When Reia would explain the situation and what they all had came to Dalmasca for, she let out a smile, then chuckled as if finding it very interesting. While it was true that she heard whispers from her counsel about what happened in Archadia and even more whispers about Zodiark’s presence(it wasn’t long ago that the skies of Ivalice went dark). So there wasn’t a single doubt in her mind that she knew that everyone would have to band together in some way.

Though, she had to admit her surprise when Reia stated they wanted to propose a treaty between the Three Great Nations of Ivalice. It was a surprise to her because she remembered it was just recently Archadia invaded Rabanastre, resulting in her husband’s death. If only she had been there, maybe she could have stopped them.

On the mention of how Reia and Jaakuna would respectively serve as the proxy for their own country’s interests, Isabelle found herself losing her smile upon the mention of her daughter, Cassandra. “This all sounds wonderful, Empress Reia, but I’m afraid my daughter might not be able to partake in these talks of a treaty.

And why is that?” Jaakuna asked without cautious care, “I mean no disrespect. You are Wesley’s mother and one hell of a babe, but without Cassandra, we cannot proceed.

Isabelle couldn’t help but giggle and smile rather lovingly at Jaakuna’s continued admiration at her beauty. One might even say she was returning the favor through her somewhat flirtatious glance at him “I’m understand that she is a vital part in these talks going forward, but ever since Wesley was brought back, she hasn’t left his bedside. Even with all of the doctors investigating his condition, she wouldn’t leave the room.” Isabelle informed them. “Her heart is one of the compassionate kind. And that heart is on the verge of breaking due to her love for her brother.

Jaakuna cursed to himself, then he turned to Reia. “Well now what? If we can’t do this with Cassandra, the maybe--

Excuse me, perhaps I can offer up a suggestion.

The floor’s yours.

Isabelle nodded, “seeing as how you’re here on your brother Roman’s interests, perhaps, if the Empress will allow it, I could act in my daughter’s sted.” Isabelle suggested, her eyes on Reia. Out of the three, she was the only one representing her country’s interests.

While the Viera doctor(?) examined WEsley, on her command, Cassandra sat in a chair about ten feet away from Wesley’s bed. The only thing she could do was watch as the viera would do a lot of things that she herself wasn’t sure what they were. She had a high awareness to Mist, like her brother but in a different way. She could see the spiritual strings that were woven of those who could manipulate their mist. She could see what properties they held and what they did. Through this, she saw that the Viera doctor was using a method of deep healing, which was an ancient form of scan that literally scanned the body for ailments that ran deeper than just the typical poison or sap. These were down to the very core of one’s own soul.

She would continue to watch, though she might’ve fallen asleep as she noticed that the Viera had stepped out at some point and she woke up when she heard someone barge in without even so much as a request for permission to do so. Amber eyes fell upon the duo: one was a black-haired man that was quite handsome and the other--the other that Cassandra recognized--was that girl Emiri that Wesley told her about. The one with the weird time powers. The one whom the Archadian Prince loves. Wesley spoke fondly of the two of them, though he never mentioned the young man. The one that, if one could see Cassandra right now, was quite struck by him. Her heart began fluttering and she felt an odd feeling course through her stomach.

Standing up only to greet them, she did so with a pause, hearing the duo exchange words. They specifically would start talking about Wesley. The young man would start by talking about Wesley and what condition he was. Immediately, she would step forward, tapping the male on his shoulder. “Excuse me, who are you and what are you doing here?” Cassandra asked the young male, trying to hold her initial infatuation with this man in check long enough to get a base answer from him.

So that was the case. Reia let a small sigh escape her as she crossed her arms. Not that she blamed the princess at all--far from it. Though admittedly it made her a little jealous. Her own relationship with her siblings needed some work, that was for sure. Still, for the sake of civility, she would have to agree with the terms, if only temporarily. There was no escaping it after all. The Empress nodded, uncrossing her arms as she would give the pair her full attention.

"Desperate times call for desperate measures...although far be it that I would play the villain once more," She conceded. "Very well then, let us proceed."

It seemed Grant had had enough of her moping around. Nadeline wanted nothing more than for the wind to take her far away, though that wouldn't happen. He seemed so disappointed--and rightfully so. How the mighty have fallen. She turned towards him, a more serious look on her face. His distaste in the conversation was written all over his face, though she would compose herself once more. How often did she have to stop and pick up the pieces? It truly did happen too often. At the end of the day, he was right.

Still, it seemed he was not finished. "You keep mentioning Sylvester. I thought Wesley said his brother died years ago," He said, frowning.

"A shade, perhaps, but uncanny in appearance. Whatever the case, the damage is done," She said, shaking her head. "I wonder...he seemed to have disappeared, but there's a part of me that wants to go back to that place...to see if the Brotherhood knows anything."

"On top of everything else, you've lost your mind as well? Honestly, Nadeline, are you going to make me repeat my question?" Grant threw his arms up in exasperation. "The only thing that will accomplish is getting yourself hurt, or worse. I told you before, Savayna and I ran into some of them. And you want to know who was the man behind the man? The snake. If Levi of all people is mingling with them, then they are nothing but bad news. And even if you did find them, then what? You truly believe they would hold an answer? Do you even consider the consequences when those thoughts cross your mind?"

"There's nothing else I can do!" Nadeline retorted, now annoyed. "You can't scorn me for doing nothing and then turn around and tell me that! What am I supposed to do then?"

"I don't have an answer for you. But I'd stop and think before doing anything."

"Oh, I see! So I should seclude myself and just hole everything up until I explode?" She snapped, managing to pinpoint his own fault. "You hide it well, but it's obvious you're upset about whatever it is that happened in Archades. It was quite uncharacteristic of her to act like a weeping damsel, but rather then be out with it you would instead hold everything in. Is that what I'm supposed to do? Just sit quietly and pretend everything is alright when in reality it truly bothers me?"

For the first time in a long time, Grant was stunned to silence. He had opened his mouth to respond, but the words never came. A silence fell between the two, lingering feelings still in the air, though he would simply lean against the balcony. He had nothing more to say. Or rather, he had nothing more to say to her. Now it was Nadeline's turn to be disappointed. She scoffed, turning on her heel and walking out. She walked through the halls of the castle, an inner flame still lingering, though she would find her footsteps ceasing before she realized it. She stood in place, not quite knowing what to do or where to go. No, she knew what she wanted to do. But was it the right choice? She bit her lip, trying to decide.

"Forgive the intrusion, Highness. We had heard about Wesley's condition, and I had hoped that we could have offered some sort of insight," Emiri hastily put together an apology, nudging Keiran--who had been so focused on Wesley he didn't even acknowledge Cassandra's precense. The black haired man blinked in surprise, though he placed a hand on his forehead, shaking his head. "He doesn't look the sort, but he has...studied the Mist quite extensively." More like was born from Mist and the source of all evil, but who needed details?

Keiran frowned at Cassandra, arms crossed as he looked down at her. "Uh...what she said," He replied with a shrug, though he let out a sigh. "I'm Keiran, introducing myself as otherwise would only serve to cause more confusion, I suppose." Emiri gave him an exasperated look, though the return of the viera would spur him to make another assessment. "Your services are no longer needed, I'll take it? I see she has stepped in to confirm my suspicions."

"What? She who?" Emiri asked as the viera would scoff at him, though her question was quickly answered as another viera would arrive. "We meet again, do we?"

"I came for another reason, though I suppose Shion's prediction held true," Aloa replied rather nonchalantly, earning her a scowl from Emiri. "Greetings, Your Highness. I am Aloa of Eryut--though no doubt you're aware of who I am, although not why I am here." Aloa introduced herself to Cassandra politely.

"If you were coming anyway, why not travel with us?" Keiran asked.

"There was another, more pressing concern I needed to see first. Now that the question was answered, I moved on to my next point. And that is here, in the Royal Palace," She stated, lightly tossing her white hair to the side, though she would look at Cassandra once more. "I would see to it that His Highness would waken. In return, I ask to borrow the relic of the heirs of Dalmasca--the Treaty Blade."

"Wait, you know how to cure him?" Emiri asked, incredulous. "What a price to pay! I never knew you to be so cold hearted."

"She needs it for something," Keiran replied in her stead, raising an eyebrow. "Then I can safely assume my hypothesis was correct. Though that good viera magicks is beyond my reach, otherwise I would've done it myself."

Emiri rolled her eyes, although she placed her hands on her hips. Keiran definitely needed to learn the word 'modest', although it seemed Aloa didn't mind it much. "Then...shall I fetch the others? Although it would have to wait until after the treaty signing so we could have Jaakuna as well..."

She heard Grant inform Nadeline that the person in charge of it all and likely responsible for Wesley’s condition(though not directly), was The Snake, Levi. She heard how Nadeline practically accused Grant of keeping something from her and how he always kept whatever was bothering him inside until it blew up in his face. She implied how he was keeping something--something Savayna knew--to himself and it was affecting his outward personality and mannerisms. And above all else, she heard both of them defending their respective points. Only thing was that Savayna didn’t like how either of their points was completely idiotic.

As Savayna would look over towards Grant standing alone on the balcony, she would spot Nadeline walking away. Half of her mind was telling her to go join Grant and comfort him, but after what had transpired earlier in the day, he probably didn't want to see her. So instead, she would follow Nadeline until they were more or less alone. Savayna pulled her aside, stopping the princess in her tracks. “Whatever you’re planning on doing, I want in.” Savayna told Nadeline.

Still, Cassandra ignored Emiri. Even though she apologized for the young man, who would later announce himself as Keiran, she would keep her eyes on him. It was as if Emiri was invisible to her. The only person she wanted to pay attention to and acknowledge was this very handsome, mysterious man in front of her. The name Keiran made every strand of her hair stand up with excitement. Something about the way he spoke, how his tone hinted at something intriguing about him and how he might’ve hinted at something else about him made the queen want to know more about Keiran.

Though, her joy would soon be cut short as she saw a Viera--a different one from before--enter the room. Based on how they greeted her, it was obvious to her that these two knew her. The confirmation of that came when they seemed to lower their guard around her. She stated her name as she requested something odd of Cassandra.

The Sword of Kings?” she repeated what Aloa said, scratching her head. She had to think about it for a brief moment until she remembered that something by that name was in the armory. It had been stored the last time Wesley came back from one of his journeys. “Oh that rusted sword? What do you need it for?” Cassandra asked Aloa.

Before she would get a response though, the annoying brunette would speak without being spoken to again. Scowling lowly, Cassandra kept her calm center by looking at Keiran. “Fine, you go but Keiran stays.” Cassandra ordered Emiri, not smiling one bit at the girl. “Miss Aloa, my guards can escort you to the armory where you’ll find this...Sword of Kings.” She would briefly inform Aloa.

Nadeline had nearly let out a scream, not having noticed Savayna behind her. Though she was surprised that she seemed to know what Nadeline was thinking. She looked at the ground for a moment, unsure. Could she drag Savayna into her own stupidity? Then again, Savayna was a talented swordswoman, stronger than she. If things really did go bad, it would be better to have someone along, wouldn't it? Was this really how she felt? Or was it just her desperation getting the best of her?

I can't just do nothing.

Taking a deep breath, Nadeline looked Savayna straight in the eye. "I can't guarantee that it's sane. Nor if it's the right thing...but..." She found herself hesitating, though she would shake the feelings away. "There was this stronghold...they knew more of Sylvester than anyone else. If I find him again...if I can find him again, I can see if he is the one responsible for Wesley's coma." She said slowly. "I don't even know if it will lead anywhere. It's stupid, but I can't...staying here and doing nothing is driving me insane. I have to do something."

Whatever Emiri did to piss Cassandra off must have been big. The brunette cried internally, though kept it cool on the surface. She always thought Cassandra to be like Wesley--warm and friendly, but right now she was totally getting the complete opposite impression. She looked over at Aloa for help, though the viera would offer her no solace, instead bowing to Cassandra and wordlessly leaving the room. She assumed she would get the sword, then return to help Wesley, which would give her enough time to gather the troops, so to speak.

Still, not one wanting to incur Cassandra's wrath further, she let out a nervous laugh, nodding. "Of course, Your Highness," She said, looking at Keiran. "I suppose once Aloa returns we can start. You don't mind staying here, right?"

Keiran was entirely confused on why he had to stay. "Huh? Why?" He asked, not understanding.

"Keep an eye on Wesley," Emiri could already feel Cassandra's burning glare on her, though she dared not make eye contact, instead hastily giving Keiran an order of her own. He shrugged, but he didn't argue, instead turning his attention back to the prince. Emiri quietly left the room, letting out a small whimper as soon as she was in the hallway. What was that all about?! Wait, no, now wasn't the time for that, anyway. Aloa would be back soon, though she didn't know whether the signing was finished. She would make her way back to the welcoming room, but only Lorenzo remained, dozing off on the couch. He must've been more tired than he let on. She assumed Jaakuna, Reia, and Isabelle were doing the treaty, leaving her to wander about.

After a while, she spotted Grant on the balcony. Smiling mischievously, she would quietly walk up to him. He hadn't noticed her until it was too late, letting out a yell of surprise as she jabbed his sides. He let out a sigh of relief, though it was followed by an annoyed look. She smiled back at him, and he couldn't help but return it.

"You said you'd talk to me, remember?" She would remind him, crossing her arms. "Tell me what's bothering you."

He was quiet at first. But Nadeline's words hung over him, and he ended up conceding. "I'm pretty sure Savayna is still in love with Jaakuna," For some reason, admitting it made it feel worse.

She was surprised. "Why do you think that?"

"Deep down, there was always this part of me that thought that. 'She's loves him more than she loves you', I thought. But it's not just a thought anymore, it's reality. She proved it in Archades...she even fought Shion over it, unlocked Mateus' power because of the love she has for Jaakuna," He spoke softly. "I was so stupid to think otherwise."

"That can't be true," Emiri immediately rebutted his words.

"It's true. Nadeline and Lorenzo saw it as well..." He said, placing his elbows on the balcony, his hands together. "Zodiark was right. I've lost her to Jaakuna."

"You can't listen to what he says!" Emiri grabbed Grant by the shoulders, turning him to face her. "He lives only to cause misery to others, he revels in causing others pain!"

"But it wasn't a lie, was it?" He asked, gently taking her hands off him. "It was cruel...but it was the truth. She hasn't tried to deny it. We haven't even spoken since then."

"There's a lot going on right now, I'm sure if you ask her now she'll tell you otherwise," She stood firm.

"I can't do that."

"Why? All you're doing is stewing in negativity!"

"And what if she proves Zodiark right? Then what?" He asked her. "Emiri, I don't think I can handle that. I can't...and I don't know what I'll do if I'm right." She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Why? Why did he have to think like that? And yet, as she looked at him, she could tell it was deeply troubling him. Emiri shook her head, trying to think of what she could say. "There's nothing more to say." He stated, as if reading her thoughts. He turned back towards the balcony, staring out at the city before them.

It did seem that Nadeline was worried about whatever she was planning to do. Understandable. This plan wasn’t necessarily the smartest of plans and the two of them would most likely end up maimed--or worse. Though, Savayna would simply wave away her worry with what could be described as a dismissing scoff, followed by an assuring smile. This was obviously the smile Savayna gave when she always threw caution to the wind and anyone who was on the receiving end, should they know her well, of course, would probably say bad things were coming when she smiled like that.

Once Nadeline would reveal her half-hearted plan, she [Savayna] made sure to take in each word carefully so she could devise what should be the next appropriate step to take. Admittedly, Savayna felt it was an insane plan. The Brotherhood was large. Rabanastre was large. Sure they could use contacts through The Hunter’s Guild here in the royal city, but it didn’t help them that much. They still would need to find this stronghold. According to what Nadeline had said before, she was captured and brought to this stronghold, so she doesn’t really know the exact location of it.

As Savayna was about to say something about how retarded this plan was and how unlikely it was to succeed, the blonde Rozarrian would state she needed to do something. Anything. It was in that moment Savayna realized the severity of the situation for her future niece. This wasn’t a matter of what she should do. To her, it wasn’t even a question. To her, she had to do this. This prompted Savayna to sigh and smile once more, walking past Nadeline. When she was about five paces away, she looked back. “You coming or what?

Cassandra couldn’t be happier when Emiri finally left. She was even more thrilled when Aloa left with two of the four Dalmascan guards that were in the room. Though she would ignore them, the queen would automatically focus her amber eyes upon the slightly-tanned face of Keiran. She was a girl with a crush, but this girl was the queen and she knew exactly what she wanted. Bearing that in mind, she moved closer to the mysterious young man, bringing her hand into contact with his. In that touch alone, she sensed the very strange, ambiguous Mist that coursed through his body.

Looking deep into his eyes, Cassandra’s own would flicker with a gold light and she would gradually bring her body close to his. “Your mist is rather peculiar. It’s ancient, like that of the Espers. Like Hashmal’s. But, at the same time, I can’t help but feel drawn to it.” Cassandra noted, finding herself so close to Keiran’s body she could smell the freshness of his breath. “Keiran, do you know what I’m thinking right now?

If Savayna thought it was a good idea, that usually meant it was a bad idea.

Still, Nadeline found herself following suit. Her heart beat fiercely against her chest, a foreign nervousness captivating her bones. She let out a breath in an attempt to calm herself, but together the pair would take their leave of the castle. She felt like she was retracing her steps as she wanted to Savayna once more to the Muthru Bazaar, though she paused as she would look around. She distinctly recalled the thugs that had kidnapped her, but their faces weren't in the crowd. Was this the best approach? A finger to her chin, she looked around, trying to remember.

Truly, your search for Death will leave you fruitless.

Ah, Ultima had finally graced her with words. Nadeline couldn't help but roll her eyes, her hands on her hips. I'll have none of that. If you would not help, then remain silent. I haven't the patience to deal with you right now.

So be it. If you wish to find your way, look backwards, not forward. Repetition will lead you to a similar situation. Instead, search for traces of her magicks.

Her? That's right, Aloa had somehow teleported them. Then all she needed to do was find that trace of magick. That was about as simple as finding a stray thread--Aloa's magicks were much stronger than most, and to say it was easy to find the trace was an understatement. Nadeline squinted at something, though she would beckon to Savayna to follow as she would place herself exactly where Aloa had teleported them to. Taking in a deep breath, she turned to Savayna, who was no doubt wondering what it was she was up to.

"If I follow Aloa's magicks backwards, we can go straight to the place where we encountered...you-know-how." She explained, crossing her arms. She dared not speak his name, lest the wrong person overhears. "I'm not entirely sure it'll work, but in theory it should. This'll be your last chance to back out, I suppose."

Placing her hands on the balcony, Emiri would mimick Grant, staring over the city. It was rather quiet, considering Rabanastre was usually more active at this time, although she knew that Zodiark's ever suffering Mist had probably affected most of the people. She could even see Nadeline and Savayna below them, talking about something. She looked at Grant, noticing that they had been looking at the same thing, or rather, he was looking down at Savayna. Letting out a huff, Emiri would take a step back, hands on her hips once more, staring him down.

"Here's an idea: be honest," She would continue, though she held out a hand to stop his words. "I'm serious! You know...a lot of the things I've gone through could have probably been avoided if I had just been upfront about everything. If I had mentioned how my powers were affecting me, maybe Chaos wouldn't have taken my memories away. If I had told Jaakuna that I didn't want him to leave me behind, I never would have accepted Keiran into my heart and let him manipulate me. I mean it, a lot of heartbreak could have been avoided. Grant, don't be me. Don't be an idiot who keeps secrets."

Grant actually let out a small laugh. "You do love your share of them."

"I do. I did. But from now on, I'm going to be more upfront about everything. Because I don't want any of that to happen ever again, not if I can help it anyway. I mean look at it! Everything is a mess now!" Emiri waved her arms around. "And I have to clean it all up. Jaakuna can claim his part, but it's just as much my own fault as it is his. And I'm dragging everyone along with me to help. See what I mean?"

"You shouldn't be so hard on yourself."

"I'm not. I'm owning up to it. And you should probably have a taste of your own medicine if that is to be your response," She smiled once more.

It wasn't too surprising to be compared to as Esper--what did surprise him, however, was how close she was. Very close. Too close. Keiran frowned at her, wondering what exactly her intention was. Didn't her mother teach her to avoid people like him? Albeit, not that she would probably know any better--young female Humes had a tendency to become mighty reckless and emotional, their judgment often clouded by their rather immature line of thinking. Still, Cassandra's closeness was...uncomfortable. Was this normal? He wasn't entirely sure, but a young lady--an acting Queen, no less--should probably not be acting in such a manner. Probably.

Letting out a cough, Keiran took half a pace away from the girl, eyeing her wearily. She was perceptive, this much was true. He wasn't aware that Humes would be able to discern him, though there was something about the glint in her eye that was...unnatural. "Seeing as how reading minds isn't an ability of mine--I can't say that I know," He admitted, though he dared not mention how he knew Emiri's own thoughts. But that was another situation entirely, and this one required more of his attention. "I assume it's having to do with your insistence on keeping contact with me."

So they had to retrace Aloa’s steps huh? That seemed easy enough. With both of their enhanced magicks, there should be something that the two blondes would be able to do. They might actually prove the blonde stereotype wrong and surprise a lot of people. Granted, if people actually knew about this, they would probably try to stop the dumb blondes. Truly, the plan was insane, but Savayna was not about to turn her back ont his now. First off, she needed to get away from everyone jsut so that she could breathe. But above that, she wanted to find out more about The Brotherhood. And going with Nadeline was the perfect way to kill two birds with one stone.

Let’s get going already.” Savayna said, cutting Nadeline off mid-sentence. She looked to the blonde princess for a general direction they had to go. She didn’t need specifics, but left or right wouldn’t be a bad start.

Cute and a smartass, huh?

Briefly, she dismissed the remaining two guards. Without fighting her on it, they did as she commanded. Meanwhile, she looked at Keiran. Cassandra had always kept her mind on something once it was decided. In a lot of ways, she was like WEsley. He had committed to going out and trying to save Ivalice. Though that left her alone, she understood that. And much like Wesley, it was hard to say no to her, though this one was certainly making it hard for her. Ah well. Cassandra never liked an easy challenge. She liked it to be difficult so, when she would finally claim her prize, it would actually feel rewarding and not like some cheap thrill.

No, that’s not quite what I’m thinking, handsome.

Much to Keiran’s discomfort, she asserted herself closer to his form, slowly stroking his hands. Just at the moment he had lowered his guard, she would bring her lips to his ear and whisper something into it. At that same moment, before he would even realize it, Keiran would find himself unable to move. He would find himself frozen - well, paralyzed was the more accurate way to describe what happened to him.

I’m thinking how disgraceful it was for the Time Scion to bring a spawn of the dark one into our home. And what’s even worse, no one seemed to be bothered by it. But please, do not fret. I promise you that your death will be swift. As Queen of the Dalmascan Kingdom, I will make sure you feel no pain. Though it’s more than you deserve, I will not allow you to hurt anymore of the ones I love.

Cassandra’s hand suddenly became engulfed in a bright orange and deep sienna aura of Mist. Sharpening it finely, her mist flowed out like vines, wrapping around Keiran’s body. Though gently at first, they would eventually tighten to the point where, upon the moment they started binding him, they would burn his flesh. Though, that’s not exactly where they would stop.

I wonder how soon it is until they come? One minute? Maybe two?” Cassandra spoke, as if genuinely curious. “Oh well, not like it matters. You’ll be dead and away from this world before they burst through that door.

And so, as she kept it up, Cassandra had every intention of making sure Keiran would be slain by her hands.

"Right...here goes nothing," Nadeline muttered, extending her hands out in front of her.

The Mist seemed to swirl around them as Nadeline would cast her spell. She could see Aloa's glyph underneath her, though she was surprised at how simple it was to replicate Aloa's spell. If she was told this some time ago, she wouldn't have believed it. She had to give credit to Ultima, but for now, she would concentrate. She closed her eyes as a bright flash enveloped them, openeing them to see the familiar, despair-bringing surroundings that were the tunnels where Aloa had come to whisk them away.

Nadeline wobbled for a moment, though she remained steady--it was too soon to put her at Aloa's level. Nadeline turned towards the direction she knew would lead to the men, pointing. "This way, then." She stated, beginning to walk.

Cute? Him? What exactly was she getting at? He inched away, and still she insisted on closing the gap between the two. It wasn't until it was too late that he realized like brother like sister. There was a story, once, about the Dynast-King's lineage. His descendants were certainly talented, their abilities often manifesting as one thing or another. Keiran was fascinated by the vines, though that quickly changed as that all-too-familiar burning sensation returned. He truly was a glutton for punishment, wasn't he? He let out a breath, though inhaled sharply. Wow, that actually burned. Admittedly, it had more of an affect on a dark being, but he couldn't quite hide his discomfort.

"In her defense, it was a pretty complicated situation," Keiran defended Emiri. "There was little input from her in the matter, although..." He winced slightly, an exasperated look on his face. "About the whole 'no pain' thing, I'd rather that come sooner than later.

Emiri scratched her arms. The sun was much too hot, she felt like she was starting to burn. Grant looked at her, noticing the scratching, though he seemed amused. "The sun is strong here. Perhaps we should move inside," He told her, frowning.

"I've been here plenty of times, believe me," She stated, shaking her head. "I can't imagine the sun suddenly being too much."

"Your body tells a different story," He motioned towards her arms.

Parts of her skin looked darker, almost as if they were burning. It actually hurt, now that she was looking at them, though her eyes widened. No, this wasn't sunburn, her entirely exposed body should feel it, but it was just parts of her burning. What the hell was this?! She moved into the shade, but could still feel it. She let out a small cry as she could feel the burn intensify, though as she looked at Grant, she realized the pain felt familiar. It was like when Wesley had struck Keiran, and she had felt the after effectsof it.

Letting out a gasp, she ran back into the castle. She could hear Grant following her, but she didn't have time to explain. Rather, she didn't get the chance, falling to her knees outside of Wesley's door. "Emiri! What's wrong? What is it?!"

She reached for the door. "Keiran...it's Cassandra...I think she's doing something to him...!" She tried to tell him.

"Well, the Queen certainly has some peculiar taste, doesn't she? Wasn't aware pain was her thing." Grant murmured as he stood. He did wonder why Keiran was still around, but it seemed that he and Emiri were still connected for the time being.

"Grant!"

"Right, then," He ignored her, opening the door and revealing a bound Keiran, a determined Cassandra by him. "That explains that. Majesty, if I could request you halt your excise of him, apparently they are still connected." He said, motioning towards Emiri.

"No need for dramatics, it's not that painful," Keiran couldn't help but quip at Emiri, earning him a glare.

It was quite the amazing sight to see, indeed. If anyone had told Savayna that the useless girl with the big brain and large tome would've been capable of replicating an advanced spell of one of the most talented Mist-users in all of Ivalice, then she might've suggested they were on some type of drugs. It was truly amazing to see how far this one has come. It was even more so when Savayna realized that they both had this tendency to do idiotic shit for the right reasons. Of all the time that they had argued, perhaps this was because they were a lot more alike than either of them liked to admit.

As Nadeline had finished the spell and seemed to know where they had to go, she would point in a direction finally, which resulted in a vocal approvement from Savayna. "About damn time," she stated, relieved. She followed Nadeline's lead as the two would begin their somewhat interesting adventure to get to the bottom of The Brotherhood's presence in Dalmasca.

That wasn't the reaction that she was hoping for.

As Cassandra had made it clear to Keiran that she had every intention of ending his life here and now, he didn't seem to be fazed by it at all. To her, it seemed like he didn't at all believe her. Maybe it was that he didn't take her seriously. Maybe it was how she was a teenaged girl and she couldn't possibly have the strength and power to do what her mouth implied she would do. Or maybe, he simply was afraid to believe that she was halting his death just to see him squirm. Whichever it was, Cassandra didn't take too kindly to him mocking her.

Right as increased the pressure of her Mist Vines around Keiran's body, in came some unwelcomed guests: Rozarrian Prince GRant and The Time Scion. At first, neither of them seemed to mind the position that Keiran was in, which brought a welcomed smirk to Cassandra's face. When Grant politely requested that she release Keiran from her hold, she looked at him with a confused look. It was then that he informed her that Keiran and The Time Scion were connected. Based on the burn marks that the queen saw on her arms and where the vines were placed on Keiran's own, Cassandra saw that whatever pain was inflicted on him was dealt back to her.

"I see. So it's true after all. These ancient beings can share pain with whatever host they've bonded with," Cassandra muttered to herself, remembering a scripture she once was read to by her brother.

Just as she was going to release him, Keiran made a note of how it wasn't all that painful. To prove him wrong, Cassandra tightened the hold even more as the Mist Vines dug deeper into his body and burning the flesh even more. As she did that, she caught the sight of the Time Scion, who happened to react to it accordingly.

Their footsteps were the loudest sounds accompanying them. The occasional sound of metal against metal signaled Savayna's armor, but otherwise, the pair was silent. Nadeline wasn't really in the mood to talk, her hand nervously gripping her rapier. She wasn't going to get caught off guard this time. This time, she was going to get the answers she wanted. She inhaled sharply, unknowingly picking up the pace as she walked. But something felt strange. She had expected to meet a group of armed men at the ready, yet no one came. They weren't exactly silent either--lord knows her heels often give her position away.

Nadeline came to a halt. "I wonder if they've abandoned this place."

"Maybe that stung a bit," Keiran conceded in response to Cassandra's furthering of her magicks.

"I don't care if it doesn't hurt you, it's hurting me!" Emiri snapped at Keiran, rubbing her arms vigorously in vain. "Cassandra, I understand this isn't ideal, but we're making the best of a very reluctant partnership at the moment, and unfortunately for some reason I can't quite get rid of him yet. I would gladly appreciate it if you could dismiss your magicks--though if you feel he is out of line do feel free to punish him for it."

Grant shook his head at the scene, entertained. But at the same time, he thought it odd--back in Archades, Keiran was slammed into the wall, and Emiri hadn't so much as batted an eye in response. Why was this case different? Why was Emiri feeling this pain here and not before? Grant couldn't help but eye the vines. They reminded him of Wesley's magicks, but they had something different. Probably an added purifying effect, but even those should be more effective on Keiran then they were on Emiri. He narrowed his eyes, though he took a step back, looking directly at Cassandra. What was she up to?

"If you would be so kind to stop now, Majesty," Grant asked.

Savayna didn’t like this. It was way too quiet. There wasn’t even so much as a single guard; not even a grunt guarding the entrance. To say the least, she found it odd. A group like The Brotherhood was among the most secretive ones in all of Ivalice. They prided themselves in keeping to the shadows. Only was when they needed to act did they come out of hiding and do what must be done. So, to Savayna, it weirded her out when one of their strongholds was practically a ghost town.

How long ago did you say it was they brought you here? I only ask because I know the Brotherhood. They don’t leave their strongholds unmanned. I fI had to wager, I would say they are expecting us and have laid out traps. Either that or they’re gone from Rabanastre. Though, the latter is highly unlikely.

You both have a lot of nerve. I allow you into my city. I allow you to take sanctuary in my castle. I even have allowed that Rozarrian--my future sister by marriage--to go wherever she pleased. But, you continue to try my patience. Bringing this…abomination into my home and allow him to breathe the same air that my brother does as he’s trying to fight for his life is unforgivable.” Cassandra stated angrily, gripping her right fist into a ball, which caused the vines to glow brightly as the grip would intensify twice what it was before.

She turned her vengeful eyes onto Emiri. “I will not stand for this! My country will not suffer the same fate that my father did at the hand of your beloved’s cousin. Until he is brought in to pay for his crimes, that treaty that is happening right now will not happen. I will not align myself with any Rozarrians nor Archadians. If this means war, then so be it.

And that was that. Cassandra’s word was final. They would come around to her way of thinking, lest Prince Grant want to see the Time Scion suffer a painful end.

Jaakuna loved his brother, but he could never understood how Roman could actually find joy in partaking in these political squabbles. He’s only been at this for an hour and already Jaakuna was ready to take his fifth break. Much to the annoyance of both Isabelle and Reia, however, he knew that wouldn’t be wise. This process was taking long enough as is, he didn’t need to add yet another five-minute break to it. Though, Jaakuna was definitely regretting actually doing this. Not for the end result, but all of the work and how much time has been wasted because of this darn treaty.

The three sat in a proper room at a circular table with four chair sitting around it. Jaakuna sat next to Reia who sat next to Isabelle. Next to Isabelle was the Grand Maester, who had was drafting all of the conditions of the treaty. Though, as he looked at them, he let out a rather noticeable sigh. “I do apologize, Empress, Emperor Proxy, and Queen Mother, the treaty is a lot more complicated than I had originally anticipated. All of these conditions are very...strange. I’m not sure I even understand it.”

What is there to not understand?” Isabelle inquired.

“Well, firstly, you want there to be a ceasefire between all three nations.” Maester Nicholas stated, “secondly--and if I’m reading this correctly--you also want to apply that to any further expansion into each respective nations’ territory.” Nicholas seemed to be bothered by this. As a Dalmascan, he was stern in his beliefs. Though, as a maester, he had no choice but to comply with his majesty’s requests. “Though, this last one seems to be the most absurd thing I’ve heard in my years in service of the Alexander family.” Nicholas looked over the conditions on one sheet of parchment and read it carefully. “You want all three armies to put together a joint task force with...Lorenzo leading them? Tell me this isn’t right?” Nicholas couldn’t help but look at Lorenzo over to the side as he seemed to be pouting at how long this process was taking. “That’s hardly leadership material.” He commented to the three.

Watch how you talk about my new best friend.” Jaakuna suddenly snapped at the maester, threatening him to mind his tongue about Lorenzo.

“My apologies, Emperor Proxy,” Nicholas apologized to Jaakuna. He would then go back to the topic at hand. “Your Grace, surely this isn’t what you are intending for the treaty? None of our noble houses--especially the ones who are loyal to your late husband’s house--will let this slide. Despite what strides you made in securing relationships with Rozarria and Archadia, there’s a lot of people who still seek justice for Jonathan’s murder.”

I understand, but please try to understand that this is for the greater good. Zodiark pushes further and it won’t be long until he comes for all of us.” Isabelle told the maester, urging him to see to their way of thinking.

“With respect, your majesty, but I can’t in good conscious draft this treaty. In fact, not only won’t I draft it, but I will not allow this to stand!” Nicholas stood firm in his beliefs, even if it meant disobeying Isabelle.

And just as the latter was going to say something, Jaakuna beat her to the punch. Literally. His fist went flying and sent the maester flying to the wall, knocking him out. Isabelle yelped lightly.

Jaakuna looked around at their faces. It was a mix of subtle gratitude and complete shock and awe. “Was that really necessary?

In times of our impending doom, drastic measures are required.” Jaakuna stated, justifying his actions.

Reia let out a low groan, her head in her arms. She had figured it would come to this--Jaakuna belting out a punch to someone. Anyone. She actually thought he would somehow end up punching Grant or Lorenzo, but nope, it had to have been the Maester. As she lifted her head, her fingers interlaced with one another. Desperate times called for desperate measures, sure, but right now the last thing they needed was a panic. She closed her eyes, trying to think. The Maester's opinion was usually shared with the rest of the clergy, which could only mean bad news.

Lorenzo stirred, sitting up. "Don't tell Nadeline we're moving in! Huh...?" He had dozed off, to the surprise of...no one. He looked at the fallen man, letting out a low whistle. "So I take it negotiations aren't going well?"

"The fall of His Grace had an impact on the people greater than anticipated. They cannot see the big picture--and it doesn't help that a certain blonde has the temper of a Bagoly," Reia stated, shaking her head at Jaakuna. "I had feared this would happen, moreso after His Highness Wesley's current condition."

"You better not be saying we should give up," Lorenzo crossed his arms.

Reia ignored him, though she looked straight at Jaakuna, a much more serious look on her face. "The time has come for 'Jaakuna' to have a seat while 'Prince Jackson' takes a stand. There is one solution to this issue, and you know it as well as I. This is not a problem that can be solved with fists, no matter your urge to have it so. Hamut made it clear that when the time was right, you would rule Archadia, and your country calls to you now," She stated rather cooly. "If you want this plan of yours to work--if you want this unification to work, that requires equivalent exchange. To gain the trust of the Dalmascans, you would have to give something in return, to give them the head of the person that they want the most."

"You can't ask the kid to give up his own family!" Lorenzo couldn't help but argue back.

"People have done worse. People have done more. Nothing in this life is free--even the futile attempts to keep a crown," She stated solemnly, clearly regretful of her own actions. "But that is the truth before us. Dalmasca demands the life of Judge Isaiah Darcone. What will you do?"

"Couldn't have been more than a day or two? Maybe three? Honestly, I am not entirely sure," She admitted wearily, letting out a sigh. No, this was a sign. "Perhaps this is the gods telling us that we should take our luck and return. Who am I kidding, this entire situation is...foolish." What was it that Nadeline had hoped to accomplish? Why was she letting her emotions get the better of her? A poor princess she made, throwing all caution to the wind and simply parading about without thinking of the consequences. She shook her head, as if a veil had been lifted from her eyes. "There's nothing for us here. I'm sure I can retrace Aloa's magicks back to Rabanatre."

"This is uncomfortable," Keiran grunted, visibly wincing. "You're quite talented. Truly, I shouldn't have left my guard down."

Well, wasn't that the understatement of the century! Emiri let out a whimper, causing Grant to widen his eyes. The way Keiran was acting, it was as if he was willingly dragging Emiri into this--no, wait, Jaakuna had said Keiran was under her beck and call. Were Cassandra's magicks running so deep that it was affecting the host as well? Now what? Should he draw his weapon? And bring the entirety of the Dalmascan guard on his head? No, he couldn't disrespect Wesley nor risk Nadeline's reputation. He was between a rock and a hard place. He could try his own deal of magicks, though he was severely lacking in light magicks, considering his of the arcane were in the complete opposite direction. That, and it could potentially strengthen Cassandra's bindings--or he could get Keiran hurt. No, he had to try to reason with her, she was clearly over emotional over her brother's state of being.

"Please, don't," Emiri would beat him to the punch as she tried to plead with Cassandra, shaking her head. "I swear, it wasn't my intention to offend you! I'll gladly take my leave if that's what you want! But war...that can't happen right now, none of our countries can handle it...we'd all fall to Zodiark if that was the case."

Grant inhaled slowly, exhaling as he would try to collect his thoughts. "My lady, surely we can discuss this more peacefully?" He tried to negotiate Emiri's survival, at least. "Your concerns do not fall on deaf ears. You have every right to be angry. But killing Keiran will get you nowhere." Where the hell was Nadeline?! She was much better at negotiating--if a bit more on the cunning side.

So this what it came to? Because of his temper, Jaakuna has put them all in a difficult situation. The Maester who was practically as high up in the Dalmascan ladder as Isabelle was had been struck by a foreign power, by the Emperor Proxy, no less. It didn’t help that the opinions he shared were, at the very least, something that a lot of other Dalmacans probably shared. If not, then those who made most of the decisions in the Queen’s sted. Those thoughts were obviously connected to how Isaiah hadn’t been brought in for the murder of King Jonathan. Despite Wesley clearing him of all charges, there was still an air around Dalmasca that demanded justice for their late king.

As he leaned back into his chair, Jaakuna stayed relatively--and uncharacteristically--silent throughout the entire time both she and Lorenzo were talking. The latter was stating that Jaakuna couldn’t possibly turn in his own family. While there was some truth to that, Isaiah wasn’t his family, not really. They hardly knew each other. He was his cousin, but nothing more than blood connecting him. So it’s not like Jaakuna would feel any regret turning in his own cousin. That wasn’t bothering him. It was what Reia said after that.

The time has come for Jaakuna to take a seat and for Jackson to take a stand.

As if taking a cue from her words, Jaakuna stood up, taking in a deep breath. He scanned the room just to take in the sights of their faces. It appeared that he had their attention. For better or worse, it was his turn to speak, but what should he say? No, he knew what must be done. But he really hated it. Gods, why couldn’t he have been born into a noble family instead of the Royal Family of Archadia? Of course, he knew what he had to do. Again, turning in Isaiah, while unfortunate, wasn’t the bit would be regretful, it was the other part that Reia said. For everything to be forgiven and for there to be some kind of mending of fences, he would have to take the reigns of Archadia.

Letting out a sigh once more, Jaakuna, instead of responding to what they had said, went towards the door.

Where are you going?” Isabelle asked.

He stopped, looking back at her. “I need to speak with someone before I do anything. If Nicholas wakes up, tell him I am sorry for striking him.

That was all he would say. Jaakuna went through the door and closed it behind him.

Do either of you know what just happened?” Isabelle asked the Rozarrians. She was speechless.

It was disappointing, to say the least. Savayna wanted a reason to actually get away from everything, but from how things appeared, they most likely have to head back. A shame, too. Savayna thought she might get more information on The Brotherhood. Though, at the very least, she might be able to rest.

Then let’s get going. I’m sure everyone is worried about--

Just as Savayna had turned around, she felt the slight shift of the mist in the freeze for a brief moment, then, like a hurricane, the breeze increased to speeds that it naturally wouldn’t. Before her or Nadeline knew what hit them, a wave of magick hit them so hard that it knocked the both of them against the wall. Though, due to Savayna’s quick thinking, a protectga and shellga were cast on a whim and it cushioned the impact with the stone wall. That didn’t mean it cushioned all of the impact. Savayna felt some of it, though that was mostly because of Nadeline’s mass.

Seriously, Nadeline, you need to go on a fucking diet. You weigh more than a cow!” Savayna cried, shoving the ‘cow’ off of her, which allowed her to finally stand.

Savyana saw a blur of red and blue mist, though once her eyes seemed to focus more, she saw the blur no longer appearing as such. Instead, she saw two men who looked identical to each other. The only difference was the color of their hair and their attire. One had wavy, shoulder-length blue hair and brandished a topless approach and wore some kind of leather pants. Meanwhile, the other had a mullet-inspired hairstyle, but it was red like blood. He too chose to go topless, but unlike his twin brother, his choice of bottoms was less tight like leather and seemed to be more loose-fitting. However, the two of them had wings and horns and strange markings on their bodies that almost resembled the Glyph of Zodiark.
Oh princess, how wonderful to see you again. I thought you didn’t like us after what happened the last time we saw each other.” The blue-haired twin said, smiling warmly at Nadeline.

Friends of yours?

If anything, these two were consistent in their efforts to get Cassandra to see to their reason, but what instead of trying to get her to see how they saw the world’s events, they should focus more on not trying her patience. Or did they forget that Cassandra held Emiri’s life in the balance? Truly, for rumored geniuses in their own right, they sure seemed to miss the bigger picture. It mattered not; for Cassandra was about to halt any and all discussions on the matter.

I appreciate one of you trying to keep their tact, but it’s falling on deaf ears.” Cassandra informed them. Though she had made her mind up even before the two of them barged into her brother’s room, she did appreciate their candor. It was a refreshing trait to have. She didn’t think people--especially Rozarrians--still held value in not beating around the bush. “Now, if you have any last words to plead your case, I believe we are done--”

“Many apologies, your majesty.” One of Cassandra’s Queenguard came in dressed in Dalmascan Steel. He approached her and bowed on one knee. “A blonde man is outside, waiting for you. He says it’s important he sees you,” he would look to the other three, “and only you.”

Can’t you see I’m busy?” Cassandra stated, clearly displeased.

“He urges haste, your majesty.”

Cassandra let out a sigh and would release the Spawn of Zodiark from her grasp. “Watch them. Make sure they don’t go anywhere.” Cassandra ordered her guard.

“As you wish.”

Though she proceeded to walk towards the door, she stopped by Emiri and Grant. “Consider my earlier statement carefully, Rozarrians.” She would leave them with those last words.

Exiting her brother’s room, Cassandra looked around and saw a blonde man waiting next to the room as he leaned against the wall with his arms folded across his chest, one leg up against the wall and humming some odd tune. “Jaakuna Darcone, what’s the meaning of this?” She flat out demanded he answer rather than asking politely.

It’s Jackson, actually. And I overheard what you were doing in there.

You were spying on me?

Not exactly. My Esper gave me temporary control over his senses and I was able to hear what you said about--well everything. I know you don’t like the idea of the treaty. I know you hold my country responsible for your father’s death. You might even hold Rozarria responsible for Wesley’s condition. You hate Nadeline for leaving your brother.” Jackson listed off all of the things that she had said to GRant and Emiri. “Am I getting warm?

Color Cassandra impressed. Underneath all of that hot air was actually a man that knew how to keep a cool head. She knew about the infamous Ifrit of the Skies. She heard tales of his crass and impulsive nature. Had this been one of the days where that man was present, she most likely would’ve heard a different speech from him. “Very warm,” Cassandra simply stated, smiling at Jackson.

He got off from the wall and approached Cassandra. “If it would please her majesty, may I propose a middle ground? We know you don’t want to go to war and with Zodiark afoot, nobody can afford to get distracted.

Not saying anything, Cassandra simply tipped her head, giving him permission to speak freely.

I am willing to give you exactly what you want. For the promise that you will not threaten war, I will give you--as well as the Dalmacan people--Judge Ixion. And if it will ease your heart, I shall also take reigns as Emperor of Archadia.

That was...not what she expected. Consider her speechless. Cassandra didn’t know what to say. She honestly didn’t. Where was this fiery man that Wesley often spoke highly of? Where was this crude, obscene man that often showed his pirate tongue to those who angered him? Where was Jaakuna Hinoko, lover of gil and hater of all things authority? This wasn’t the man she was speaking to. This was Jackson Darcone, duteous son of Simon Darcone, and rightful heir to the Archadian ruling seat. This was a man who spoke with dignity and was a man of his word. This was not who she was expecting.

Very well. I accept these terms with one of my own.” She said, smiling at Jackson. “We will seal this deal with an official bonding of our empires.

What do you mean?” Jackson asked, barely able to comprehend what she just said.

If you want peace, I want your hand in marriage. I want for Archadia and Dalmasca to unite together.” Cassandra took Jackson’s hand, “I want you to be my king, Jackson Darcone.

"I really hate this crap," Lorenzo stated as he threw himself back into his seat, staring at the ceiling. "I really hate that he listened to you, too."

Reia huffed at him. "Says the man who used his wife specifically to get out of these types of situations. Clearly, Lorenzo, you have no shame, do you?" She couldn't help but snap back at him. "The only reason you're upset is because I'm right."

"I didn't say that. You're a hundred percent right. So right. All right. So fucking right it drives me crazy!" Lorenzo replied. "But this world of politics and shit eats a person up, it makes them forget about what's important. You gotta think of the whole fucking country, and for what? So they can turn into unappreciative bastards when you do one thing they don't like? It sucks. And now imagine all that in a twenty-something year old that's just barely starting to live life. There's a reason our councils and senates love younger rulers--they know precisely that they can't handle the pressure, pulling their strings so they can do what they want without giving a shit about what they're doing to their puppet!"

He let out a yell of frustration, though he sat up properly, hands on his knees. Reia scoffed, though she understood his frustration. "We don't get that luxury of choice. He wanted the treaty, so he needs to grow up and realize the ramifications of what it is that means. And if that means having to give up something...then that's just the reality of the situation."

"Friends, indeed. That is, they should think of themselves as much should they want to keep their pointless lives."

The threat was uncharacteristic, but something had clicked in her mind. There they were, right in front of her, fresh for the picking. Ultima's small crown had already formed on her head, her grip on her rapier steadier than before. She took note of their appearances, how they had changed, but the bad news for them was that she was not the same person she was before, either. She raised her rapier, one hand on her waist as she looked at them curiously. "Oh, I have to thank you for that departing gift. Unfortunately, it left me wanting for more. So this is how it'll happen--either tell me where Sylvester is, or I'll beat it out of you. I haven't gotten the patience for our usual chats, so do make your choice quickly. Of course, if that chat results in Sylvester's location, then by all means, do tell." Her voice was loud, though it was obvious she was completely serious.

Arrogant, stuck up, narcissistic, damn bitch!

Emiri let out a very long, slow breath, crossing her arms tightly. She should've just grabbed that smug woman by those tassles she called hair and forced her to call off the attack. But she couldn't bear to ruin Jaakuna's plan. The marks had all but vanished on her, though she still felt some soreness. Keiran, on the other hand, looked completely branded, though he didn't seem to mind. Letting out a frustrated grunt, Emiri eyed the guard, narrowing her eyes. Grant gave her a look, but she ignored him. She didn't do well being locked up, and she had it with people thinking they had authority over her. She let out a sigh, though in the silence the two noticed they could hear talking.

Pressing themselves against the wall rather comically, they tried to stay quiet to hear what was happening. It was muffled, but it was clear it was Cassandra and Jaakuna speaking. Emiri clucked her tongue in disappointment, straining to listen. Jaakuna was talking a lot, a more serious tone. She needed to concentrate, she had to hear what they were saying. Grant seemed to have better luck, though he wasn't going to relay until he had heard the entire conversation. But it was then that he listened to Cassandra's counter proposal. He took a step back in shock, and Emiri gave him a curious look.

"What is it? Are we in trouble?" She asked him, not liking the look on his face.

Well, trouble wasn't exactly the right word. "If I heard correctly, Cassandra may or may not have just...proposed marriage to Jaakuna. To...unite Dalmasca and Archadia. Hm. That can't be right."

"Are you sure?" Her voice squeaked unintentionally, though she had reason for it. "Of all the things she could ask, why that?!"

Grant shook his head, instead choosing to focus on Wesley. He had handled that poorly--Wesley and Nadeline were the ones with more tact, he probably shouldn't have said anything. He watched Wesley's chest rise, feeling Emiri's hand on him, though to his horror, Wesley's breathing stopped. His eyes widened, and he made to back away, but Emiri kept her grip firm on him. Wait, the guard was frozen, too. Keiran chuckled, motioning towards Emiri.

"What are you doing? Do you want to anger Cassandra further?!" He couldn't help but exclaim, making to take her hand off him.

"Don't, you'll get frozen like everything else," She warned him, motioning towards the guard. "This is the only way we can speak without being heard."

"Then how is Keiran able to move?"

"I suppose no one truly understands our special relationship," Keiran sighed, placing his elbow on Emiri's shoulder, only for her to whack him with her free hand.

"I don't like where this is going, and we need help. Keiran, I rememeber what you did in Stigma Castle--you can go through walls, can't you?" She asked him. When he nodded, she continued, "Then get help. Nadeline, Savayna, Aloa--anyone. I'm more than certain Jaakuna was the one who asked for Cassandra, so not him."

"They'll notice I'm gone," He frowned.

"Then godspeed. I'm leaving myself in your hands."

Grant looked between the pair, unsure if this was the right course of action. Still, Keiran nodded, walking right past the guard to the door. Darkness would form an aura around him, and he would walk right through. Emiri turned to Grant, and time would resume, no doubt the guard noticing that Keiran was gone.

"A dormant blade."

Aloa found herself disappointed in the Treaty Blade that lay in the treasury. The guards paid her no mind as she held the sword to herself, though they let her be free as she would make to leave the castle. The sword in her hands was not awake--why would Shion have her get it? As she walked, she noticed a blue petal on the ground. It would seem the answer to her question would come sooner rather than later. Letting out a sigh, she would turn the corner to find Shion waiting for her there, leaning against the wall as she looked out the window. "Send me on an errand, only for you to come yourself," Aloa noted, clearly annoyed.

"The sword must be taken earnestly or it won't respond," Shion stated, taking the sword from her. "With this, I can move forward. Forgive the inconvenience. Will you go to the prince now?"

"It was the deal we struck. Though I won't say it will be so simple, Wesley is in a trance that runs deep into his own heart. I would ask my princess to assist me, but it would seem she is gone from here," Aloa shook her head. "Nothing is stronger than love, but love makes one's thoughts get thrown into the wind. I can only hope that she comes back in one piece."

"I see," Shion nodded, taking a step back into the shadows. "I will let you handle your business, then. Thank you, my friend." Her voice seemed to echo as she vanished without a trace.

Oh, were they friends now? That brought an amused smile to her face, although she would turn her attention back to the castle. Her ear twitched--Keiran was searching for her, was he? Using such magicks...what was he planning? Deciding she didn't need to keep him waiting, she would walk back in.

You can’t be serious?

That was the only thing that Jackson had to say in response to Cassandra’s stipulation. Sure, he expected someone of her reputation to give him an absurd prerequisite. Cease all activity of ARchadian expansion? Okay, that would’ve been easy. Surrender all firearms and weapons until you leave Rabanastre? Again, that’s not not unreasonable. But this--this was something that Jackson didn’t see coming. Not only was it completely unacceptable, but he did not like being blackmailed into marriage. Maybe it was what it required to ensure peace.

As he looked at Cassandra, Jackson sighed rather noticeably . There was nothing coy about it, though he would find his center a moment later. He had to approach this with tact. Channel your inner Roman, Jackson. Channel that sense of wit and diction that your brother has. Hell, channel Vincent--just without all of the violent tendencies. Leave that at the door. You can do this. You can win her over. You feel great. You. Can. Do. This.

Surely there’s another way we can broker peace, my queen,” Jackson finally said.

Oh, I was to understand that you wanted a treaty between our countries.

You know I do. I’m sure your mother has informed you.

Oh she has, but you see, with my brother marrying Nadeline, that only covers a truce between Rozarria and Dalmasca. Your former wife and Prince Grant will secure Rozarria and Archadia, but what about Dalmasca and Archadia? Unless you know a Dalmascan female of royalty who could marry a royal Archadian male, then there is no other way.” She stated, approaching Jackson closer.

As she spoke, Jackson thought--just for a moment--that he had no way out of this. Then, as if like a punch to the face, he was struck by an idea. “If it would please her majesty, may I offer you an alternate solution?

Curiously, Cassandra glanced at Jackson. “It is your right, so don’t be shy on my account.

I may have to leave for Archadia. However, if all goes well, you may get your marriage yet.

Cassandra appeared to be thinking on it long and hard, though after a moment, she nodded. “Very well, you have permission to leave. But be back here before sundown tomorrow.

As you wish, my queen,” Jackson bowed his head, kissing her hand. “I must inform my friends before I leave, though, so may I escort you back into Wesley’s room?

As she would nod, giving him all of the permission that he needed,Jackson took her arm, hooking it with his as he would walk with her back to Wesley’s room. He opened the door for her and as they would walk in, the first thing they would see was Emiri and Grant. Upon seeing the former, Cassandra gave her a smug grin. The Queen knew the Time Scion was going to be bothered by seeing her and Jackson’s arms locked.

While the moment lingered, Cassandra noticed the lack of the abomination. “Alistair! Where is the Abomination!?” She snarled, scanning every inch of the room as she looked around for Keiran.

“My Queen..I-I don’t know. He was here a minute ago.”

Jackson knew what happened and he looked to Emiri. Again, he borrowed Belias’ power of telepathic thought. You used your power again, didn’t you? Jackson sent the thought to Emiri, giving her a scolding glance, then sighed. Though, only briefly, Jackson looked to Wesley. While he used Belias’ powers, he heard something. It was..odd. Something was beating inside him, but it wasn’t his heart. Whatever it was, it had his attention.

Truth be told, Savayna wasn’t at all sure what the relationship between these three--well, two since the ginger wasn’t talking--was. They definitely seemed acquainted, but it was obvious to the Ice Queen, after Nadeline had spoken that nothing about this friendship was friendly. Of course, she jested. No friends would attack them. Laughing it off, Savayna brandished her weapon, though she noticed no movement from either the blue-haired man nor the red-haired one.

And thus began a game of the minds; a game that Savayna was not skilled at. Thankfully, for her, Nadeline was a pro at mental warfare.

Oh,” an audible gasp--low as it was--came from the blue-haired man. “So, you’ve completely unlocked it, huh? I’m impressed. Truly, this is most wonderful." The man said, raising his hands up. In both those hands a literal white flag was raised. “Sanguine, it’s time.

As you wish, Caeruleum,” Sanguine said, his voice deep and bassy.

When their eyes met, there was an exchange of words that Savayna couldn’t make out. However, when they finished, both began to glow with the same color of magick as their hair color. Immidiately, a field of mist surrounded them. It not only made Nadeline’s crown to disappear but the trident that Savayna had drawn a moment ago was also gone.

What gives?

Many apologies,” Caeru regretfully said, “I couldn’t run the risk of Zodiark hearing our conversation. Please, Princess Nadeline, we mean you no harm. This was the only way I could ensure complete privacy.” Caeruleum stated, then switched his focus to Savayna. “And my apologies for hitting you too hard, Lady Savayna. I had to make it look convincing.

Okay, Savayna was officially confused. This was too much mental warfare for her. In response, Savayna threw up her hands, signally she officially gave up.

Caeruleum laughed, though his eyes would stay upon Nadeline. “I know you’re thinking this might be some kind of trap, but I assure you that this is no trap. I do this on the behest of my master.

“Zodiark?”

He is no master of ours,” Caeruleum snapped at Savayna, his voice sharp. “He has tainted the name of our organization. He and that Creature have done so many horrible things to this land. No, he is not our master. The one we serve knows truly what must be done no matter the costs. He understands our role in the war to come is meant to be as ambiguous as possible.

Savayna scratched her head. “And who might that be, exactly?”

The one we serve is a friend to many. He is a hero of Ivalice. He is the future king of this country, Wesley Henry Alexander.

"You've seen better days."

Sure enough, there was the demon himself, wandering about the castle aimlessly. He seemed slightly sheepish as he approached her, scratching the back of his head. To see him without his master was a sign of trouble, this much was sure. The viera approached him, though she took heed of the many burns on his flesh. An organized pattern, a magic by lineage as opposed to being taught. She caught him off guard as she would raise one of his arms, inspecting it. Keiran couldn't help but wince as Aloa's nail traced the lineage of Cassandra's magic. Aloa raised a curious eyebrow at him, though her magicks were already at work, restoring a majority of the injuries.

"That viera magick sure is something to write home about," Keiran stated incredulously, looking at his arms. "Thanks, that was starting to bother me a bit."

"Was it? You do not seem the kind easily bothered by appearance. An inherited trait of your master, is it?" She asked. When Keiran fell silent, it all but confirmed it. "Zodiark sought to control the Scion of Time with a parasite that fed on emotion, unaware that it went both ways. I do not believe it to be a simple mistake. Should the time come, will you claim her life?"

His eyes widened, but he shook his head. "I can't do that," He said.

"I did not say 'can'. I said 'will'."

"What's the difference?"

"If I so pleased, I 'could' eradicate your existence here and now. It would take time, but believe me--I have the capability. As will my princess, in due time. However, I 'will' not do so, as I am still unsure of your purpose here," She explained her point as clearly as possible. "Now tell me, you of darkness--where is your master?"

"Oh, right, that Cassandra chick is kind of a crazy bitch. So Emiri sent me to look for you."

Of course she was. "Do tell. I'd like to know what it is I am up against."

"Well, for one, she's the one that did this to me," He indicated his previously burnt marks. "For second, she really hates Emiri and Nadeline. And for third, she's super weird. Oh and something about wanting to unify Dalmasca and Archadia? It's a little confusing, but that's the gist of it."

That explanation reminded her of Vlyn. Which, in this case, was a bad thing. He squirmed underneath her disapproving gaze, though she shook her head. "Right. Then I will go--you make yourself hard to find, until your master summons you again," She instructed him, much to his confusion.

"Won't that make that Queen chick angry?" He asked, worried.

"Most likely. However, she is capable of inflicting harm to you, and by proxy, your master. You don't seem to value your own life, but you value your master's. You're a burden--for now."

"You really don't mince words, do you?" He asked as she would walk off.

"I've lived too long to do otherwise. Do as I say, demon. If the Queen is as you say, then she will waste her time to look for you--the least you can do is buy time. When you are needed, she will call you. Until then, revert into the shadows."

Her words were scathing, but she had a point. He stuck his tongue out at her back as she turned the corner, but he wasn't able to defend himself. Was he really in the way? Of course he was, Cassandra had dangled him in front of Grant like he was candy. He let out a sigh, crossing his arms as he leaned against the wall. It wasn't that he didn't trust Aloa, he just felt bad. Wait, he felt bad that he was hiding? Shit, Aloa was right, he really was adapting that girl's personality. Letting out a huff, he wandered over to a window, where a gorgeous bouquet decorated a small table. Letting out another groan, he stepped into its shadow, sinking in and disappearing from sight.

Some very, unladylike thoughts crossed Emiri's mind when Cassandra would walk in with Jaakuna, practically wrapped around his arm. Then, what Grant had said was true? No, no way. But how they had walked in just now all but confirmed it. Oh, how she would have loved nothing more than to wipe that stupid smug look off her face. She crossed her arms, clearly displeased, though Grant would pat her head twice, signaling her to calm down. But she didn't want to calm down! She wanted to strangle that stupid child who was so drunk off her power that she thought she could just do whatever she wanted!

Grant, on the other hand, was...well, he wanted to say he was relieved to see Jaakuna, but the truth was that he could literally feel Emiri's seething hatred radiating off of her. He actually found it really funny--he never thought Emiri was the jealous type, but lo and behold. Managing to control his smile, he opened his mouth to say something, but as he knew, Cassandra figured out that Keiran was gone. Her outburst was...loud. He did notice, however, that now Emiri was the one with the smug look.

"I wonder where he went?" Emiri feigned ignorance, eyes wide. "Guess you should have finished him off when you had the chance, hmm?"

Grant groaned. Why would she tempt fate like that? Instead, his attention went once more to the door, and now he could actually sigh in relief as the viera would knock. Finally, someone sane. "Aloa...you've returned," He said, clearly relieved.

"Of course, Highness. Her Majesty has done her part, and now I may do mine, as promised," Aloa placed a hand on her hip, lightly tousling her hair. "If I have your permission, Majesty, I would like to get started as quickly as possible."

How convenient.

"You would have me believe that Wesley is your master?" Nadeline scoffed, still holding her weapon out. "You must forgive my doubt--no, even if that is the truth, you have yet to answer me. If the Brotherhood was usurped from Wesley, I need to know who did it. And I need to find Sylvester at all costs." She ended up lowering her weapon unintentionally. "Sylvester did...something to Wesley, and now slumbers with no hope of awakening. I was foolish to think it was the mere shock of seeing his supposedly dead brother alive again, but I will play the fool no longer."

Vlyn peered up at the sky. Was it going to rain? It looked like it, but then again, the clouds could wander by without so much as a peep. Then again, they were rather dark and heavy looking. He probably should have brought a hat. A chocobo's cry snapped him out of his thoughts, and he patted the bird's beak, letting it go into the pen with the rest of the chocobos. Stretching his arms above his head, he would bow to the Garif guards as he passed them. It had been a long time since he had visited Jahara, though unlike the rest of Ivalice, it doesn't change as much. There were more youth running around, now. He was glad of this, watching them for a moment. As the breeze flew by, he spotted a single blue petal whisk past him, and he turned around, spotting Shion walking towards him, holding the Treaty Blade with both hands.

"She got the sword already? That was quick," He admitted his surprise, and together they walked.

"Likely it was the young Queen who granted it to her. The youth of today don't appreciate history. Were she to have asked the prince, there would have been more reasonable reluctance," Shion explained. "I will take the fortune without question. I fear he is starting to catch onto me."

"What? How?" Vlyn asked, shocked.

"It was when I went to the Henne Mines. There I met with one of his twelve. It was no coincidence, though it was an unfinished battle--the gods willed that the mines would cave in just as I was about to finish him off. Or rather, before he could lure me in for a likely trap..." She closed her eyes for a moment, opening them as they arrived before the elders. "I only pray that I finish before he comes for me himself."

"I thought you said he no longer saw you as a threat now that the others have awakened?"

"What I hope to do will give them a fighting chance. He won't allow it if he can help it. Should something happen to me, the task will fall on you and Aloa. She knows everything that is needed, and will instruct you as such," She said.

Vlyn frowned, though the pair turned their attention to the Garif. They would bow deeply, raising themselves after an appropriate time. "So you have returned for more. I take it you found a way to make the old method work?" Geomancer Kulumani asked, curious. "I am pleased, and horrified. The lengths at which you humes would reach is unfathomable."

"I do it for the sake of Ivalice," Shion stated. "I visited the mines at your instruction, and I know now what I must do. I only ask for your Jaya Stick to bless the blade once more. After that, I will not bother you again."

"Even with the sword awakened, what could you hope to accomplish? The Ashlesha Ascendant is no longer the child that the gods had sealed away. He has matured, and will know what you are doing, and the most you will accomplish is giving him your life," Kulumani couldn't help but say. "Truly, will you throw away everything for nothing?"

"It is not for nothing. And if my life is forfeit, then I will make sure I succeed before I die," Shion protested, shaking her head.

Kulumani sighed. "I remember a time ago...a hume child who had lost everything sought out power. She did what few humes could, and got her power through her own means. And now she chooses to throw it all away...may Arvia protect you, and see to it that you prove me wrong. Speak to Hotonak, he has it."

Shion would bow once more, though she would walk away without another word. Vlyn gave chase, though he couldn't stop but ask, "Arvia? I wasn't aware they spoke the names of the gods they worship."

"Please, I do not want to talk about that," Shion replied quietly, leaving a stunned Vlyn behind. As she bid the stick from Hotonak, he surrendered it gladly, and she would lay the blade on the ground. Closing her eyes, she would shake it once, twice, and on the third time, the sword would glow. An inscription appeared on her hand, the sword fading into a light and gathering into her hand. She thanked the Garif, returning the stick, and she would turn to Vlyn. "And so it is done. There is only one thing left for me to do. If you'd like, you may return to Aloa."

Vlyn rubbed his nose, hesitant. "Don't you want back up in case one of Zodiark's goons decides to try to bring back your head to their master?"

"They can certainly try. None of them have what it takes to fell me. Only Zodiark himself reserves that honor. I will not fall to any other," She stated boldly, regaining her usual confidence. "If you choose to come, so be it. Onwards, then."

Savayna was just as wary of the Caeruleum and Sanguine. Though she didn’t have as much time invested in finding Sylvester as Nadeline had, she stood ready to strike should the two prove to be untrustworthy. At the moment, however, she simply stood next to her Rozarrian friend.

Meanwhile, Caeruleum seemed to grow weary. He sighed exasperatedly. “For such a well-educated girl, you can be so stupid sometimes.” Caeru seemed to have snapped, “are you really that clouded by your need to find Sylvester that you never noticed what’s happening to Wesley?” Caeru took in a deep breath, turning around as he would try to find his center.

Though, as he would, Sanguine stepped forward. “Rozarrian girl, please do not hate my brother. His tact is not what ours is,” Sanguine apologized for his twin brother. “Our master told us specific instructions exactly how to grab you off of the street. You see, there was another reason why he came back to Dalmasca. Of course, you know one of the reasons: to live up to his destiny as heir to the throne, but that was a gesture to save face. The truth of it all is that, the night before he left for Dalmasca, he received word from one of our spies inside the false Brotherhood faction of who was responsible for what happened to you and more importantly, how our master ended up in his comatosed state.

Savayna spaced out throughout a lot of what he said, though she heard that last bit about the one who was responsible for usurping the Brotherhood from Wesley. “]And who might that be?

We do not know his name, only that he goes by The Protector. I imagine he’s the one that Leviathan partnered up with, Lady Savayna.” Sanguine implied, looking at Savayna.

Are you trying to say that this...Protector is the reason why my father is dead?

That’s exactly what I’m saying. But furthermore, my queen, Wesley knew all of this and…” Sanguine took a breath in. “Our master did not want to believe the rumors are true, so that’s why Hashmal did what he did.

What did Hashmal do?

He gave Wesley a fighting chance. He--” Just as Sanguine was speaking, he was suddenly impaled from the back as a black sword pierced through his chest. His eyes were wide. He looked back, though before he could make out exactly who it was they were gone and he staggered forward. The sword was still in his chest and he started to cough up blood. He reached to Nadeline. He was able to grab her hand. As he did, his body faded away, the black sword being the only thing left behind.

As Savayna picked up the sword, she sensed something from it. A dark, vile mist similar to Zodiark but even more ancient was coursing through the blade. Before she could say anything, there came another sword for Caeru, though he dodged it. He looked over to Savayna and Nadeline. Reaching out he brought them close to him. “He comes back. Please, protect our master. Tell him that his faithful servants tried but The Protector came for us.”

Before they could even get a word in, Caeru surrounded them in a field of Mist and in the final moments before everything went black, the sight of a cloaked figure with red eyes stabbed Caeru in the same way that it had Sanguine.

And then there was nothingness.

The Dark Castle in the Sky, while it had always had a dark field of mist surrounding it, was abnormally melancholy. It was causing ripples all over the east of Ivalice; from the marshlands of Tchita to the Port of Balfonheim. Storms raged on, lightning striking the ports and fires starting all over all lands. One could wager this was a reflection of Zodiark’s own strife and anger.

He sat in his throne, sulking and surrounded by his pitch black Mist. Though, as he sat there, in came Robur, his loyal Lion Knight. His metal armor clanked on the stone ground. He would bend the knee as he stopped in front of his master.

Master Zodiark, our sources on the ground say she has the sword.

Yes, Robur, I’m well aware.

Zodiark wasn’t being told anything new. He knew about The Blue Rose getting the Sword of Kings. He knew exactly where she was. Shion knew that he knew she had the sword. Still, it didn’t stop her from doing whatever she was planning on doing. Though, it was a curious thought. She was at Jahara and was with the male viera. Whatever she had in mind might work. The real question was if Zodiark should let her do it or stop her. He most certainly could, but would was the question.

While Cassandra frantically went searching around the room, the others just looked on as she kinda lost her center and all because of Keiran not in the room. Did she really hold him in the highest of priorities and instead forgot about her brother? Jackson didn’t understand it. Gods, if he had to marry someone that loose in the head, he might just have Savayna kill him before that happens.

Though the queen didn’t notice, the others saw ALoa had returned. And from what she just said, it seemed as though the time has come to cure Wesely. However, there was just one problem with that: Cassandra heard none of it. In fact, she was glowing and not in the way you’d want her to. Her Mist activated and eyes were bright with orange light. Her face was as if wrath itself became Cassandra.

Nothing happens until that Abomination returns to this room!” Cassandra roared, huffing heavily.

Jackson would step forward, though he did hear Belias’ voice repeat Whatever you do, don’t let it be the same you did to that Maester. He knew that of course. Jackson knew that he couldn’t handle this as Jaakuna would. He had to handle it with care. He looked back to Emiri, mouthing ‘please forgive me’

And then he did the unthinkable. Jackson took Cassandra’s face in both of his hands and he locked lips with her. A passionate kiss that lasted for about five seconds and then her mist was gone. Her crazed look went down to one of neutral calmness and--well, her entire body was shaking as if the most wonderful thing happened to her.

Cassandra, Aloa is ready to cure Wesley.” Jackson smiled at Cassandra.

O-oh okay,” Cassandra stuttered, still recovering from that surprise kiss from Jackson. “Please, Miss Aloa, proceed as planned.

Jackson would then go over to Emiri. “I had no choice. She was ready to destroy us all.” Jackson sighed, avoiding Emiri’s gaze in fear of what she might do to him if he did.

Just as Jackson had submitted to the thought of Emiri likely scolding him mentally, he felt a familiar mist. “Oh Gods, not again!” For a moment, Jaakuna had come back out as he covered his head with his arms and whimpered quietly. However, as nothing happened to him, he would finally open his eyes and he saw that nothing happened to him. In fact, as he would look in front of him, he saw what everyone saw. “Nadeline, Savayna--where did you two come from?

Emiri let out something between a cry of surprise and a whine, and it was only by Grant hastily grabbing the back of her dress that she didn't pounce on both Jaakuna and Cassandra. What the hell?! What was he thinking?! She didn't know what was worse, the kiss or the googly eyes Cassandra had for him. She had seen enough, and had half a mind to walk out before a burst of Mist brought in both Nadeline and Savayna. Why didn't they just walk in?

"What a reunion," Aloa commented rather dryly, though she would bow to her princess. "Full of surprises today, are we?"

Nadeline's head was spinning--she barely recognized Aloa's voice, though as she clutched her head, things began to steady themselves. Letting out a small breath, she straightened herself, dusting off her shoulders and skirt before looking around the room. How convenient, indeed. Her foul mood was written all over her face with a rather stern expression. Grant had to jump out of her way as she stomped past everyone over to Wesley's sleeping form. She let out a sigh, turning back to the group as she would look at each of them. Oh joy, something had happened here as well. It was good to know life continued in her absence, but Emiri looked about ready to strangle someone.

"We came from the Brotherhood stronghold I had been taken to before," She informed Jaakuna, raising an eyebrow at the closeness he and Cassandra suddenly shared. "The short of it is that apparently, my beloved had a few hobbies I didn't know about, although I do believe the intrusion of Zodiark or one of his cohorts cut the conversation short before any meaningful information could have been extracted."

"You did what now?" Grant was incredulous. Had everyone suddenly lost their minds?

Nadeline ignored him, turning back to Wesley. "Wesley...Sanguine and Caeru...they wanted me to tell you that they tried. They were faithful to you until the end...But the Protector came for them," She told them quietly, only realizing that she had cried when she finished. The shock had worn off--they had died, and even then they managed to get them to safety.

Emiri walked up to Nadeline, a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Naddie, what does that mean?" She asked gently. "Who are you talking about?"

She shook her head. "I don't know what it means."

Nadeline's head wasn't the only one that was spinning. She found herself seeing double and triple of everyone. Only was it with Mateus' intervention that she slowly saw only one of them, though that didn't ease the headache she was experiencing. That must've been what Jaakuna went through when Zodiark warped him away back in ARchadia. Seeing it was one thing but actually experiencing it was a whole different ball game. As Savayna stood up, the room began spinning, she stagged right into Grant as their heads bonked and both of them fell to the ground. Though Grant probably was okay, Savayna was seeing stars.

Meanwhile, everyone else had their own reactions to the sudden appearances of Nadeline and Savayna. As Naddie would tell what happened and state some names, Cassandra blinked a few times. "Pardon me, Nadeline, but did you say Caeru? As in Caeruleus Lumenverum? And Sanguine? Sanguine Lumenverum?" Cassandra asked, her voice shaky as if she heard the unthinkable. She started to step slowly towards Nadeline.

Savayna regained her consciousness, hearing Cassandra. "Oi, I don't know. They were twins. One had blue hair and the other red."

Unknown to everyone else, Cassandra started to cry, though anyone with half of a sense of emotions, they could tell they were tears of joy and happiness. "I thought they have died. Where are they?"

Savayna suddenly went silent, which Jackson found uncharacteristic. "Sanguine died before he could tell us the rest about Wesley's condition and Caeruleus sacrificed himself to save us. He's the person who warped us here." Savayna informed Cassandra.

"I see.." Cassandra wiped her tears away. "Those two--the ones that you encountered--they were my father's illegitimate sons. Just five years older than Wesley," Cassandra turned to Nadeline, holding her hand, her eyes still teary. "Nadeline, the ones that saved you were Wesley's brothers. Whatever they told you, it has to be the truth. Those two, according to my father, were the most loyal of men he had ever known. It pained him to set them aside, but Dalmascan politics aren't something to be trifled with. So, please, tell me what they said to you. I need to know." Cassandra pleaded with Nadeline.

So they were half-siblings. Nadeline felt a pang of guilt as Savayna would inform Cassandra about their sacrifice. Once again, she felt powerless. She should have tried to stay. To do...something. But once again, she was whisked away without so much as a scratch to show for it. She looked down at her hand, the one Sanguine had held onto as he faded away. She was surprised to see Cassandra take it, pleading with her. What would she say? How once again she had failed? How her own stupidity had probably cost them their lives? She closed her eyes, a pained look on her face.

"How very quaint. The Queen shows such humility when she pleases, does she?!"

Emiri had enough of the scene, tempted to swat away Cassandra's hand, but instead chose to speak. Grant gave her a look. "Emiri...is now the time?" He asked cautiously.

"Considering how it's to her advantage, yes, now is precisely the time," Emiri snapped, clearly furious. "Would you like to know what your future-sister-in-law did? Why don't you tell Nadeline how you practically imprisoned myself and Grant here, and performing that half-assed attempt at purifying Keiran after knowing full well what effect it had on me?" She was on a roll, and wasn't about to stop. "But now that someone has something you want, now you show compassion? Now you dare to plead? What kind of half-assed kind of bitch are you?!"

"Emiri!" Now Nadeline had spoken up, hands on her hips. "Truly, you've lost some of those brain cells of yours. You aren't dead, are you? You look to be in perfect health--and getting rid of Keiran is precisely what we should be trying to do!"

Gods help them, Grant could feel another fight incoming. "Now, now, let's stay civil here..." Grant tried to calm things down as he tried to have Emiri take a few steps back, only for her to rather violently slap his hands away. "Okay, ow, really?"

"Shut up, Grant! I'm through playing nice with someone who continuously disrespects me!"

Nadeline took a step to the side so that she was directly in the middle of both Cassandra and Emiri. "Calm yourself before I calm you down."

"Oh, a threat! That's right, considering you are both royalty, you would side with one another! My deepest apologies, Majesties," She stated sarcastically, performing a rather unnecessary and over the top bow. "Do explain to this measly peasant why I shouldn't beat someone to a pulp that continuously makes the moves on my--yes, bitch, my man. You think she would've drawn the line at almost killing me, but noooo, let's take it further! Why don't I save you the trouble and just throw myself out the window?! That way you can get married and live happily ever after!!"

Nadeline extended her hand, signaling Cassandra to take a step back as she withdrew her rapier. "This'll be the last time I warn you, Emi. Calm down."

Emiri responded in kind, withdrawing her own blade. At that point Grant chose to take a few steps back, his hands in the air, signaling defeat. "No."
