Bing. Bing. Bing. The alarm to the microwave went off. The pretty brunette opened it up, taking out her microwaved meal. She was living off these things and ramen noodles until she got her first paycheck from her new job. She just started working at a local bar as the bartender. The recent one quit due to unknown reasons, so she was lucky she got hired. She had a lot of experience in bar-tending, which would really help out. She started tonight. It was a classy bar, which she was happy about. The previous bar she worked out she had to dress kinda trashy, or at least to get good tips. It was half was two, and she was due there around six, they start to get busy around seven. She was a little nervous to be starting on a Friday night, which was usually the busiest night in bar/club history.

When it was a hour until six, Anya decided to go ahead and get ready. She had a shower earlier that day so she didn't have to worry about that. All she really had to do was get dressed. Everytime she went out she never had to do her hair since it was naturally curly, unless she chose to straighten it, but not tonight. Curled was better, especially to keep classy. She put on some high waist shorts, a dark blue color, and a pastel blue shirt that was slightly cropped to show some, not a lot, of skin. She used make-up to cover the nasty scar on her shoulder, it still haunted her to this day. She put on some black boots with heels, only about three inches. She put on some make-up, careful not to go to heavy. Before putting on her lip make-up, she brushed her teeth, very thankful for all that dental work from when she was in her awful teenage years.

After getting ready, she grabbed the keys to her black Jeep cherokee and headed out. The bar was only fifteen minutes away, not too long of a drive.

When arriving there, she parked in the parking lot. It wasn't too packed right now. After spraying on some perfume, she headed inside to get this night started.

____

It had been another long day for Klaus Mikaelson and his brother, Elijah. Keeping everything in order for New Orleans and other important things like that. Klaus downed another glass of whiskey, wincing as it burned going down his throat. "Is there a day where you're not drinking, brother?" The voice of Elijah brought a smirk to Klaus' face. "Ah, if that day comes.. well, I'll be long gone." He said, stretching his arms out. "Well, instead of moping around like a sad little puppy, lets go out, the two of us." Elijah suggested, motioning to the door. "Now, I like the sound of that, Elijah." Klaus said, grabbing up his black leather jacket. "Lets try this new little bar down the block, I heard the service there is quite... to die for." Klaus said, an evil glint in his eyes.

When they arrived at the bar, Klaus took a seat. There was a pretty brunette behind the bar. He didn't recognize her from around town, so he figured she had to have been knew, but there was something about her that seemed a little.. off. She wasn't human, but a witch, and a very powerful witch. Possibly stronger then Devina. "What will you two be having?" The brunette asked, leaning against the counter as she waited for their order. "Two scotchs please." Elijah said. The brunette nodded and went to get their drinks, serving it to them before attending to other customers. Klaus casually sipped on his. "I think its time to find some dinner." He said, scouting the place for a pretty girl he could use, eat, then compel to forget everything.

New Orleans was a beautiful place, full of rich history and odes to the past. Simply gorgeous, as one Cassandra Fredrickson had always thought. Perhaps it was why it always called her back, but this time she was doing her best to hide her real agenda. Unlike most vampires, Cassie had a deep respect for witches and when she found out that they were pretty much on lockdown in this supernatural epicenter... she knew it was time.

She had been in town for a couple of weeks, merely observing, and she was sickened at the amount of her kind that were running about in the day. She had waited nearly three centuries after being turned before she received her Lapis Lazuli ring that granted her that gift. Then again, she had been in good graces of witches because of her overall hatred of vampires that were just in it for the Kicks. Cassie had made a point of it to still protect humans, never killing them when she fed. It was how she was able to lay low for so long.

With a sigh, she pulled on her form hugging black dress, the strapless garment falling just above her knees. She slipped into her four inch peeptoe heels, and looked herself over. She had on simple make up, the red of her lips the brightest feature on her face. Her hair was in soft curls, and she smiled, satisfied. She was going out for some more recon, needing to hit up a few more bars in the area for information.

She headed out the door, and to the bar that had the newest string of interesting. A new bartender. She got there in the relative of fast, and she entered, her old world beauty catching some attention, and she sat at the bar and smiled to the bartender, taking a small phial from her purse. "Hi, can I get some Jack Daniel's?" She ordered her drink and when it came, she poured the phial in and began drinking. Vervain. It added to the burn as it went down, but it ensured she didn't get ambushed from being drugged by the stuff. Now, she would wait.

--

New Orleans. It was just the change of pace Damon needed after everything. With Stefan gone, and Elena being in love with him... it all felt surreal. And, unfortunately he knew it was. It didn't take him long to figure out that Elena still felt something for Stefan, so Damon decided to leave, to let her breathe and figure things out. She needed it and so did he, and perhaps if they were on the same wavelength things could pick back up.

However, bar life in this place was wild, and the girls were gorgeous. He had been sitting in this bar for a while, two bourbons with him always. He still missed Alaric. He was his best friend, despite it all, and he could really use a friend. He had been sitting at the far end of the bar at shift change, and not long after the brunette with a beauty he could only relate to Elena's came in, he noticed the two Originald and then another beautiful brunette whose beauty breathed old world.

It was an epicenter, he could tell that for sure now, and he waved over the bartender. "Hey there, gorgeous." His charming voice spilled from his lips. "Can I get another bourbon?" His smile showed brightly.

A figure slipped in next to him, and he saw the old world brunette. She obviously wasn't going to sit long, but she gave him a smile. "Might want to make yourself less obvious, Salvatore, the Original family is not your only concern in this city. I thought I would be kind enough to forewarn you." She said before she walked back to her seat as a few men sat around her, and then he looked to the bartender after receiving hos drink.

"Thank you. I am relatively new to the area, anywhere you recommend for some good clutural lessons?" He asked her.

The night was going rather smoothly for Anya. So far- no broken bottles or glasses or messed up drink orders. Just a lot of cute guys hitting on her. She smiled and shook her head at a pretty brunette that walked in. After fixing her a glass of some Jack, she gave it to her. It was slow at this moment, so she proceeded to keep herself busy by wiping the counters down and organizing the alcohol. It was starting to die down just a little. A charming voice floated towards her and she turned to be facing a beautiful man. He was truly beautiful, like he belonged on the cover of Vogue. It took her a second to process his request, which she responded with a stiff nod. She could feel the color drain from her cheeks. Could she be any less obvious?

After fixing his bourbon, she brought it to him. The other bartender had already left, so it was only Anya left. Everyone was taken care of and she continued cleaning, then the mystery man spoke to her again. When he asked if she could recommend him somewhere she just shook her head. "Sadly, I can't. I'm new also, just moved here last week. These place is crawling with some locals, maybe you could find something out from one of them?" She asked. An older man came to the bar to order his fifth tequila shot. She went ahead and poured him two, it should hold him over. When he left, she turned back to the man. "I'm Anya... Anya Kingston." She said, holding out her hand, but instantly started to regret that move. Who shook hands anymore? And why was she being such an idiot in front of him? Wanting to quickly change that subject, she poured him another bourbon. "This one is on me." She said, scooting it to him.

~~

Klaus raised a brow when he saw the infamous Damon Salvatore stroll on. What was he doing here? He was about to approach him but stopped when a mystery girl sat beside him. Trying not to be too obvious, he listened in. She was threatening him? Who was this girl? When she walked off, he stood up and walked over to her table. "Sorry, gents, I believe I'll take this one all on my own." He said, shooing the other suitors away. When they left, he sat down across from her. "Klaus, love. But I'm sure you already knew that... since you're here searching for my family, I assume?" He asked. sipping on his bourbon.

He glanced over at Damon who was, no surprise, flirting with the young bartender. That was so Damon-like of him. Always flirting with a pretty girl, then use her as a snack later. Can he really blame him though? She was a beauty. Klaus turned his attention to the girl in front of him. "What do you want with my family? Because whatever it is, love, I can promise you won't get it." He said with a slight smirk. "I wouldn't try either, you may think you know what you're getting into, but you really don't." He said, setting back with his drink in his hand.

Cassandra felt oddly at home surrounded by horny human males looking to get lucky. She was always getting male attention. Always, and after warning the Salvatore vampire who had no clue who she was, she moved to a table where an entourage ensued. They began buying her drinks, but once the sand blonde Original came forth, she watched her entourage leave and he took their place. He began speaking to her, and she looked into het drink. How wrong he was. She hadn't been looking for the Original Family period, but seeing Elijah would have been nice at this point. "Actually, Klaus," she began, "I have no ill will to your family, I actually quite enjoy the company of your brother, Elijah. I just know of the bad blood between you and the Salvatore vampire over there. Just like I know that Marcel isn't exactly merciful to those who break his rules." She said, and her eyes scanned the room for eyes on them and was pleased to find none.

She relaxed, and she noted Elijah heading there way. "To be honest, I came to help out some friends."

"Cassandra?" Elijah asked as he approached, sitting to her other side, and she smiled to him. "The years never change your beauty."

He gently took her hand and placed a light kiss to her knuckles. "I see you never told your brother about me. For obvious reasons I assume."

Elijah chuckled, and turned to Klaus. "Cassandra here was my first sire." He said before grabbing his drink and moving to the bar again. Cassie then looked to Klaus.

"However, Klaus. Since you so graciously warned me, I should tell you. If you really think I need warned, you obviously have no idea who I am or how dangerous I can be." She said, raising her eyes to see Marcel and his own entourage entering the bar. Her eyes narrowed and she went back into her glass before she moved from her table to the bar. Now, to send her message.

--

Damon looked yo the bartender, and smiled st her name, accepting her hand as she introduced herself. "Damon Salvatore." He said back. She was nervous, he could see that a mile away. "By the way, you're doing fine. I'm guessing it's your first night." He said, and as she continued on, his eyes averted to see the woman who gave him a warning speaking with Elijah and Klaus before another group came in and she came over to the bar.

Well, this would be interesting. The black male of the group, one whose name struck him as Marcel from the buzzing around him, approached the bar and smiled to the bartender now. He was attempting to be charming. Most women might have fallen for it, but there were flaws to it. "Scotch, please, and some beer for these guys." He ordered before the brunette walked over again.

"Why don't you guys take the table over there? I'll bring it you your drinks." She offered, and Damon watched the bartender as she got the drinks and waved her back over.

"Hey, do me a favor. You are very pretty, and far from stupid. Just watch yourself around those guys, okay?" He said to her before he finished his drink and on his napkin he wrote down hos phone number and left her a rather hefty tip. He gave her a smile. He knew when to duck out. "Call if you want to hang out." He said

This place was beginning to be too much like what he left behind, but at the same time, he knew it was going to be. All things supernatural became like Mystic Falls. He just hoped for lesstragedy in this town.

Anya laughed and nodded. "That obvious?" She asked, pouring some drinks for the new group of men that came in. "You got it." She said to the guy named Marcel. After getting them their drinks, she walked back over to Damon. She shrugged her shoulders at his warning. "It's okay, I'm a big girl, I can handle a few big guys." She said with a flirty smile on her face. She watched as he wrote down his number on a napkin. "You can count on it." She said, watching as he left. When he was out the door, she turned back to her bartending duties.

"Another scotch, love." Klaus Mikaelson said to the bartender. "Coming up." She said, fixing his drink. "You should really watch out for that one." He said, pointing a forefinger to the door where Damon just walked out of. "I'm sorry?" She asked, tilting her head to the side. "He's a dangerous one." Klaus said, taking a sip of scotch. "Thank you, but I can handle myself." She said, leaving him sitting there alone. "That's what they all say..." He mumbled in his glass.

When her shift was over, Anya grabbed her purse and headed to her car. Getting in, she went to start it, but nothing. She tried for five minutes, but still nothing. She didn't really want to go back in. Sighing, she leaned back in her seat, feeling in her pockets for her phone. When she brought it out, the napkin with Damon's number in it fell out. Picking it up, she bit her lower lip then dialed it, waiting for him to answer,

~

After the conversation with the bartender, he turned his attention back over to the young woman who was joining Marcel and his dandy group at a table near the wall. Smiling to himself, he stood up, drink in hand, and strolled over to them. "Marcel." He said, acknowledging his old friend. "Klaus, my friend, have you met Cassie? Wonderful woman." He said, looking to Cassie. "So I heard." Klaus said, raising a brow. "Mind if I join?" Klaus asked. Marcel nodded, so Klaus sat down. "So, Cassie..." Klaus said, drawing her name out, "what brings you to New Orleans? Surely it can't just be for the raging parties." He asked, sipping on his beverage.

"Now, now, Klaus why the third degree?" Marcel asked, chuckling. "Sorry for my friend here, he can be a little.. blunt." Marcel said, giving Klaus a 'shut-up' look. Rolling his eyes, Klaus examined Cassie. So, she wasn't here for his family? Was it Marcel she wanted? Well, if so, she wasn't the first.

Cassie came over with the tray of drinks for the group, resisting the urge to spike them all with vervain. Of course, having been in town a few weeks and having met Marcel gave her an advantage. Especially with him thinking she was merely 200, when in fact she was 956. Her charm always helped her out, and so did a hunting background. For now though, that would remain her secret. As would her informant who told her of the witches' problems in the area.

She took her seat beside Marcel, and chuckled at the conversation between he and Klaus. "It's quite alright. He's just thorough with his company. Can never trust too quickly, in most cases anyway." She assured Marcel before her eyes shifted to Klaus.

"The parties are a perk, I must say. Not quite what I like, I actually think Chicago in the 20s was better, but Marcel has created a unique atmosphere." She complimented. "I am here as a favor to an old friend really. Asked me to do a few things, and last thing led me here, and it sort of stuck."

She finished her vervain laced drink, and she brushed some hair behind her ear. "But, if you will excuse me, just a moment. I think I found my dinner." She said, her eyes meeting a pretty red head who seated herself at the bar. "Be back in a bit." She winked.

--

It took him a little while after getting in his car to finally leave the bar behind. The events were just odd. The Originals, and a mysterious girl warning him that they aren't the only worry. Then again, the bartender took his mond off of it, so it wasn't all bad. After leaving it behind, he headed to a new bar where he found himself a nice little blonde to feed from.

Once he finished with her and began driving again, he found himself driving back towards the first bar, and just as he approached his phone rang, and he saw the bartender in her car on her phone. He answered, and waved to her, hanging up after hearing her voice.

"Looks like getting turned around worked out well for us both." He chuckled. "What's wrong?"

Anya looked up when he answered and smiled when she saw him. Waving back, she hung the phone up and tossed it in the passenger seat, getting out to meet him. "Well, I guess its just fate." She joked, smiling at him. "Actually, my car won't start. I was wondering if you could give me a lift until I can get it to the shop tomorrow morning? Its ancient, probably older then us, and I am not good with mechanic related things." She said with a whimsical laugh. "I can give you some money for gas, its really not that far from here, maybe twenty minutes." She said, looking at him hopefully. The ringing of her phone brought her back to reality. "Excuse me." She said, reaching in the passenger window to grab her phone. She saw it was her mom who was calling so she answered. "Mom, hey, I can't talk now I'm bu-" "Miss Kingston, this is Officer Wilden calling, I found your number in your moms contact list. I'm calling to regretfully inform you we found your moms body. Her neck was ripped out and by the time our officers got here, it was too late. We need you to come identify her body, and get funeral arrangements," The news was a complete shock to Anya.

Dropping her phone, she felt the familiar flood of emotions coursing through her. Closing her eyes, she tried to control it, but couldn't. All the car windows and the windows to the bar shattered, glass flying everywhere. She felt a piece from her own car window cut her arm, but she didn't pay attention to that. Opening her eyes, she saw the damage she had done. Did she do this? On the phone she heard the officer repeating her name. Picking it up, she confirmed with him she'd be there and hung up. She turned to face Damon with a tear stained face. "Um.. sorry, that was about my mom..." She said softly. She stopped there and looked around at the damage she had done.

~~

"Ah, you're right, love. I'm Marcel's first mate, so I have to make sure everyone checks out." He said, giving her a dazzling smile. Klaus watched as the brunette walked off before turning to Marcel. "I don't know if I trust her." He said, speaking in a low tone. "I'm not sure if I do, either, but we should give her a chance. She could be a good asset to New Orleans." Marcel stated, looking from Klaus to Cassie. "I'm just saying we shouldn't let our guard down around here, what do we really know about this girl?" He spat, his anger getting the best of him.

"Patience, Klaus. Patience. I've dealt with much worse." Marcel said, being sure to keep his voice low. "We'll continue this later, for now, I've got a welcoming party to plan. With our new witch and new vampires." He said, standing up. He was taken off guard when the windows in the whole bar shattered. There was only one person he knew who could do that. Devina. Klaus noticed the look on his face. "What was that?' Klaus asked, standing up. "We're about to find out.." The two walked out and Klaus noticed the young bartender standing with Damon. "A witch... and a powerful one at that." Klaus said.

Cassie was chatting up the red head when everything started happening. She looked deeply into the woman's eyes. "Go home, forget everything you've seen." She compelled and the woman headed off as Cassie stood. That display of power. Few witches had it, and this had to be coming from the onr she was looking for. She had promised centuries ago, to the witch who had granted her the ability to walk in the day, that she would protect her lineage. Andnow that she found them again, she intended on it. Because Cassie, above all else, had been a member of the hunters known as the Alphas. She was honestly still shocked, to this day, that Klaus didn't remember her.

Elijah may have found her half dead and fed her blood to heal, but Klaus had killed her. It was how she had become a vampire, and it was how her hunting clan died. She stood and walked outside and saw the bartender. She clearly hadn't known what she had done and when the Salvatore flashed over to her, her reflexes got the better of her. She had Damon pinned to the far wall, but the witch was still in sight. However, they were out of ear shot. "I'm not going to hurt her. I am trying to help her, now if you don't stay out of my way, I will kill you." She hissed, and she threw him back before flashing back to the bar where Marcel's younger vampires were trying to go after the witch. She kept them all at bay, and turned to the witch.

"You are all imbeciles. I have been here three weeks, and I know better. Witches aren't exactly stupid you know? They drink vervain." She said, and she rolled her eyes, watching as Damon quickly gathered up the witch and flashed away. She looked to Marcel and Klaus, and Elijah finally emerged from the bar as well, and Elijah seemed stunned.

"She is smart, Niklaus. You have to give her that much. Not to mention well trained." Elijah said, offering a cloth to her, and she accepted it and wiped some of the blood tgat had stained her face.

"I lived in a place where you had to be able to fight or die trying." She said, her eyes returning to normal. "I need a drink." She said, heading back into the bar, compelling a few people to begin clean up and she poured herself a drink. She almost blew her own cover... that would have been very stupid of her
Damon couldn't believe what he wad witnessing, nor thay she didn't seem at all aware she had done it. He simply nodded, but it was apparent the entourage of vampires inside caught a wiff, and the mystery woman showed her colors. Now, she would make an interesting acquaintance after all. Still, watching how she fought, it breathed trained... well trained as a matter of fact, but Damon used the opportunity to scoop up Anya and get out of there.

He took her from the city limits, where he had been staying, and looked to her. "I can explain if you need me to, but right now, let me clean up thqt gnarly gash." He said motioning to her arm. Most all witches opposed vampire blood, so he didn't even offer it to her. That qnd he wasn't quite sure if she knew anything about this. One thing was certain. Not even Bonnie with expression conpared to that display. It was raw and untamed, but obviously someone knew vampires that would watch over a witch. He knew he wouldn't have been able to fend off those vampires and get her out safely.

Then again, the mystery woman may have fucked herself in the process. Still, he cleaned up Anya's wound and sat near her. "Now, are you calm? I only ask because I need to know if you are okay enough to give me directions to where you need to go." He asked.

Anya was still in complete shock at everything that happened. Broken glass everywhere, people pouring out of the bar, her injured arm, and most of all... her mother's death. She didn't protest when Damon scooped her up and flashed away. Flashed? She was really confused. When he set her down, she just stared at him. "I'm fine..." She whispered, ignoring the small pain in her arm. "What the hell was that.. Did you do that? Break all those windows? Are you like.. telepathic or whatever its called where you control things with your mind?" She asked, a little alarmed. "No. I'm not okay. I'm not calm. I just found out my mother died.. who can be calm after news like that?" She asked, her voice raising slightly. Those same flood of emotions came flooding back.

The sky started to darken and thunder rumbled in the distance. The wind picked up its speed and the leaves on the trees rustled, falling out and swirling around them. "What's going on... Am I doing this?" She asked, tears streaming down her face. She couldn't stop, the emotions wouldn't stop. They were hitting her like a bulldozer. How was she doing this, if she was even doing it? Or was it someone else? Was Damon doing this? Was he a witch or something? She fell to her knees, burying her head in her hands. The wind just picked up more, and the more upset she seemed to get, the worse everything around them got.

~~

The events in front of him happened quickly. The young witch he had spoken to earlier was in complete shock, could it be possible she didn't know the powers she possessed? When Damon had scooped her up and flashed away, Klaus turned back to go inside, stepping on glass as he did so. "True, brother. That doesn't meant I can trust her, though." Klaus smirked. He was still trying to remember where he saw the girl from, something about her seemed real familiar. "Have we met her? Cassie? In a past life? I can't shake off the dreadful feeling that I've met her before. Somewhere." Klaus said, watching as Cassie poured herself a drink.

"Why don't you go ask her, Niklaus? Even if I knew, it's not my business to say. I'm going to go check on Hayley, to see if she knows of this new witch." Elijah said. Klaus nodded as his brother disappeared. He was about to approach Cassie before Marcel stopped him. "What the hell was that?" He asked Klaus, one hand on his chest. "Now, how should I know?" He asked. "Because I saw you speaking with her. Did you know she was a witch? She broke a rule." Marcel said. "I said hi, but that's it. Are you sure you want to go after her? It seems she possess stronger powers, maybe even stronger then Devina." Klaus said. This rendered Marcel speechless. Klaus seized the opportunity to push past and approach Cassie.

"Let's cut the bullshit, love. I know you know me from somewhere, but problem is, I'm not sure where I know you from- I'm sure I'd never forget a pretty face like yours." He said, and let his eyes travel. "Or any part of you of that matter."

Cassie looked to Klaus as he brought himself over to her and practically demanded he know where hr had seen her before. Marcel wasn't farbehind, but as Klaus allowed his eyes to look her over, she sighed and drank some more. "Beauty of the old world if I recall correctly. That was what you told me I had the last time we crossed paths in Chicago. More than one life, Klaus." She said, her eyes dancing.

Marcel then looked to her. "Did you know about her being a witch? Because you know my rules." He said, and she looked about. It was the three of them, and of the three, she may not have been the oldest, but she had the upper hand. She chuckled. "You knew?"

"No, and obviously she didn't either. Apparently you know very little about witches, Marcel dearest. And your rules are stupid. You try to control what could kill you, smart, but once they figure things out... you're done." She said, and Marcel looked at her. He watched as she moved with a grace he had seen in Rebekah long ago... an older world grace.

"How dare you." Marcel hissed.

"Hey, just telling you the truth. Trust me, I know what its like. I also think the witches are stupid for obliging, but you have an ace. I know you do, and it scares you to see something so raw and uncontrolled... because you know with control how invaluable it can be. An asset of sorts." Cassie said, and she stopped moving and turned on her heels. "Trust me... like you said about me, I could be an asset. I am. I'm 956, and I am an Alpha."

Marcel rose a brow. "Youbtold me 200."

"I'm a woman, I am going to lie about my age every once in a while." She said, and she looked to Klaus. That should have given him his answer. "I'm off boys, need to find some dinner. Putting youngsters in line really works up an appetite." She said, leaving the bar and heading down the street.

--

It was just as Damon feared. Anya had no clue what was going on, and he was far from the person to explain. However, they were far enough away to not be found... for now anyway. He sighed, and he pulled a bottle of bourbon-blood mix from beside the bed and drank. "Anya, you're a witch." He said, "you are doing that because your emotions tie directly into your powers. And you have strength I haven't ever seen before."

He began pacing asnhe drank. Vampires were easy to explain, but witches... he would need a witch to explain that one. He sighed, and looked out with her. She would likely pass out soon if she didn't know how to conteol her power output, so he had a feeling that this would be better to explain to her, sober and when she was calmer.

"It is hard to explain, but I can tell you that those men tonight didn't like what happened, and I think they mean you harm, so for now I will watch over you." He said. "Try to get some rest and I will explain more to you if you ask questions. That is about the only way I will be able to explain at this point."

Anya felt the wave of emotions cease, everything died back down and returned to normal. "A witch..." She said softly, looking down at the ground. "That can't be, witches don't exist." She said, shaking her head. She suddenly felt drained and very tired. "I don't need protection.. I've got to go." She said, going to leave, but stopped, leaning against the chair to support herself. "Why do they want with me? I didn't do anything to them.. at least, I don't think I did..." She said softly. She went to sit on the couch when she started to feel dizzy.

She shook her head. "No, I want to know everything, now." She said, but didn't have the energy to sit up anymore, so instead and laid down on the couch. "This is just a nightmare, right? I'm just dreaming." She said. Deep down, Anya knew that wasn't true, but she had to believe it was. Her mom couldn't be dead, she just couldn't be. She couldn't be a witch, they didn't exist, and why were there people after her? Why did Damon need to 'protect' her? What secrets did New Orleans hold? All these questions floating through her head was enough to make her head want to explode. She closed her eyes for a brief second before giving in to sleep.

Klaus narrowed his eyes at her. Now he remembered. She had Elijah's blood in her, but it was Klaus who finished it off, so many years ago. "How long have you known?" He asked, not taking his eyes off her, even when Marcel made his way to them. "Such a shame they won't, though. Not with Marcel's rule laid down. The witches respect that because they respect him." Klaus said. He hated defending Marcel, but like they always say "keep your friends close, and your enemies closer", which was exactly what he was doing. Marcel and him use to be so close many years ago, after all it was Klaus who turned him and took him under his wing. When he found out about Rebekah and Marcel, that was when he was done. He left him behind when New Orleans was burning to the ground, and Klaus thought he died, along with the town, but instead he was very much alive, and was rebuilding it. His town. Klaus' town that belonged to his family.

"Don't worry about the witch girl.. we'll take care of her, you can count on that." Klaus said, drinking on some scotch. When she left, Klaus turned to Marcel. "I told you I didn't trust her." Klaus said with a "I-Told-You-So" look on his face. "Yeah, yeah. We need to find that girl, and find her quick. I can't lose order of my people because of one witch girl." Marcel said, glaring over at the door. "Me and my boys can handle the witch girl- I need you to keep an eye on Cassie." Marcel said. Klaus rolled his eyes. "So I'm playing babysitter?" He said. finishing off his scotch. Marcel chuckled. "You're my best man." He said before leaving, Klaus watching him as he did so.

Getting up, he grabbed his jacket, a nearby brunette who he compelled to go home with him, and a bottle of scotch from behind the counter.

Cassie was glad to finally get some blood in her sister, a blood bag being her dinner, and she continued to lurk. Now, now that she knew who she was protecting, she knew she had to take the heat off of her somehow. And she had ways... she headed back to her small cottage tgat she had been granted. With a sigh, she closed her eyes and stripped, walking around her house in her bra and underwear before she changed into a pair of black skinny jeans and a black blouse with her sleeves rolled up. She slipped back into her heels and opened up the door to her basement and grabbed her hunter's satchel, and she pulled her hair up and left again.

"Not, let the games begin." She chuckled before she flashed to the house she knew the Originals were holed up in. Elijah answered.

"Cassie? What are you doing here?" He asked.

"Hayley, isn't it? I need to speak to her." she said, and soon the brunette came to the door. "Hayley, right?"

She nodded, and Cassie looked to her. "Come in." She said, and Cassie stood before her. "Who are you?"

"A girl about to take a lot of heat. I know you're a wolf, can I borrow your venom?" She asked, and Hayley looked to her. "I would just take a needle and pull some from a gland in your mouth. Painless."

Hayley nodded and Cassie pulled a sterile needle from her bag and pulled some of the venom from her. "What are you doing? Elijah told me about you, but why protect a witch. Most other vampires wouldn't."

Cassie sighed, hearing Klaus coming. "Because I owe it to someone." She said, flashing away and into the night life of the city. She was on a mission, and she was going to cause a lot of chaos to keep her safe. That witch had a guardian to be reckoned with that was certain.

--

Damon couldn't help her much, but he sat beside her once she finally succumbed to sleep and he brought his hands to her temples, invading her dreams and bringing her to a warm place to attempt to explain it to her.

They were in a beautiful meadow and he was seated beside her. "Anya, I know that this is hard to drink in, but the world isn't as it seems. Vampires, werewolves, hybrids, witches. They all exist. All of them, and I am a vampire, but unlike most, I won't bring any hatm unto you. You are powerful, in fact more powerful a witch than I have ever seen... and because of that you are a target... because if you wanted to, you could bring anyone of the other races to their knees."

He sighed in the dream, and looked to her. "For now, you need to rest, and to cope. I will watch over you. You have had a rough night, and I want to help. Despite what you may hear about me... I know what it's like to lose those who mean a lot to you. Part of why I am here is to try to escape it all, but it seems anywhere there is a supernatural epicenter... tragedy. So sleep, I will be here when you wake up."

After he left her to sleep, Damon locked the doors and closed the curtains. This would be fun...

The dream she had that night was a weird one, and it seemed so real. Damon was in it, and they were in a meadow. The things he said to her just made her want to believe it was a dream, none of that could be real, could it?

The sun peeking in through the curtains woke Anya. She squinted her eyes until she was fully adjusted to the light. Yawning, she sat up on the couch and looked around. Her memories were vague from the previous night, then it all came flooding back to her, and her dream. Why'd it seem so real? She stood up, looking around. "Damon?" She called out. She sat back down and looked at the black T.V, looking around once more for him, she focused back to the T.V. Anya closed her eyes, letting the emotions come out, willingly this time, and directed it to the T.V., the only way she'd know if any of this was real was to experiment. A loud shattering noise broke her out of her trance and she stared in horror at the shattered T.V. "Holy shit..." She mumbled, standing up. She walked over to the shattered T.V., examining in. "I am a witch..." She whispered to herself.

Standing back up, she moved to the window and looked outside. It looked like midday, was she asleep that long? Memories from the night kept running through her mind, the one that stuck with her was her moms death. Frowning, she went to her phone which was laying on the coffee table and picked it up. She saw she had a missed call, and gasped. It was from her mom. She hit the call back button and waited while it rang. "Hey, honey." Anya felt like her heart skipped a beat. "Mom..." She said softly, having to sit down. "Is everything alright, dear?" Anya couldn't speak, she just hung up and let the phone drop to the ground. She was in complete shock. She remembered getting the call from that Officer, claiming her mom was murdered, but if so why was she answering her phone? Someone was playing games, and Anya didn't like it one bit.

. . .

The night was eventful for Klaus. He had found out Cassie came to his house, to get venom for Hayley, so that had to have meant she was planning to use it- on another vampire. Klaus knew it couldn't have been him, his blood was the only kind who could heal werewolf venom in a vampire. He remembered having to heal quite a few people- his old love, Caroline included, but then again that was his fault to begin with. Ah, Caroline, Klaus wondered how she was doing these days, if she was still dating Tyler, or if she had moved onto another. Perhaps Stefan? The two always seemed so cozy with each other.

The thought of that made Klaus chuckle. "What do you find so funny, friend?" Klaus smiled. He didn't have to turn around to know who was behind him. "Marcel, just the mate I needed to see." He said, turning to his old friend. "I could say the same to you." Marcel said. It looked like he was here on strict business. "Did I do anything? Please, be specific." Klaus said in an annoyed tone. "We know that witch is staying with Damon- he left with her last night and no one has seen either of them since. I need to get to her first. We're not the only people after her, there are others out there. As we saw last night, she's very powerful, even more so then Devina. We don't know what she is capable of, especially if she's unaware of her powers." Marcel said, staring at Klaus.

"There are others? Hm." He said thoughtfully. "Change of plans- before we get her, we need to eliminate this other threat. I need Cassie and you to do so- while gone, we'll close in on the girl." Marcel said. Klaus smiled coyly. "Yes sir." He said sarcastically. Klaus watched as Marcel left and when he was gone, he called and left Cassie a message. "We need to talk- meet me at the abandoned warehouse." After sending his message, he headed that way.

Cassie's night had been eventful, and as she looked over her work in the graveyard she smirked. If she didn't know she had done it, she would have assumed hunter, which was good. Three were staked and four were decapitated... then there was the infected one who was unconscious. "Well, this will certainly keep Marcel busy and off of the witch." She smirked, and she walked into her flat once done and changed into a pair of short black shorts and an airy white blouse. She slipped back into her heels and did herself up before checking her phone

Klaus had left her a message, and she nodded. She would leave in a moment. First, she had to handle some business. She called Marcel. "Hello?" He answered.

"Marcel, thank goodness you answered. We have a tiny problem." She said. "I was on my morning walk and I think we've got a hunter... and a good one in town. Eight vampires dead in the graveyard."

"Damnit." He hung up, and Cassie smirked, glad she kept a bit of the werewolf venom still. It would be useful later, but she headed off to where she was to meet Klaus, and when she saw him, she gave a smile.

"Morning. So why am I here?" She asked, looking to her phone. No new messages, so that would at least keep things from blowing up. And the vampire that was infected with werewolf venom would be coming to soon. So a bunch of interesting was about to ensue. Her phone rang, and she held her finger up to Klaus as she spoke to Marcel.

"I thought you said eight." He said.

"There were." She said. He hung up again, and she looked to Klaus. "Sorry, eight dead vampires in the graveyard. You know, that old jazz."

Damon barely left the motel room, and when he finally came back after getting some ice and some breakfast for Anya, he saw she was examining the busted tv, and she looked all around confused. "Hope you like muffins " he said, placing the bag and a cup of coffee down on the table.

"I am sorry abouy last night. I wouldn't have invaded your dreams like that if you hadn't been so keen on an explanation, so I hoped my explanation helped a little " he apologized, sitting down and he looked to his phone. A mysterious text came, and he looked out tue window before he noticed nothing outside.

It was cryptic.

Leave, find a new place. They are closing in .

He sighed, he would at least give Anya time to eat before he headed off with her.

Anya didn't hear Damon come in until he spoke to her. She looked up, her eyes tear-eyed. "My mom.. she's alive... someone is messing with me..." She said softly, looking back down. "Damon.. who is coming after me..." She said softly. She was scared, what if they hurt her mother because she didn't show? She couldn't let that happen. Wiping her tears away, she stood up. "Thanks, for the food. I'm just going to run to the bathroom." She said. Anya disappeared into the bathroom and turned on the bathwater. There was a small window she could probably squeeze through. She turned towards the door and sighed softly.

She felt awful for leaving without telling him, but this was something Anya had to do on her own. Opening the window, she crawled out. They weren't that far up from the ground, so she was able to gracefully leap down. Looking up, she started in a run. She had to get back back to the bar and get her car, she had to get back to her mom. Anya didn't really know the forest here that well, but she could go on instinct. She ran blindly through the wood, stopping to catch her breath, but it seemed like she was just running in circles. "Dammit!" She called out, exasperated.

. . .

Klaus arrived at the warehouse before Cassie, so he pondered what he would say and how he would say it. He turned when Cassie approached. "Hello, love. Looking lovely as ever." He complimented, smiling her way. She held up her finger when she answered a phone call, Klaus could hear on the other line Marcel's voice. Well, well, well, what were these two up to? When she told him what was going on, he looked at her curiously. "Interesting... I wonder who would want to take out vampires?" Klaus asked, "We can discuss that later, for now I'd like to talk about a completely different matter." Klaus said, his hands behind his back.

"You know how you want to protect our little witch? Well, it turns out there is a new enemy coming to town, another group of vampires who want her. Marcel wants us to track them down and eliminate them. I guess, whoever pulled this little incident, wanted Marcel and his men to stay busy, I wouldn't put it past if it was this new little group." Klaus said, eyeing Cassie suspiciously. "So, what do you say, would you like to go on a hunting trip with me?" Klaus asked, smirking, "Your reward- being trusted. You won't survive in New Orleans without trust."

Cassie looked to Klaus at the information he had given her and she rose a curious brow. Other vampires? No vampire cared enough about witches to keep up with them, but... "oh fuck." She whispered, her hands in her hair. This was bad, very bad... "Klaus, I am going on this hunting trip, but if I am right, you should know what we're going up against."

She sighed, sitting down. Being an old hunter herself, she kept up with a lot of them... buy this struck her because only one group she knew used vampires. "It's not vampires, at least not old ones. We're facing some hunters. Ones trained under members of the Five. The group is called Project Purify. They've been looking to end supernatural races in general, but the only way is through witches."

She began pacing. "I mean, they're no where near the hunter level I am. They can't get their hands on what I can, but they're hard players." She explained. "We need to tell Elijah to be on the look out for strange activity. Not even Marcel would stand a hope in hell against them. And if they've figured out wolves are in this area, the vampires of this town are screwed. So, Hayley needs to be kept under special watch more so now than ever too."

She tossed a look to Klaus. "I will meet you back here in an hour, I have to get my things together."

-

Damon allowed Anya some time. If people were messing with her, and that cryptic message was real. She was in danger, and a lot of it. Still, she needed some time still, and he thought nothing of the running bath water until he saw it on the carpet. Fuck. She was running.

He quickly turned off the water and flashed out of the room, searching the woods for her. But there was one standing over her, and Damon reactdd. His hand went into the vampire's chest cavity and came ouy with his heart. He tossed it aside and looked to Anya. "Are you okay to walk?" He asked, but more movement made it harder for him.

He reacted again, scooping her up and flashing off. Thete were limited places to go, but he would figure it out, and when they got back into town, he managed to get to their cars and he placed her in his and began driving. "Where are we going? I'm not letting you go alone. I have no idea who these people are, but we need to get you some place safe."

Anya's ankle started to throb, but she ignored the pain. She tensed up when she sensed someone standing behind her, growling. She closed her eyes, too frightened to turn around, then she heard a familiar voice. She turned to see Damon and relief washed over her, but her gaze turned to the body missing his heart. She stared in horror at what was in front of her, and didn't protest when Damon scooped her up and ran off with her.

She didn't say anything until they were in his car, driving down the highway. "I had it handled myself." She said, looking out the window. She didn't want to tell him where she wanted to go, so she remained silent. "I want you to stop driving." She said, glancing over at him. "I don't want to run, I'm sick of running all the time." She said. "I can make this car stop, Damon. So stop it, or I will." She said. She could feel the emotions coming back, but this time she fought to control them. "Please, Damon. I need to go alone... I need to see my mother..." She said softly, looking down at her hands. The feeling went away and she was calmer now.

. . .

Klaus nodded. He watched as Cassie left. Was what she said true? Could he really trust her? While she was gone, Klaus made a quick call to Elijah to let him in on what Cassie just told him. "Brother, where are you?" Elijah asked, concern in his voice. "I'm with Cassie. You need to have extra eyes on Hayley, and her pack. I'll tell you all about it later, but keep them safe. It looks like we've got visitors who are interested in the head of every supernatural in town- and to get to use they are gathering the strongest witches." Klaus said through gritted teeth. "You mean that girl from last night?" Elijah asked after a couple seconds of silence. "Especially her, and Devina. They are the two strongest in New Orleans. Just watched over Hayley." At the, Klaus hung up.

Cassie sighed as she threw some clothes in a bag and grabbed her hunting satchel. Klaus was about to see Cassie the hunter on steriods... she had become a better hunter as a vampire, so most others, even older, didn't stand a chance against her. She sighed, and got in her car, and when she saw the infected vampire, she killed him, temporarily and threw him in her trunk before meeting up with Klaus.

She looked to him, "Hop in. And um... if you hear strange noises don't ask, okay?" She said as she began driving off towards where she knew they could find information as to where they were holed up. "Look, I know you don't trust me Klaus, but I am taking point. I speak their language, and I have evaded this group long enough to know their patterns."

She pulled over in a diner parking lot and got out, hoping Klaus followed suite. A small town near the French Quarter. This would be perfect. "Now for the bait." She said, allowing the infected vampire out, and she closed her trunk and sat on it. She looked to Klaus, "Let's head in. I may know how to get us an in. So follow my lead." She advised, grabbing her hunting satchel, but before they headed in, the infected vampire rushed at her and a man stepped between them and killed him.

"I had it, you know?" She said, pulling the stake from her bag and the man looked at her.

"You two here on business?" He asked.

"Yeah, actually. We're running a bit late. Navigating the French Quarter is tricky." She said.

"Come with me then. My... boss will want to meet you." He said.

--

Damon pulled off at the next exit, and he got out of the car, slamming the door enough to shake the car. This is why he wasn't nice. Ever. He always got pushed aside, and he began walking. She wanted to go it alone, fine. He would find his car later on, but as soon as he got out of sight he flashed away. He couldn't say anything to her, and when he got into the small town nearby, he saw vampires about, andthe local diner seemed to be bustling. He wondered if this was where they were coming from.

He entered the diner and saw Klaus and the vampire girl, Cassie, there speaking to a man in a closed off room. He cocouldn't hear anything, but he could also smell the basil... this was bad... very bad. But Anya insisted on being alone. But he was feeling a little guilty and quickly left, not knowing he had others on his trail.

Back in a hour, like she said, Klaus got into Cassie's car. He shot her a strange look when she spoke about strange noises in the trunk. "I knew you were an odd one, but this takes it to another level." He joked, chuckling. He sat back in the seat, looking out the window as they drove. When she spoke again, Klaus looked towards her. "Say that I do trust you... lets pretend, why are you really in New Orleans?" He asked her. "Trust is about honesty, love." He said, staring at her as she drove.

It was no time before she was parking in a lot. When she got out, Klaus followed right behind her. Klaus watched as she moved around to the trunk, and when she took out the vampire with the werewolf venom in his system, he put up his guard, glaring at Cassie. "That is one of Marcel's men." He said, giving her a dangerous look. "You're after Marcel, aren't you?" He asked. They were interrupted when the vampire went after her, being staked. He looked at the man who had done it.

Growling, he followed behind Cassie as the man led them inside.

. . .

"Coward!" She yelled after him as he walked off. She got out of his car herself, slamming the door shut, following his actions. She didn't go after him, but went off in the opposite direction. She stopped when she heard growling coming from around her, it was more then one, sounded like three. She stood still, glancing around. "Who's there?" She called out, and she saw. Three vampires, very hungry vampires, came out into the clearing, their eyes were dark, and they looked dangerous. Panicking, those emotions came back and she couldn't stop them this time.

The sky grew darker, the wind picked up and the trees swayed. This didn't stop the vampires from coming towards her. "No!" She screamed. Branches flew off the trees, one had made contact with one of the vampires, directly in the chest. He was down. The other two stopped in their track, staring at Anya. She was panting, and her nose had started to bleed. The two vampires had left, leaving her alone with the dead vampire. Her emotions subsided and everything had calmed back down. When it was all back to normal, she fell to her knees and crawled to a nearby tree, leaning her back against it, her eyes never leaving the body in front of her.

"I killed someone..." She whispered in a raspy voice. Anya dug her head in her knees and started sobbing.

Cassie hadn't answered one of Klaus' questions, but after his last one she gave a lookthat said she would explain herself. Even if it had to be later on. As they sat in the diner before the leader of the hunting squad, something felt quite off to her. Her human instincts and senses weren't the only things that heightened being a vampire. Her hunter ones had too.

"Welcome, welcome, newcomers." The man spoke as he sat before Cassie and Klaus.

"Thank you sir. I caught wind of you guys being here." She said, her eyes gleaming in the lights.

"Hmmm... we tend to be very underground and secretive. The main boss should meet with you as well, but he isn't here with his team. He is off tending other business." He said, his eyes focusing on her as he threw vervain at her. The lack of reaction caused him to calm, and she was sure thay Klaus would ask her why it didn't as well.

"Thank you for that little shower." She half growled, before standing. "What kind of business are you on that requires vampire henchmen?"

He rose an inquisitive brow and looked to Klaus. His gut was off about them. "We have been monitoring activity in the quarter, but never got a hunter inside. They all get killed."

"Just like amateurs. And you will die an ameteur death." She said, her eyes veining over as she flash around killing the hunters before getting to the leader qnd shoving her newly bit wrist in his mouth. "Now, cut the bull. I know what its like to be a turned hunter, so tell me... why are you here, and I will allow you to die a real hunter death."

-

Damon hated emotions. They were too consuming, and he remembered why he kept turning them off now. Because they sucked to have.

He finally got back to Anya, granted still mad, but she was okay... but she had killed one. A vampire. Tough love kid. "Don't want to go it alone now, do you?" He asked before he threw the body over his shoulder. After he removed the branch of course.

He still hadn't forgot her yelling out thqt he was a coward, but she didn't want to see him go on a rave. Thqt much he was sure of. After disposing of the body, rather quickly, he looked to her. "You can do what you need to on your own, but next time, take my help right off. You can be stubborn, just know I will return it." He said.
