Earth - Tahoe Skii Lodge
It took a bit, but Baeden had managed to remove most of the snow that had been kicked up into his face, only for a fresh wave of the white powder to cover him again. Standing stock still for a moment (hearing Augusts' laughter intensifying ten-fold) Baeden just sighed before using his sleeve to remove the snow from his face... again. Truly today just wasn't his day. Free to see again, holding up his arm slightly as a sort of barrier should anything else happen in the next ten seconds, he allowed his eyes to rest on the red-head who was apologizing.
*"Sorry for the snow spray there. I'll get you a free hot chocolate if you like."*
Upon reflex, Baeden found that his head was shaking no to the offer, allowing his arm to relax back down to his side when it seemed that he was finally in the clear.
"No, that's alright. I wasn't looking where I was going." He responded with a light shrug of his shoulders. Suddenly, there was another red-head that seemed to come out of nowhere; River Anderson, as she had introduced herself, and the opposite red-head introduced herself as Annelise Brie and the blonde opposite her as Elisa Brie.
Baeden hadn't even so much as blinked when another joined in, introducing himself as Dustin and voicing his own thoughts of being completely out of their element. Though a handful of years younger than he was, Baeden could already tell that the two of them had a lot in common, though Baeden wouldn't have ever asked for help upfront the way Dustin was. Props to the kid.
*“Uh… Hey, did I kick up some sno-... Enough Anna!"*
His attention was brought back full-circle to the blonde who he had first laid his eyes on before he got covered in snow again. She seemed just as confused as he was when it came to all these other people popping out of nowhere. He missed what had transpired between the two sisters for Elisa to warrent a basic 'shut up' but she had her attention back to him.
*“Hey; I’m really sorry about the snow. I didn't see you there and I know my sister doesn't pay enough attention to notice anyone unless their right in front of her face, especially when we’re betting on chores and food. My name is Eliza Brie; my father owns the lodge. If there’s anything I can do for you; free ski or boarding lessons, meals, event tickets, ect. Just let me know. Uh… I guess that offer could include your friend as well, though it means more work for me and I don’t know how a dying hyena would go at some of the events…”*
Baeden couldn't help but to look over his snow-covered shoulder at August. Dying hyena didn't even cover it at that point, but August seemed to come up for air at the mention of a favor from an exceptionally beautiful woman. Baeden visibly winced, knowing just where his boss' mind was headed so he jumped in before August got a chance.
"No, no... we're good." He said lamely gesturing to the VIP badge he wore at his hip. He hated to flaunt it around like he was bragging, he really wasn't, it was just a gesture that he had pretty much everything covered expense wise... not that he would ever allow a woman to pay for anything for him in the first place, or pull a favor... that just wasn't in his moral code. Especially when it had been his fault. "Though you guys might want to think about putting runway lights up here or something... kinda a high traffic area." He added, a small attempt at a light bit of humor but it didn't seem to take too well. It sounded a lot better in his head. Her attention was swallowed up by the boy, Dustin, giving Baeden a chance to talk with August.
Stepping a few feet away from the growing group, Baeden put a hand on August's shoulder and lowered his voice.
"I know what you're thinking-" He started, but August interrupted.
"Which one you want me to wing for you? Really I'd be happy with any of the three but since I'm in a pretty damn good mood-"
"-And the answer is no." Baeden interrupted, finishing his previous thought before August had interrupted him, also seeming to answer August's question, which had his boss frowning. Feeling like he had to explain like to that of a child, Baeden looked back to the group of three girls (and one guy), making sure that August saw what he saw. "Jail. Bait." Baeden said slowly before pushing August away from him. "Now... go and test out that pool you were talking about or whatever, just leave me alone."
August regained his balance quite easily, keeping himself from toppling into the snow which he was sure had been Baeden's initial intent.
"Alright, alright. You don't gotta spell it out for me." August said brushing away tiny flecks of snow from his leather jacket from his contact with the snow-covered Baeden. Baeden just shook his head, rolling his eyes a bit. Yeah... yeah he did. He watched his boss heading in the opposite direction, having already found a new object for his affections: twins. Groaning inwardly to himself, Baeden shook his head before he heard Elisa addressing him again.
*"Sorry... I don't think I caught your name..."*
Baeden turned to the group, blinking a few times. How exactly did he just get pulled into... whatever this was? Shifting a bit awkwardly on his feet, never really great at talking in front of groups larger than one, he lamely gave his name.
"Cassidy. Baeden Cassidy." He found that his foot had decided to kick at a small clump of snow below him, giving him something to do and to look at to keep from looking stupid... though he was sure that point had already come and gone. "I uh, I'm just looking for something to eat." He added lamely, chancing a look back up to Elisa.
