The lack of faith is strong here. Understandable. But I suppose I have to do something to stamp out the verbal insurrection going on. So here: I'm going to put my plan in a little hider here so that those who want to know what will happen can read it and those that want to be surprised and/or not look too far ahead can avoid reading it. By definition I'll have to ask those who choose to read it not to mention it in the thread so as not to ruin it for the few (if any) that will choose not to read it.

How it goes down

During the second match of the second round the arena will receive news that the Dragonballs which had been hidden off-site were just reported missing. The tournament host and announcer Jake Starr alerts the fighters that the prize had been stolen and requests assistance in returning the Dragonballs. Using the only Dragon Radar that Capsule Corp. has to offer, the thief is tracked down and caught just before he can summon Shenron. Turns out the thief was actually an elderly man who was the previous host to the World Tournament. However he proves to be unwilling to lose his wishes and demonstrates magical ability, turning Jake Starr and several of the fighters that go with him into evil versions of themselves. This is to turn the group that went to stop him into a battle royale so as to allow him enough time to make his wishes while his would-be captors fight amongst themselves. He will have enough time to have his first wish granted, being eternal youth. At this point the story becomes divergent and is dictated by player decisions. Though his second and third wishes are intended to be wealth and immortality, respectively. So might not want him to get all three wishes.

I was just suggesting that the audiance members get a thread string to follow to do something, not a full spoiler. eh. So with that spoiler, maybe have the audiance members notice something amiss with that thing and investigate him, and well, he follows the plot when discovered.

So, even though Duthguy completely distracted me with Dragonball Multiverse, it took us 3 hours to come up with a satisfying collab fight weighting in at respectable length.

Seriously, Guls and Light, just have a PM thread, do your one at a time back and forth posting there, and then post it all to the main thread in one post as THOUGH it were a collab, even though you didn't actually do it as a collab.

It also has to do with the fact that I find collab posts to be huge borderline unreadable messes for me personally, but that's a smaller fact compared to considering how shifting the post-by-post-ing to PMs would possibly change the speed at which responses happened, which seems to be people's general complaint about PbP formatting? It's the same thing except that it doesn't come out all as one huge looking post and it doesn't deprive people of the chance to react to it on a blow-by-blow basis rather than just a longish "yep, that was cool" summary that makes everything huge walls of text.

Stop trying to change everyone's minds around from things that they feel already work for them for their own reasons, or this OOC thread is literally just going to be the same few conversations and arguments repeated over and over XD

Oh, if the all in one post thing is your problem, then I'm afraid you have to take that one up with the GM, and I greatly support the idea of one post fights.

Use Titanpad for collabs its all real time, no sign up, you just enter and go and it also has two different portions one where you can type for your posts and a section to talk OOC in. As long as you don't have a problem with you RP partner reading what you type word for word its perfect.

We did already take it up with the GM, he ruled that whatever people wanted to do was fine, and I respect that which is why I haven't been trying to convince other people not to write in collab posts if that's what they want to do, unlike half of the people here who seem to be hellbent on trying to change my mind to their preferred writing style.

It's not about making the fight shorter or longer for me, it's about giving other characters and players more of a chance to react and interact while it's going on. It feeling less aesthetically pleasing to me personally is a minor and ignorable issue. The implication that you think I prefer PbP fights just to see my avatar more often is kind of dumb though.

Anyways, considering there's already been a GM-ruling about this that says everyone can do what they want as long as they work out something agreeable I'm really getting tired of discussing it and I'd appreciate it if we didn't have to keep doing so

. If you guys want to write collab posts for your fights, that's fine. I don't mind and I've had fun reading them in the past despite my personal dislike of the format. I have tried Titanpad before and dislike it, but thanks for the suggestion.

Having run many role plays this is an unfortunate side effect of roleplays that can not be avoided at times. Its not my roleplay of course, but perhaps if some thing was added in here and there so that the characters who are not fighting have something to do, then it would ease the tension. However I also know that we as characters could probably come up with something to do if we talked to each other. No one ever said we had to just sit there.

You realize, of course, that this is a TOURNAMENT SETTING, right? As in, the rules FORBID US FROM INTERACTING WITH THE FIGHTERS? So what do you think we're gonna do to "react and interact" post a shit load of redundant commentary like Naruto characters do? Seriously, if this were literally any other setting I would agree with you. But the cold, hard fact is, this is a tournament, where other characters are literally stuck in frickin' limbo until the fights are over, so you might as well suck it up and finish the fights quickly so the rest of us don't die of boredom.

But hey, I'm just an asshole who "lacks faith", what do I know?

Double bro you gotta calm down. Nothing is going to come from getting angry about it, its only going to disrupt the RP even more. I am pretty sure that bit about faith was not meant to be insulting like that. A little patience is needed here, I get where your coming from I am still waiting in the stands just like you are. But I intend to do something in my next post so perhaps you can join me if you want so we have something to do.

Uh, no. His other option was to give us something to do! Why is that concept so fucking hard to comprehend? Why is it so goddamned impossible for non-tourney fighters to be out doing something else while the tournament is going on? But noooo, we all apparently HAVE to be at the stupid tournament even if we're not participating because otherwise we don't get to take part in the plot. UGH!

Hm... If your so disgruntled ,why not start your own sort of story thread that can grow later in the RP? Maybe start the seeds of a red ribbon army look alike or what have you.

I can't. Previous posts have already committed Kouta to helping Zabura steal the balls. A decision I'm starting to regret because this tourney doesn't seem to have any end in sight at the rate it's currently going, but I've committed to that plan and it's kind of too late to take it back now. Of course, I wouldn't expect anyone else to have paid any attention to those posts. After all, it's not part of the tourney, which is where all the relevance was placed thanks to the setup.
