It all started with the appearance of The Traveler, its arrival changed humanity forever. Great civilizations were built upon the Moon, Mars, Venus, and beyond. Planets were changed permanently, some became garden worlds, and others had their environments altered from violently hostile to temperate and mild. It was a time of bizarre miracles that stretched out throughout our galaxy. It brought upon a golden age of which had never been seen before. We traveled out into the galaxy and knew that it was our destiny to explore the stars. The Traveler though, had a dark enemy, ruthless and merciless, its goal aimed at complete annihilation.
Centuries after our much needed golden age began, the darkness had found us, and that is when we were brought to our knees. Humanity was almost destroyed, the loss of over eighty five percent of the world’s population was the outcome of the last battle. Not all hope was lost though, the Traveler taught us how to combat the forces of darkness, and so the elite soldiers known as the Guardians were born. Ever vigilant, ever watchful, and ever willing to fight back anywhere they were needed. These Guardians lived in The Tower, their home that overlooked the military district of the city.
The tower had seven levels, each with its own use. The top level is for mission assignments, it is also where The Speaker lives, he relays the messages and information from The Speaker to the city. The second level is where the Guardians live, there are apartments for each of them. The third level is where the food is prepared and served for all who live in the tower. The fourth level is for combat training, overseen by The Speaker himself. The fifth level is the docking bay for ships and other aircraft. The sixth level is for buying, upgrading, selling, and maintaining gear and equipment. The seventh level, and last level, is for rest and relaxation, even though that is something that the Guardians very rarely get to enjoy.
This city that humanity lived in, was once a massive, technological wonder that spanned over a large part of the world. It could easily be seen from space, a sort of monument to humanities advancement. After the attack though, the city was only half the size of what it use it be. Besides holding the last of humanity, other species wondered its streets. This includes the Awoken, who are a mysterious species, with dark blue and white skin tones. As well as the Exo, who are a machine like race, known to be ruthless and powerful. All these races, have also suffered from the Darkness and have joined forces to help combat this threat. A threat that still lingered in the void, waiting for another chance to strike back and finish what it had started.
As the sun set upon the horizon, the last amber beams of its light slowly faded away into nothingness, being overtaken by the darkness of the night. The moon had now taken the suns place and the stars filled the sky. From on top of The Tower, a lone female Guardian hunter sat upon a metal bench that overlooked the city below. She was not paying attention to the city though, her attention was focused on the night sky, the stars, and the moon. The datapad that sat next to her said that the date was [10-13-2427] and the time was [23:38] After a X-1M7 stealth shuttle flew over where she was resting, she turned her attention away from the sky and moved onto her feet. She stood at six feet on the dot, her eyes were a rich emerald blue and her hair was almost as dark as the night sky above.
Since she was trained to be a Guardian at such a young age, her body was well fit and toned, ready for hard physical activities. Part of being a Guardian was being prepared for, and expecting the worst to happen while in combat. The enemy was skilled, deadly, ruthless, and did not know fear. So the Guardians had to be better, and be ready to face overwhelming odds. The datapad that sat next to her started to beep softly at her, showing a symbol of a letter across its screen. Reaching down to pick it up, a small star shaped robot appeared not far from her left shoulder, watching her closely. The robot that had appeared was called a Ghost, it could cloak and travel with the Guardian, or even dematerialize into the Guardians armor and assist from there. She had named her own personal Ghost, Orion.
"The message is from your friend Solares, you have been ordered to meet at the docking bay in a half an hour for an unannounced special operations mission that comes from The Speaker directly. Sounds like it is something very important, and trust me, I do not like these random missions either." said Orion, before vanishing. This particular Guardian was named Andromedai, her parents had named her after the galaxy that is closest to the Milky Way. Sadly, her parents were lost with the rest of her family when the darkness first appeared in the solar system. "Last time we had a mission of the sorts, we ended up fighting a couple hundred Fallen, I enjoyed that."
Reaching back to the bench, Andromedai grabbed onto her weapons and the rest of her gear before walking to the elevator at the back of the viewing room. The elevator doors opened with a soft hiss before she stepped inside of it, pressing the button for the fifth floor. Quickly and quietly, it moved to the fifth floor and opened its doors, reveling the massive docking and engineering bay that sprawled out before her. The bay was busy, it was always busy, in fact, the city was busy all day long, every day. There was always something to be done, something to be fixed, something to be sold, something to be improved upon.
"You want to find docking bay thirty three alpha, Solares will be waiting there for you. I doubt she will be joining us though, I hear she has some important meeting to attend while you and your squad mates get to fill the Fallen full of holes." Orion appeared in front of Andromedai and started to fly in the direction of docking bay thirty three alpha. It took a little over ten minutes to get there, due to the size of the area and how many people were going on with their own assignments. Once at the docking bay, the hud of her visor turned on to show the face of Solares in the upper right hand corner. Her bright green eyes peered at Andromedai before she started to speak. "My apologies Andromedai, I wanted to tell you about your mission in person but I am extremely busy and this is a much better way to share delicate information."
"As you know, we are under constant attack from the darkness. There may be small assaults here and there but after what our scanners have picked up, we think we may have a serious problem." The image of a large figure appeared where Solares's face had been, showing lots of movement of small figures around it. "We found this about three hundred miles outside of the city. How we did not notice it until now is part of the issue, if the darkness can construct bases this quickly, well..." There was a pause before Andromedai spoke. "We are going to need to scout out that base before any actions can be taken. I guess I am one of the people for such a job, right?” Solares appeared back on Andromedais hud. "That would be correct, you are not going to be doing it alone though, I have chosen a handful of other Guardians to help you on this mission."
Andromedai had started to walk to the armory to pick up some new equipment while Solares kept explaining what was going to happen. "I have a X-1M7 stealth shuttle ready to transport you and the rest of the squad to a safe location where you can scout without being spotted." Andromedai looked over her new sniper rifle before responding, "Where is the fun in that? We should pick off the targets then do a bombing run on the base like we do most of the time." Solares was quick to respond, "They have heavy armor and something else that I have not seen before guarding the base. If you even fired off one shot when they were patrolling, it would end very poorly for both you and the other squad members. I rather all of you come back in one piece and not a pile of ash."
There was a pause as Andromedai walked back to the docking bay where the ship was waiting. "I understand, I have all my gear and equipment, just waiting on the rest of the squad and the pilot." Solares laughed through the microphone, "So easy to convince, and here I thought I was going to have to argue with you. I sent a message to the rest of the squad and they should be meeting you there soon." Andromedai strapped herself into her seat and checked over her gear one more time to make sure everything was in order. The way they were going to be inserted into the drop zone was not by the ship landing but by a halo insertion type drop, used way back in the early twentieth century. They would be dropped from the back of the ship, then free fall to a certain height where an energy shield would be deployed, absorbing all of the impact when they hit the ground.
(Hello everyone and thank you for taking a look at my Destiny RP. As the introduction says, this RP is about a fallen base that has been built in a very short amount of time. It is quite close to the outskirts of the city and must be investigated then ultimately destroyed. The mission must be handled very carefully but the outcome could be catastrophic. As we all know, things do not always go the way they are planed. I plan to have this RP extend far away from the comfort of the city and into the solar system. The fallen are just the beginning, I would say more but I do not want to toss out to many spoilers.)
