<Snipped quote by Host>
My mom and I have tried together. She's agreed that there are times when he's very illogical. It's complicated.
Can she not override any of his decisions?

Perhaps it's a matter of finding the right time? It seems so far that you haven't had any luck with catching him at a good time to explain your plight. I'll be praying for you.
<Snipped quote by Multifarious>

<Snipped quote by Host>
A lot of times, she goes behind her or even over her to override what she says, and he has the more commanding tone and figure. It makes her angry though. He's just a hyper parent, per say.
<Snipped quote by Multifarious>
Well if both parents say counteracting things, you get to choose which to follow.
<Snipped quote by Host>
Not really, actually. That's not how it works.
<Snipped quote by Multifarious>
Why not? If dad says no and mom says yes, you can use that as a shield.
<Snipped quote by Host>
Becase if one says no in my family then it's a universal no, not the other way around.
<Snipped quote by Mammalia>
There's never a "good time". It's his personality- the way he is.
<Snipped quote by Multifarious>
I see. Why don't you talk to the elders of the church you go to and ask them to talk with him?
<Snipped quote by Multifarious>
There has to be a better answer to this problem.
<Snipped quote by Multifarious>

Jonathan, your family dynamic is a thousand times different than most people's. That just wouldn't fly.

*Shrug*

<Snipped quote by Host>
butbutbut
aren't the leaders of the church important
why is it different
<Snipped quote by Multifarious>
What about when you finish your desktop?
<Snipped quote by Host>
I can only play video games on the weekends. I won't be on enough to actively participate.
<Snipped quote by Multifarious>
What? That's a stupid rule.
<Snipped quote by Multifarious>
What? That's a stupid rule.
<Snipped quote by Mammalia>
It doesn't matter how important they are. Just because something is religious doesn't make it the best option.
At best, his dad would get mad.
At worst, it would make his dad go out of his way to make it painful for him.
<Snipped quote by Host>
As my mom and I agreed.
<Snipped quote by Host>
I know a lot of families who either used to or still have that rule. It's sad.
<Snipped quote by Host>
Well, I meant that he would be obligated to listen to them. This wasn't made out of a religious bias, it was made out of my observation that normally, people consider the word of the leaders of a church to be important. But I would suppose that if it makes him mad it's not the way to go. This is really a bad position. A father should never be so adverse to listening, but when he is, your options for action besides prayer deplete to almost zero.
<Snipped quote by Multifarious>
Why don't the two of you talk him out of thinking it? Is he really so stubborn as to stick to a rule if he's the only one satisfied with it?
<Snipped quote by Mammalia>
That doesn't make it any less of an idiotic rule.
Obligated to listen, perhaps, but not to change.
