In other words, it may make things better faster to try to get that social interaction rather than hole up and wait for it to pass.

I love dragon ball, but fighting games end up getting boring too quickly for me to justify spending $60 on it. I may get it some time down the road when it's cheaper.

You're asking for your device to do something that physically can't be done without special hardware.

would it be possible to make a setup where the program is on the computer and the phone only has to act as a means for the inputs while showing the outputs?

It's not what I mean completely, but it's close enough I think. Only other way to put it is equating the phone to a game controller that's also the tv, and the computer as the game system, with the program being the game you want to play.

It would likely be hard to code now that I think about it.

Moving processing power over won't help that either. Latency is why you can't turn your display into a portable version of your comp.
