Post for Bill is up. I'll have one shortly for Mike, just to get him involved a bit. Had to vanish for Fall Break; my mom got her Doctorate (finally), and the family threw her a surprise party. This necessitated a stealth-drive up to Colorado so I could surprise her with my presence, and we have wonky internet up in the heart of the Rockies where the family farm is. But I'm back in the flat-lands now, with steady connection.

Thanks y'all! It enjoy seeing the folks, and playing with the critters, but it's nice to be back in my own apartment.

It's also nice to not have to get up to help with the goats at zero-stupid-thirty in the morning haha

The Hulk Rabbits are great. Very friendly, which is unfortunate, because it'll be that much more unpleasant when butchering season comes.

I find it's easier to shoot something when it tries to bite you every time you feed it.

One of the problems of static martial-arts training was the tendency for practitioners to pause after executing a technique. This habit was trained into them by the rigid formality of most martial arts dojos. While this was fine when a man’s only purpose was to earn a new belt or get a shiny trophy, in battle it could get a man killed.

I'm hearing echoes of my KwanJangNim from where I work... as he has so painfully demonstrated on my ribs a number of times during sparring.

Yep. A lesson I learned myself (painfully, I might add) from my own MCMAP (Marine Corps Martial Arts Program) instructor, Sergeant Mauro.

We did that exact drill I described in the post, actually. Regardless of who was executing the technique on whom, as soon as the technique was finished (be it a leg-sweep, or a shoulder throw, or what have you) we rolled immediately into ground-fighting. It was...Useful, but unpleasant?

Sounds about right! Big difference between doing hyungs (katas), sparring for points, continuous sparring, and fighting for your life. All related, but never mistake any one of the them for any of the other. Your mention of dropping your weight into the technique? Dead on! The do-jang's masters are really focused on getting the students to be less stiff and to use the sine wave more in their movements.

Kuro, there isn't a thing in the world wrong with your post! It's perfectly all right not to write a chapter for a novel in each, and sometimes shorter posts just fit! I know I'm probably too late here, but honestly, your post was wonderful!
