Street gangs are a problem that affects an entire community, not just high schoolers. Thus, characters of almost any age or background should be viable.

Please don't take this personally I'm just trying to keep it as is. We're high schoolers so we're more likely to fight with our own fighting styles. Every gang member is a high schooler so it's less likely were going to have guns to fight each other with. I'm keeping every person at a high school age, I won't change that for one person

How does being a high schooler make you more or less likely to have a distinct fighting style?

Furthermore, in Japan, gun laws are much more strict, and heavily regulated. In that case, you're more likely to see melee combat in street fights, even among adults.
And if every gang member is high school age, then it's not a very threatening gang, now is it?

To adults no, bit to every high schooler their the biggest that they have. and exactly about the gun regulations hence why nobody is going to have a gun in the rp. This isn't the triad or the yakuza where their blood thirsty criminals. These are high school kids taking over and threatening other high schoolers. If you don't want to accept that you don't need to join

Dude, just chill. If the CS specifically sets an age limit and the GM has denied your character, than that's it. Sorry your precious little snowflake of a character isn't allowed. Just come up with a different want if you still want in.

I'm not letting a 40 year old yakuza join a high school street gang period. You don't like it then go somewhere else I won't let anyone change my idea for their own convenience

The GM used info in his opening post that's really contradictory to what he's saying now. Furthermore, several PCs are straight up carrying knives around (at school, no less), which escalates the general seriousness of the situation. There's no reason not to include older characters unless you've got a seriously good reason. Even high school punks bother elders all the time.

I never said he was intent on joining the current gang. Rather, they have mutually aligned goals.
Second, I'm not having you change ideas for convenience, I'm asking you to fill out and explain various plot points and restrictions so that they make sense.

This is also contradictory. You don't want to kill, but you do want to use knives, despite knives being pretty lethal.

Can be being the operative word, with a gun it's even more lethal a knife and a street thug using s knife is meant fire then to intimidate you not trying to kill you. He will run out if options then pull out a knife trying to still act tough.

Are You just going to keep poking hole in this until you get your way?

Hi, just an outside observer looking in, (out of curiosity and what not, in the possibility it could look cool. But, as I've noticed, looks like you are full up, or something like that.) Anyway I just have a few comments I'd like to make, if you don't mind.

Why -wouldn't- adults interfere? I mean, Juvenile Street Gangs are RECRUITING GROUNDS, for real gangs. Adults don't just pick random adults to become criminals, but choose children who've been modeled to commit crimes. If an adult gang finds a juvenile gang they like, they'd take them under the wing as a 'franchise' of the adult gang, (and training for the real show.) They do it to get a steady source of good recruits, and of course profit from the other actions of the juvenile gang. And they -protect- the gang. So it'd make sense for adults to interfere.

Also, why would cops fail to catch them? I mean, I can get it if you hid the crime well. But that is more fitting for adult criminals, who've been in the trade longer. PLUS, having a criminal record, well time in prison, is like a Badge of Honor in the Underworld, alongside the crimes you've committed. And being in prison, you'd make New Contacts/Allies/Train Harder, which would help you become a better criminal for round two. And, generally, cops are rather competent at their jobs, and would be able to catch individuals.

Anyway, those were just a few thoughts I had, and wanted to share, just looking in on this.
