First of all, my bad for not clarifying where exactly everyone's character is in the real world. I hadn't really mentioned it since, dub naming aside, the real world's setting tends to be Japanese, as are the characters (mostly). Plus, I figured any possible IRL interactions could just be handwaved; I'm not focusing on realism here, after all.
Secondly, there's no 'fetishising' of anything going on here. Most of the characters are Japanese, hence, Japanese names.
And thirdly... why does the characters' genders matter? The anime has the cast as very predominantly male, too. Not to mention it has no bearing on the overall plot.
Now please, no more arguing over ethnicity or genders or anything like that. It's incredibly pointless and not at all a good thing to be complaining about.
