I'd almost be inclined to say that a timeskip is seeming more necessary if the OP's team wasn't one of those that had made negligible progress.

Having a character that doesn't follow the at-least-willing-to-try dynamic would be like trying to make a TTGL character in a Black Butler RP.

Actually, that was YOUR character who ran off. Just because Asura's character was admittedly a scummy pile of slime, doesn't make you faultless. If my co-worker's an asshole and I scream at him and refuse to work on the project we're assigned, I'd still get fired.

Either we do that, or continue to sit in limbo in which teams who have finished are left with nothing to do and teams who haven't are forced to slowly chug through the exam because of a consistent string of drop outs.

Laura was completely willing to work with Trico. Willing to admit she might be wrong, no, but she was more than okay with tolerating Trico's presence enough for them to accomplish their mission. Something Trico refused to do.

Well, Laura is probably going to get crushed by the Giant Boot In The Sky if she tries to Off-screen the Treant, and will inevitably get hurt, because no one comes away from bosses without wounds. So we can dig our fingernails into each other's ouch-pockets and grin.

You can give them victory or let them take what they earn. This test was to see how well the potential hunters could team up and work together. And if they can't... Well, what does that say about them as hunters?

I think the treant fight is basically over before it even begun. Trico never showed up, Laura didn't get a chance to do stuff because I had to poof for a week and the Auriel and that other guy with the E ran off once they got their card. Even if Laura snags a card now and does or does not solo the Treant, it's still not gonna form their team. So I guess I'll wait for a time skip. Or a Tree suggestion.
