Grimm stumbled, but barely, just enough for him to get back to his feet and slash out. The outer rim of the shield dug into the beast's chest, but didn't severe through, and though it roared in pain, it also struck out with a reflexive slash, catching Emlyn's shoulder and tearing one of the spaulders free.

He screamed, though more in shock than pain. He could feel everything still, and his skin was hardly nicked by the attack. He ripped Mirror free, letting out a roar of his own, human as it might have been in contrast to the Itzamna's. The shield portion retracted, and he gripped the chakram properly again, before swinging out and cleaving through one of the raptor's legs at the knee. It collapsed, but Emlyn was not finish; he leapt atop it, grabbing Mirror with both of his hands, and brought it down on the Itzamna's neck. Once, twice, three times and then four. The thing was dead, that was for sure, the downside was his awareness dropped entirely to the other two remaining monsters. If he would have been aware, he might have been praying that Auriel was more attentive than he was.

As Emlyn's own battle raged, Auriel stepped forward to fight half of the remaining Itzamna. He made a wide stance and stood tall and proud, exaggerating his frame to grab the attention of the two that hadn't already gone after Emlyn. He'd have to hold their attention while Emlyn handled the one he hadn't killed outright. The pair that hunted him, apparently having learned from their allies' failures, both attacked at once, sharp teeth and claws raking at him. Leaping back while slashing his sword, Auriel managed to avoid the first dual attack. The two Itzamna started circling around him in opposite directions, trying to trap them between them. If they did, he could always Blink away before an attack landed, but that was leaving too much up to chance.

Rapidly moving towards one of his attackers, Auriel blocked the resultant attack with his shield, stabbing his sword at the Grimm, only for no attack to land. Great, they knew how to feint, and not recognizing a feint was pretty embarrassing for a Beacon student. The Itzamna had copied him, leaping back, only it decided to follow that up with a forward leap, one massive claw aimed to tear at him. Desperately jumping to the side, Auriel managed a roll, quickly recovering from his failure. His breath came slowly and heavily, but he still had a lot of fight in him.

There weren't many times that Auriel wished he'd listened to his weapons master and tried to put some ranged component into his weapon, but now was one of those times. Even a few bullets or a small grenade would be of immense help. Still, his Semblance could fill that gap when it was absolutely needed. Blinking towards the Itzamna he'd moved away from before, Auriel took a sweeping swipe at the Grimm. His sword managed to make contact, but the damage was superficial: he hadn't even cut through its skin. Not a drop of blood was in sight, an unpleasant fact for Auriel. He grunted, stepping forward and slashing again, only for this attack to have the same effect. Stepping quickly to the side and turning to the other enemy, Auriel paused when he noticed that it had barely moved.

That was disturbing, but when both charged him again, Auriel understood what had happened a bit. They weren't taking any chances again. In that case, Auriel would need backup as well. Slowly moving to Emlyn, he spoke to his partner. "Hey, I see that you're...doing your own thing, but I'm in a bind with these two on me at once. Can you keep one's attention while I get the other? Hell, kill it if you want, just don't let them swarm me."

"Alrighty then..." Priscilla said to the girl who seemed to be in her own little world, it seems that she didn't even want to be part of this test. The pink haired girl shrugged as she would turn around
, now trying to find someone else to partner up with, she wanted to be with the girl because well it was a girl and they would've been very good friends. Also there is the whole them meeting up with someone and then instantly they become partners for their rest of their lifes in the beacon. "Where to go, where to go?" Priscilla bit her bottom lips as she shrugged and skipped around, like a little girl would on a garden while throwing flowers and stuff.

"Oh! I hear something..." Priscilla said running to the noise and seeing a guy and some beowolfs, she smiled and got excited, absolutely forgetting about the beowolfs who surrounded the guy. "HELLO!!!..." Priscilla waved her arms in the air, saying hello of ofcourse, the beowolfs turned to face her, her eyes widened as she grabbed her weapon. Beauty's Thorn, it was in it's normal form, the katana stance, as her personality quickly changed and she looked up at the Beowolf now charging at her. Priscilla would run to the Beowolf, using her semblance as she phased through the creature, like a ghost would pass trough a solid object, as she would become solid once again and jumped now going on the Beowolf's back as she impaled the neck with her Katana and ripping it off.

Priscilla would jump on the ground, make a few blackflips "Wohwohwohwoh!" She said accidentally falling on her butt but she quickly got up, she wasnt the best acrobatic girlie. Her weapon now turned into rifle mode as she would look at the Beowolves and she began shooting at them. "Hahahaha! Boom boom ANNND."

She got infront of Greyson as she would switch her weapon to the kwan doe mode. "I'll protect you sir!" Priscilla said as a Beowolf ran to them but she grabbed a hold of Greyson's hand as they both phased being unharmed by the creature. "I got this!" The pink haired girl yelled but she waited to see what the guy would do. Is he her partner?

Greyson watched and waited for his moment at least that was his plan until he saw a pink haired girl yell hello to him loudly enough for the beowolfs to go after her but Greyson watched as the girl actually walked through the beowolf! Greyson never seen anyone do that and that must have been the girls semblance as she then went solid again and jumped on the beowolfs back and sliced its head off, honestly this girl was funny as she jumped around acting like a goof but Greyson thought she was kinda cute that way. Then when she grabbed his arm and said that she would protect him Greyson didn't realize until a beowolf passed through both of them, apparently as long as someone touches her while in semblance they can both be like ghosts and pass through anything. Right now Greyson was thinking he got a prize for a partner as she yelled that she would handle it but their was no way Greyson would get shown up yet.

"Nah I got this cutie" Greyson winked to her before he jumped onto the blunt end of his sword and used the shotgun to propel himself towards a beowolf riding it like a skateboard through the air then he jumped on the sword before he brought it through a beowolfs head slicing it in half, then as he hit a tree Greyson used another round to go up into the air and then he spun downwards towards a small group of them and slashed straight down one while the other two were frozen by the mere shockwave as Greyson then slashed them both fairly easily. Then Greyson turned to see the girl getting charged by another beowolf and Greyson used a shotgun round ride as he called it and got to her quickly before freezing in his spot as the beowolf tried to lunge at him but instead got frozen in his tracks as the attack failed and Greyson proceeded to slice through it and whatever beowolfs were left were running with their tails between their legs...

"now that was fun" Greyson said turning to the girl then he bowed to her and kissed her knuckle like a gentleman "Greyson Ortega at your service milady and I am glad to have you as a partner" Greyson said before standing straight up smiling at her...

"Nah. I got this cutie." Said her new partner as her face turned red from blushing and saw him now going to kill the Beowolf. "Uh...okay then..." She said standing there while watching Greyson doing his fighting stuff with the creature.. Priscilla turned seeing a Beowolf charging at her but it was frozen by Greyson, and then he began to slice the Beowolfs and whatever it was around it, as he killed them. That was so cool too! "Wow! You did very very amazing! Haha I love how you were like. "Nah i got this cutie." Which by the way, thank you for that, it was sweet, heh but anyways! Yeah you just froze it and boom slice and dive! You were awesome!!!" Priscila said jumping up and down with excitement while clapping her hands but then she stopped and saw her knuckles being kissed by Greyson as her face blushed and nodded. "Its uh nice to meet you. My name is Priscilla, partner!!" She told him as her eyes met with his and he was cute too! "Uhhh. Okay where should we go next?"

Priscilla said turning around looking at the area that they were surrounded by. "Should we like keep walking or something?"

Greyson smiled at her and nodded then said "well we need to find the relics so I say we go north where the instructor said we should go. honestly im just glad I have a partner now that's fun." Greyson said smiling as he started to walk northward to find their relics. Greyson was starting to like this girl, she seems exciting and fun just the way Greyson likes it! nobody boring or someone to slow him down since this girl could keep up and it seemed like while their semblance was different it did have a small comparison when thinking about how both Greyson and Pricilla are able to counter their enemies with their semblance although Greyson just paralyzes the creature when it attacks and she can go straight through it both their semblance seemed to be counter attack based so Greyson would need to think about that later when their done with this test "so you have any ideas where the relics or any of the other students are? were supposed to form partnerships that's for sure but if something big comes along I think we need more then just you and me to take it down...

Ineko saw a black blur fly past him and smash into a tree, he looked at the limp creature below the splintered tree and looked at where it came from. He saw Bruce just stepping over a rock, Ineko glanced down and saw that he was holding the last Imanzá.
"It's you again." Bruce plainly said,
"YEAH. IT'S ME, YOU JUST TOOK OUT THE REST OF THE PACK. I COULD HAVE TAKEN THEM MYSELF, BUT VERY CONVENIENT, THANKS." Ineko spoke, relaxing, "DON'T GET BIT BY THOSE JAWS THOUGH." Ineko's drones flew back towards him, hovering near him. "DID YOU SEE ANY CAVE ENTRANCES ON YOUR WAY HERE? I THINK SOME UNDERGROUND CAVERNS WOULD LIKELY HAVE THE OBJECTIVE." The drones threw up a holographic map of the forest and cliffside, indications displaying the locations of large Grimm masses were marked on the map, as well as the last known positions of the other students. Their own location was marked with a large bright arrow.

Emlyn snapped back into reality when he heard Auriel's voice in such close proximity to him. That wasn't right, last he'd checked his partner was a ways away dealing with Itzamna of his own. A troubling thought passed through his mind that he'd been more unaware than he'd thought.

He offered a hasty nod to Auriel as he climbed off of the dead monster and stood up beside his partner. "Right, yeah, distraction - I gotcha," he said.

He took a skip of a step forward as one of the two remaining Itzamna's began their charge, and launched Mirror forward. However much to his chagrin, the chakram sailed past as the beast dipped to the side, and continued his charge while Emlyn was defenseless. He scrambled back and away from Auriel, giving his partner space to work with the remaining Grimm. His own Itzamna came in slashing, fast and deadly, but Emlyn was able to match its speed -if not barely, and sloppily. His eyes caught Mirror as it began its return trip, and in a desperate move he ducked down beneath the clamping jaws of the raptor beast, and then dove forward, rolling beneath its legs and springing up on the other side. He caught Mirror, but was afforded no opportunity to strike, as the Itzamna immediately charged him again. Instead, he turned the weapon to its shield form and took the brunt of the first slash, which, while it sent him onto his back, caused him no real harm. Still, it was not a good place to be, and he realized this quickly as the Grimm continued its assault, slashing against the shield in an attempt to snare the fleshy prey beneath.

No this was certainly not a good place to be. He chanced a brief glance to see how his partner fared, before his attention was forced back to keeping himself alive under the attack of the beast.
