The night was warm, and pretty quiet, save for few owls and crickets singing their night song. A small mouse sat on the hill overlooking a village, where torches were lit by the guards who were on duty. Perking its ears as it heard the distance cries of a lone wolf deeper in the forest nearby.

CRUNCH!

The mouse was suddenly gone, an owl had swooped down upon it and clutched the small animal in its talons as it squeaked in fright. As it flew, it made sure the field mouse was dead before flying back to the ground, placing the small vertebrate on the ground. And suddenly, the owl would become large, more deformed, as it turned into a human, a young woman with long, brown hair. She wore a red dress, rather cheap but it seemed to work. Draped over her head was a black cowl, which cast a shadow over the top half of her face, hiding her eyes. Extending an arm toward the dead mouse, she grabbed it and quickly chomped down on its head, yanking it off as she chewed, watching the village as she ate her midnight snack... unusual for a 'human'.

Draco had woken in the middle of the night to relieve himself, but he couldn't get back to sleep. He lived alone, after his parents' deaths several winters ago. He felt alien in his home, as if his parents' spirits still lingered, bearing ill will towards their own son. He sat on the roof of the small hut, stargazing for several hours. However, a movement on the hill caught his attention. With swift movements he went to the hill.

"Eating those things will kill you," he said to the young woman. "At least cook the furry little bastards first."

Fayina's head jerked up from her meal as she saw the man, standing there, telling her what to do. Her cowl slid off her head and the mouse fell from her grasp as it rolled down the slope. She could only snort like some ugly animal and roll her green eyes. "Cook? I don't know how to cook."

How odd, a woman who knew nothing of how to cook. Then again, she wasn't your typical shapeshifter. She was born with the abilities of shape changing, not cursed. So she found no need for human civilization, she could just go out and fetch her food in her animal forms, therefore finding no use in how humans ate. She obtained their many other skills and customs, but breakfast, lunch, and dinner was always her favorite part of the day. And who was this man to tell her what to do? Even if he was joking, well... she wasn't exactly the one to take jokes about her species lightly.

"My advice: find someone with no standards on cooking, and zero sense of hygiene," Draco laughed. "Or perhaps something that eats carrion. I hear that vultures make good husbands." He grinned broadly, even though he knew he was about to get punched.
