Wyatt flinched as the bell rang, signifying the beginning of the year. Why did he have to go through this? He clutched the small poppet(voodoo doll) in his pocket, always keeping it on his person. The books were heavy as he lugged them down the hall to his locker. It was right next to the backdoor, which luckily that the building was so old, had no fire alarm on it. Spare papers from last year glided to the floor as he opened the locker and began to place his unneeded books inside. If these were the best years of his life, his life was going to suck. He sifted through his things before shutting his locker and heading to his first class, World History. He recognized a few of his past classmates, most of which he didn't remember their names. He knew that he should, but he was terrible with names. He pushed open the door of the classroom, arriving first. He sat in the back right corner, where he always sat if given the option. He waited for a few moments before standing up, leaving his stuff on his desk before returning to the hallway to try to find some of the other Gifted.
Joshua carried his backpack over one shoulder, walking along with a group of his friends. They were all describing their vacations, which all sounded like a blast. He had spent the summer overseas, in England. It had been a fairly enjoyable trip except the excessive amount of rain. There were a lot of cool people, but he was glad to be back home. He unlocked his locker, tossing his backback into the spotless locker. He had made sure to clean out his lock, as he didn't need any reminders of past classes. He smirked as he walked towards the World History classroom, waving to people as he passed.
