Ability: Enhanced emotional empathic nerves. Brookes' genes have been altered to allow him to sense and control others' feelings to a certain point. With most people, he is able to feel their emotions and that makes him uncomfortable in crowds because most of the time he can't control the ability and experiences too many emotions at once. During times when he feels extreme emotions Brookes is sometimes unable to cope with his emotions as he is used to others' emotions and not his own. This makes the emotion manifest and force it's way into others' minds making them experience the same emotion. Due to this fact, Brookes tries to control his emotions because most of these episodes consist of negative emotions and rarely positive ones. Also to an extent, Brookes is able to take in a single persons emotions so much that he can fully transfer them to himself. The only downside to this part of the ability is that the other person must be conscious of him taking their emotions and must fully agree. So in a way it works as a form of emotional healing for the person.
Mutation: Brookes' eye color tends to change with the dominant emotion he is taking in. And if two emotions are equally strong they split and color each eye differently.
Brief Personality: Brookes is often a very considerate and caring person due to the fact that he experiences the emotions of whoever is around him. Aside from that fact he is prone to psychotic episodes if there are too many people around with emotions that are very different. Also coming along, sometimes instead of a psychotic episode, as a way to cope. Brookes will become very distant and dreamy because the emotions are taking over his mind to a point where he is unable to be fully conscious.
History: Before he came to Darkwood, Brookes was a very uncaring person. Not to put it in a mean way but he wasn't aware of others' emotions. Completely and utterly unaware of social norms or signs. He never knew when somebody was sad until he accidentally said something that made them cry when he was simply trying to state something logical. Due to this, he became a social outcast in his school but he didn't care very much. All he ever needed was himself.
After his powers manifested, Brookes became very caring and empathetic towards anyone he met but it soon became too much for him. The crowded school often induced his dreamy trance state and when his friends asked him what was wrong, he freaked out on them and was soon sent to a mental hospital for his "condition". There, he became less prone to going crazy due to the nature of others around him, he learned how to control the psychotic rampages mostly. Although sometimes it still showed through. But before he could practice more, he was taken away from the hospital and brought to Darkwood to help him control his power even more.
Other Effects: As mentioned before hand. Psychotic episodes are prone to occur if people pester him whilst he is overloaded with emotions. Normally it happens when he is semi-conscious and somebody tries to talk to him too much. Then he gets irritated and the negative emotions overcome the happy ones which is what leads to the episodes.
