The high mountain hall's interior was freezing. The floors were covered with snow which had not melt in decades. Yet, the cold wind could not get into the hold. Instead, a icy breeze brew from deep within rested a mighty beast. It's cold breath could freeze even the hottest of fires. His scales were covered in an icy shield, harder than the iron wielded by the skeletons in his lair. His eyes, though closed, were of a bright blue coloring while his eyelids were translucent.

Though this beast was asleep, a fire was beginning to burn in his heart. After many years of sleep, the beast would wake to the instinctual calling that rang in his ears. His body was changing, his wings had finally begun to develop. He felt the need to fly, to conquer all that was within his grasp. He wanted to be free from the land which had been his by inheritance, He was looking to make a name for himself, to forge his own Life Song. Yet, in his arrogance, he died. He had slept many years and failed to eat metal before he left his hold. His scales were weak and gave way when struck by the swords and spears of the human knights. He had become the definition of arrogance and had died for it.
-Excerpt from the Story of Haj'Gishal the Arrogant

The life of a dragon, especially a hatchling, was hard. Hunted by anybody and everybody. Their scales and hide sold to those capable of buying. Eggs, taken from the eggshelf, would be raised as domestic pets. Yet, the age of dragons has not yet ended. Dragons still live by hiding in caves deep underground of living in hives for protection. Trust runs thin with outsiders. Many times, dragons and dragonlings have died trying to prove that they are stronger or from foolish arrogance in their attempt to kill outsiders. But, change is come. Humans are advancing on lands they previously avoided. Dwarves are encroaching more on the caves of dragons than they had before.

The spring seas is coming and with it will arrive a new wave of hatchlings. Their lives will be far from easy, some might even be orphaned at a young age. But, the spring season also means that the human will be on the move again. The world is changing, whether dragons live is dependent on the decisions made by the hatchlings. Will their decisions lead to the extinction of dragons or will they usher in a new era of life for dragons? That is something only time can tell. But a new age is coming, an Age of Steel, whether the dragons are a part of it is still to be seen.
So, if I perhaps peaked your interest then you are probably reading this. Anyway, you must have guess what your characters will probably be in this roleplay. If not, then let me tell you. You will play either a hatchling, human on a frontier settlement, a dwarf hunting dragons, or an elf who tames dragons. But, these are merely suggestions on what you can be. I am open to thing that are different from the above suggestions. The world is yours to play with after all.

I am not a strict GM but I will have to place a limit on the amount of hatchlings we can. This limit is determined by gender with males have the least amount of eggs. This is due to the common practice of allowing the male hatchlings to fight for control of the eggshelf and often killing their other male siblings in the process. The limit for males will be placed at three while the limit for females will be placed at five. The other races, on the other hand, will always have unlimited spots. This roleplay will mostly be character driven with a very loose plot. The world is changing and a strict plot just wouldn't fit for the roleplay as we go on. Your decisions will influence others around you and will influence what the world is like in the future.

On the topic of the future. There will be one. 'Le Gasp! Indeed, your characters are likely to die off from time to time and you can switch to a son or daughter if they have one or you can switch to a completely different race and play a different angle for a while. Elves are the only race which will stay around after a few generations of humans. Dwarves will be live to be pretty close to the same age as the older elves but they are more likely to die young. Dragons on will be the only race to be around even after an elven character finally dies. Timeskips will happen because, honestly, we have to have a way to advance through the life of a hatchling. More often than not, the timeskip will be a year or so in between what happened last. I will also allow you guys to edit the timeskip on titan pad so that the timeskips actually cover all that happens for the characters over time.

Anyway, if you have any question ask me and I shall answer them as best I can. I will get to work on the OOC as soon as we have four or five people who are interested.
Side note on sibling dragons: If you wish to be sibling dragons to another's character it will be allowed. But, you have to remember that males often kill the other males in their family so you are likely to be the sibling of a female dragon or two. Remember, collaboration is indeed key.

In this RP, are dragons feral creatures or sentient beings? Are they capable of speech? I'm interested in this either way, the feral angle might even be more interesting.

In a sense, dragons are both. To humans, they seem like feral beasts and they often act like it. They are prone to the typical killings that you would see in a dragon. But, they are also very intelligent. Dragons are capable of communicating with each other and learning the languages of any race. It isn't easy for dragons to learn new languages other then their own(Draconic) due to the fact that their vocal cords aren't capable of producing the same sounds. But, despite their intelligence, the older a dragon is the more likely they are to be feral. Eventually, a dragon's mind will reach a point in time where it just starts dying. They go on rampages more often or kill more people or forget events. It is sort of like Alzheimer's but with dragons. To the outside world, a dragon is a feral creature who kills at random. So, you can still play a feral dragon. In fact, it is not rare that young hatchlings who aren't killed on the eggshelf are left to raise itself. Those hatchlings are often the ones who end up being feral.

I would have expected a concept such as this to have a lot more traction. It's unfortunate really.

Interesting indeed. Not sure why this hasn't received more attention; it's a great concept! If things pick up pace, I would love to reserve a male dragon, for the time being. Not sure if I'll be able to handle anymore, as I don't want to overwhelm myself. But, I can, at the least, handle one more character aptly, and I would love to be a part of this if it get any traction.

So reliving Eragon essentially. Potentially awesome, but I think it would need some sort of strong story guidance wherein character pairs would interact frequently. There is almost no background for the world they are in, so it becomes "uh ok.... what to do now...".
