The merman was more than a little surprised by the change, though he really wasn't sure what he had been expecting in the first place. It was strange, but not bad at all from what he could tell so far. It was kind of cool, actually! Kicking his new legs around in the water for a moment, he marveled at how different they felt, though it was definitely a little difficult to get the movement right at first. At least he had seen it enough to remember what it was supposed to look like. After a few seconds of messing around, he noticed Akila reaching out to help him get out of his prison and felt a little embarrassed not to have been paying attention. But, ah well. This was still exciting to him, so of course he would get distracted at least a little...
No, no, they had something important to get done, that was right. A little sheepish that his attention had been so easily pulled from what should have been his primary objective, he took the girl's hand in one of his own and used his other arm to hoist himself onto the edge of the tank. Kicking his legs over was a bit difficult at first, but soon he had it and was ready to jump down. He just hoped that he would know what to do when he touched the ground.
...As it turns out, he really didn't get landing or standing all that well, but he was out! He was on land, and once he stopped falling, he might actually figure out how to move the way he had seen all the humans do so. This thought alone was pretty incredible to him!
