“Two possibilities exist:
either we are alone in the Universe
or we are not.
Both are equally terrifying.”
― Arthur C. Clarke

Sigma Squad: The secondary squad of Xcom's operations, usually handling support aspects or reinforcement of other combat teams in high combat areas. Like Alpha squad it is made up of combat veterans. After Operation Candle-flame it is now the last fully staffed veteran combat team remaining and as such has become the new spearhead of the project. The squad itself has been as extensively modified as Alpha, in the case that something like this would come to pass. Now they are the last remaining hopes of humanity, our own survival or failure is ow in their hands.

Basically this RP would be set in the Xcom universe (Enemy Within) and focus on Sigma Squad. Each person would be a squad member, and have the choice of being a MEC trooper, A Biotic trooper,a PSI trooper, or a normal human Soldier. More information will be posted (such as CS) in the OOC (provided this gets interest), or if it is asked for.

Welcome to Xcom.

I'm interested, but I have to ask, how do you intend to balance the human troopers against the modified?

Interesting point, glad you brought it up. For the most part it would be adaptability, MEC troops make excellent heavies, but are massive targets and cant climb very easily. Biotic troops are agile and have various new abilities that help them out on the feild, but they wind up taking on a more specific, support role. Also both the MEC and the Biotic soldiers are automatically disqualified from being PSI troops (which are just normal troops with mind powers). But in the end if a person is a human soldier and finds they want to change they can be augmented, though there is no going back.

In any case, thank you all for you interest I'll start the OOC when I get home!

Thank you for the excellent definitions (I have only played a few hours of EW, and haven't made all kinds of troops yet), but I'm afraid that you didn't quite answer my question. To be frank, my fear is that amongst these various kinds of supersoldiers the normal human will stand pretty much useless. From my point of view any task on the battlefield that can be performed by a normal human can be done as well or better by one of the other lads. What I'm looking for is a real reason to choose a normal human, something that is unique to them beyond the ability to go out for drinks and not cause a bloodbath.

Sorry for that, but to be brutally honest the choice of keeping a soldier human is more of a question of ethics than ability. Because it is a volunteer program (Except for the PSI program), it might be normal for a soldier to have reservations about giving up a part of their humanity. But they are not without their charm, they get access to armor that MEC's cannot use, and that would be redundant of Biotics, such as the Ghost armor (which allows you to turn invisible for a time, with a Batman type grappling hook), or the Archangel Armor (which allows you to fly for a limited time).
