I wasn't trying to, although I considered that that might be your reaction to my wording. It took me a minute to decide whether to stay consistent with what you said "this" was or say "we" instead, but I eventually decided to just say "Americans" to be consistent.

And concerning the consequences, that's why I said we can't change it. It just wouldn't work out.
