"Welcome." Chiyohime said turning back. She went back to her apartment and started to knit a new scarf. She didn't regret giving the man the scarf, far from it she could just practice her skill again. She decided on blue as a color and started to knit away. She hoped that her next adventure for a person like her would be more successful.

James looked around Lily's apartment. It was a nice place, and she even had a dog, which he smiled at. The apartment looked better than his old one, he had to admit. "This place is nice," James says. "A lot better than my home was." He feels a bit sad saying that about his old home, but he shook his head slightly. James took in the sight of the living room, but was confused at why the lights were so bright. He shrugged, and continued to look around the room.

"I wish I had a dog, but they defecate too much and might eat my experiments." Arlene furrowed her brow and knelt in front of the dog, petting him. "It was a good thing the last dog I had only got into the barium sulfate." She yawned and got up, not wanting to dwell on the memory of taking her pet to the shelter out of fear he would gobble up a more harmful compound. She glanced at the lights, vaguely perplexed at the brightness, but found them painful to look at, so she was rubbing her eyes before she could have noticed the orbs in the fixtures. She remembered a granola bar she'd put in her purse in the morning and then promptly forgotten, so she took it out and munched greedily. She looked over at James. "Have you ever had pets?"

"Sorry, I'll turn the lights down. I always forget others don't like them as bright as I do" Lily said, making a show of using the dimmer switch to let the light down, while under the oretence of brushing back a stray strand of hair she let the light fade q bit, "Moe is a good dog, I've made sure he doesnt get into things he shouldn't"

She ooened her fridge up, seeing some left overs, other bits and pieces and a large packet of bacon, and some eggs. Thre was also milk and juice, and in tne cuoboard ceral and toast.she sighed, got out the bacon qnd eggs hoping neither f them were vegetarians, and started to cook it, grabbing bread, three plates and glasses as it cooked.

James turned to Ace, and said; "When I was really young, we had an eagle. She flew away one day, though. Wish I still had her." He thought for a moment, saw the lights dim down, and smiled. "I like birds." He said. He took a glance at Lily, then back at Ace. "I just think they look cool, flying through the air, you know. Sometimes I wish I was a bird." James chuckled. He sometimes did wish he was a bird. It'd be fun to just fly through the air without a care in the world.

"Thank you," she said to Lily. "I think I'm more of an other-people's-dog lover." Then she shrugged at James. "Fascinating choice for a pet. If I were a bird I'd want to be in the raven family. They're smart, they can use tools." She glanced back up at the lights, subconsciously thinking that she was sure she'd seen something weird, but she brushed the thought to the back of her mind. "I'm glad I'm a human, though, I like having heating and electricity. And a periodic table to goggle at when I'm trying to make something." She took a battered bit of paper out of her purse to look with a smile at the table, which was marked with notes and numbers and letters in any blank space it had once had, then put it back.

Lily busied herself cooking, "no neadache James?" She asked after a minute, habit making ner check as if she was on her rounds at the hospital. Which reminded her. She looked down at her uniform, thrn went to quickky change, returning just as the food was ready. She dished it up, pouring juice, gtsbbing toast.

she put it kn the bench, and because she was weak gavd Moe a bit of bacon, which he lapped up eagerly.

(TIMES SQUARE)

Tabby wandered away from the stage and into the crowd around Times Square but soon found that in all the excitement she was having trouble gaining her bearings.
Swept along by the crowd she soon found an opening and moved towards it to encounter an area that was dark and strangely deserted. It was an alley way and not a street and it's lack of lighting the reason the people avoided it.
Not wishing to risk the crowd again she moved deeper into the dark her senses warning that this could be a mistake but didn't let that stop her.

She moved past doors that appeared fortified and dumpsters that left her wondering about a driver's strike. Then she heard him. Someone was stalking her and the fear of attack began to cause her body to tingle as she built without summoning it a surface charge.

The stalker grabbed her without warning and he instantly screamed as her body's defense was automatic an devastating. She decided that rather than allow him a chance to recover she'd assure that he stayed down by dropping on him and delivering a sustained jolt.

Once he fell silent and could only twitch then Tabby stood an headed out to escape the dark canyon between the buildings.

James nodded at Ace, looked at Lily and said; "No, I don't have a headache." He smiled at her, then turned back to Ace. "I think ravens are alright. I like eagles because, well..." Why did he like eagles? "They're pretty cool." He replied, and smiled even more. He was enjoying this, people caring for him. He'd barely ever had it before, apart from Sarah, but James had forgotten about her. He didn't like her anymore, not after what she did. After he had murdered her.

"If you want food, you better get it befor Moe desides to take a chance and gobble it all up" lily said, taking plate herself, starved as she had missed dinner. Mrs Stevenson and ner pain pills, of course. She flopped on the couch, completely at ease in her apartment. She looked up at the light uneasily, then started to eat.

"Eagles are majestic creatures. They are free, and...beautiful" lily said thoughtfully

Arlene took a plate and started to eat ravenously. She thought James was a cool person when you got past the fact that he'd beaten the crap out of a few people; she didn't know of course that he'd murdered people. "Eagles are cool. But they have mean talons," she added cheerfully, recalling the sight of a person handling a captive eagle and having had to wear a thick glove. "Ahh, sweet mother of bacon, I love bacon." She could feel her energy-sucking brain kicking back into high gear as she ate, and she became more alert, more thoughtful. She glanced up at the lights again and squinted. She knew something was strange about them. Was it just the wattage? Perhaps they were a different kind of fixture. She couldn't figure it out.

James smiled, and took a plate. He sat, and began to eat. "I can't disagree with that. I've never gotten scratched, and I never do want to get scratched."
He noticed Ace looking at the lights, and looked at them himself. There was something slightly wrong with the lights, but he shrugged, and continued to eat. He occasionally glanced at Ace and Lily, and smiled, then went back to eating.

"Bacon is awesome" lily agreed, smiling slightly. Shenfed Moe another Piece because she was such a softy, but then refused him more. Undaunted, he tried to other two, giving puppy dog eyes. She laughed shaking her head

"And Moe just absolutely adores it" she said, drinking some of her juice.

she noticed thsm both 9looking at he lights, and held her breath. Why hadn't she thought of them? It was too late to turn the on properly, to take out the orbs. But when neither of them said anyting, she let out her breath slowly

Arlene raised an eyebrow. "So...what is with the lights?" she asked, breaking off a tiny bit of bacon for Moe. "I feel like I should know. There's quite a bit of chemistry involved, and that's my field, but these are different." She didn't seem too bothered by the lights themselves. It was more the fact that she didn't know exactly what made them so strange. "I considered magnesium, but that gets much too hot and doesn't burn very long." She finished the food, downed her juice and went back to petting the dog. "Well, anyway, it was very kind of you to allow the both of us to stay here. I should probably be on my way soon."

Phoebe shrugged, hoping to appear at ease, and notnt ll worried, "people often say my kights are magical" she said with a laugh, which was more nervous then humourous. "You are welcome to stay the night-i have a spare bed, and im sure ive got a blow up mattresses somewhere" lily liked to camp, but hated camping beds. Hence an air matteress.
