Dingo, No see the ward is blocking magical access. Supernatural means or creatures can't pierce it. I thought Rift Hound was just a Metahuman? Regardless, I don't believe entering on his own would be very smart.

One question, why are there gasoline and guns in a prison? Prison guards can't even carry night sticks around, so why would the prison have those more dangerous weapons?

Gasoline is to power prison vehicles and emergency generators. Guns are for situations exactly like the one we're in right now.

Obviously the prisoners wouldn't have ready access to them, but it's safe to assume they've busted into the fuel pumps and armory by brute force or careful planning.

Maybe a prison would have gasoline for a backup generator. I'd also assume a prison that had superpowered people in it was packing something a little heavier than nightsticks. I could be wrong, but I can't imagine that sort of prison not having either of those.

Awww Blacksam beat me to it. Even if they couldn't get into the armory, they can still kill the guards that have guns. Not to mention there's obviously something at work here, unless one of the prisoners is powering the nullification field and reanimating all those beasts, so they may have found a way to help arm the prisoners/catalyze the prisoners getting guns as well, but that's more conjecture than anything.

I'm kind of confused now. Where is "out here" exactly. I thought that the magic diminishing barrier was around the entire prison, or is that just deeper inside?

The prison itself is being subjected to the dampening field.

The area immediately outside out is where it doesn't affect anything.

Krein, the perimeter and ground around the prison is where the big battle is going down. The courtyard is a little deeper inside the prison where the League and the Feds are battling it out with the inmates.
