From her species, I have gathered that monsters such as herself take on a true form when they become of age, usually as a combination of their parents' genes, similar to dog breeds, just more complex, and with a great bit of randomness to it. The parents do influence the outcome, but there are many possibilities. I cannot say for certain, but it appears that Jade's subspecies may be a Wendigo.

Mierno: we deal with threats like this almost daily. The only reason it took so much out of me is that I wished to keep miss Jade alive. She is one of us, but within her species, when they mature, they become murderous. She is reaching that state. We are trying to find a way to halt it permanently, or at least keep it from driving her mad.

Yes, a creature with insatiable bloodlust and a hunger that cannot be reduced. Her particular strand appears to consume life force with those energy spears, but from the bite attempt, it looks like she was also more than willing to resort to the usual cannibalistic tendencies.

Other monsters have managed to control their impulses in the past. It'll be difficult since she ended up with an unlucky breed, but it's absolutely possible.
