Because on top of everything else to do in this RP, Vita also has a life outside of it, and probably other engagements aside from this RP too. And this is on top of making absolutely sure any outstanding characters won't become a problem.
That doesn't mean a three day wait for a character approval isn't ridiculous. I've already offered to take care of the signup thread and lighten Vita's workload so this doesn't happen again, because brushing a legitimate complaint off with excuses won't solve anything.
... why would you just assign random people as co-GM's? That doesn't even make sense. The times it takes several days tend to be when she's not actually certain whether to accept the character or not. Not because it's been missed.

Geez, quite the large amount of drama here. Can't leave for one night to get some sleep without you guys stirring up a fuss. Sheesh. Jk Anyways, I like the co-GM idea, and I suggest Rin, since Vita seems to know Rin IRL. Unless she declines, in which case I'd be more than happy to volunteer if I'm deemed a worthy man.

If Vita isn't completely sure that a character as powerful as Superman can be trusted on the hands of someone she doesn't even know, I totally understand. I'm more than willing to swap out for someone much weaker.

You can be the Martian Manhunter, and won't even have to sacrifice much. Or you can be Captain Marvel (the Billy Batson one), or any number of Superman's inferior clones.

While I might argue that Martian Manhunter could take Supes in a fight (all that mind trickery and shapeshifting, man.) I do really like the Captain Marvel idea. I was also considering going a completely different route; a character who's less punchy punchy. Like a Tony Stark or a Brainiac 5. ...I could also not do a comic book ch-nahhh. That'd be crazy.

Be Karate Kid, your power level is entirely arbitrary and tailored to fit the situation. Sometimes you're good enough to punch down kryptonians n whatnot through sheer kung fu magic, sometimes Batman can fight you evenly in hand to hand if not beat you outright.
And this is on top of making absolutely sure any outstanding characters won't become a problem.
I'd be more inclined to believe this if we didn't already have a whole lot of characters who have all have a myriad of tremendously powerful abilities. The very first CS in the characters section is a super strong and fast magic person who also has a number of ill-defined magical abilities (I suppose if I google I'll find out what they are, but still not in the CS) and, you know, a powerful giant robot that amplifies its spellcasting too. We also have Nono, who's super strong, super tough, can teleport and can easily fight on a galactic scale on her own. I'm sure Vita has a life and hey, sometimes that gets in the way of having fun, but don't talk to me about problematic characters when there's stuff like that in the first page alone.

I had a lot of free time on my hands, so I fleshed out the platoon of expendable Shadow Eternity mooks attacking the Neo-Umbrella site. Don't know why I did it, it was just on a whim.

I note none of them were about to retire after this mission, so they don't hit all the Redshirt traits :p

Also, I'd be up for co-GMs, but I've got another idea. How about... a voting system for allowing new characters? When someone posts a character sheet, we all voice our opinions on it and if it should be allowed. If a majority of us think it should be allowed, they're in! If not, they'll have to either revise it or scrap it entirely. Sounds good?

Mmmm... Probably not. I can see where you're coming from, but it sort of reeks. There's a trust system to be had, and if at least one person isn't trusting of another, the system breaks. For one, all it would take is a concentrated vote for or against a character conducted by several people and it's not even a proper vote but rather bias. The polls would also mean that the person being voted on will have a say and will try to vote in their favor. Another thing is for those who hate voting, they would simply throw things into total anarchy by purposefully tying the votes every time. Trust me, I've actually seen that happen before. Not everything that works for the government works for RPGs. This idea is going to fail to work. The only way it can work is if the party that's voting is limited. I've seen that happen before, and for the most part, the system works. Five people vote yes or no on something, and it's been working for a while.

@Prostagma: The motivation is not the entire organization's motivation. The Leader's motivation is deliberately a secret, because her goal isn't even what she says it is. Motivation is quite frankly something assigned to the other characters for joining the organization. They all have their own reasons. Though when it comes down to it, I believe I mentioned early on that the excuse is the UMMA restricts their activities in the multiverse. I am also attempting to end combat fairly soon, so I seriously doubt it will kill the RP somehow. As for the UMMA, it's established in the first post that the only approach universes aware of the multiverse, and they only become "client" universes by their consent. They only interfere in non-multiverse-aware worlds if a multiversal threat attacks that world. I'm honestly not sure what making them morally grey and ambiguous would do for the RP if I even wanted to do it. I mean, the non-combat stuff I was already considering was(for the UMMA) checking up on Client Worlds, trying to figure out what Shadow Eternity is doing, socializing... I'm not really sure how making the UMMA morally grey and ambiguous would change this. I would also like to think that characters would be played in intelligent ways that defuse random pointless fights. However, I was considering more factions. I was originally going to put them in the OP, but I was worried it would draw too much away from the two main ones while also overcomplicating things. @FacePunch/Incrediblebee: I apologize for the signup wait. I'm a very indecisive person and I tend to take longer on high-power bios when I try to work out if there's something I should suggest. This leads to other bios posted after that one taking longer to be approved because I don't like leaving bios completely unaddressed when I make a post in the signups. I may potentially be selecting a co-GM. @Zero Hex: You obviously haven't read the discussions I've had pertaining these characters. I made Dead Cruiser define each of his character's abilities as well as ensure the mecha would not become involved unless it was absolutely warranted. Similarly, for Nono, she's "nerfed" in that any of her very powerful abilities could cause mass civilian casualities and as such are out of the question unless there's no chance of civilian deaths resulting from them. Other powerful characters are, well, powerful, yes, but I do not feel they reach any unacceptable extremes. Which is why they were accepted. Ideally this RP is made to accommodate a very wide range of power levels, and therefore I am doing my best to accommodate both low power and high power characters, as well as everything in between. @Earnest Evans: From all my experiences this never, ever turns out well and often turns into a drama-filled mess. Players can already voice their concerns and if I find them to be legitimate I will take them into account.

Discussion about limits and whatnot is good, but it's absolutely not reflected in either of the CSes in the Characters tab that I've pointed at. It still says Nono could kick a moon in half, for the most graphic example. That the roleplayer won't use this or that because of IC reasons or agreement between player and GM doesn't mean that the characters do not readily have access to what amounts to power reserves they can use to render threats moot all of a sudden or completely unexplained abilities in their character sheets. So, yes, there are indeed outstanding characters that could easily become problematic and have been approved. EDIT: I don't particularly mean to say "fuck those characters and their players" or anything of the sort, even if it could be taken that way. I just feel they're good examples of approved characters that remain easily problematic.

You haven't even been accepted yet. Really not appropriate to try backseat GMing.

Yes indeed, I continue to wait for my character to be reviewed after 24+ hours. And uh, wow, you must be really adverse to discussion huh? Where, exactly, did I try to backseat GM? Did I tell Vita what to do? Nope. Try and decide on a course of action for the IC? Nope. Say the characters should be re-reviewed or otherwise discarded or nerfed or edited to include the discussed limitations? Nope. Feel free, however, to try and deny that the character sheets I'm looking at, what players check to see the abilities of other characters, don't have undefined powers, the ability to summon a powerful giant robot that also boosts the character's spellcasting or a quote that reads "she can slice a moon in half via drop kick". Or that these abilities aren't potentially troublesome as listed in the character sheets, rendering Roxas' claim that making sure potentially problematic characters don't become an issue moot as far as the review process goes, not only because not a single post to discuss any potentially overpowered abilities has been made in regards to character sheets still waiting for approval but because there's approved sheets in the first page of the characters tab written in such a way that it also makes them potentially problematic or give them immediate ways to power up and remove threats. And again, apologies to the players for singling out these two sheets specifically, it's nothing against them, but they are good examples for the discussion at hand.

All the conversation on these abilities is in the signups, if you want to actually read them you can look there. In fact, I could call for the posts to be ported into the bios posted there but I didn't see that as necessary provided my players remembered they took part in those discussions. I also believe that the GM's word(and possibly links to the posts in question if it's really THAT much of an issue) should be enough to make players realize that all is well with the characters in question and their potential choices will be judged on the same criteria, barring very specific powers I refuse to accept. Just because each post as not ported into the signups tab does not mean these posts somehow do not exist, and I believe I should trust my players to honor these agreements. Flamelord and Dead Cruiser have so far. I have also addressed why I am taking so long with approving bios and I have mentioned potentially seeking a co-GM to alleviate this fact, though I am not completely sure where to begin with doing so.

I already offered to handle sign ups, since it takes you a while. The offer still stands. Barring some cram studying around mid-terms or finals (which I'd alert everyone to in advance), I pull up RPGuild every afternoon, and I'm a pretty fast reader. I'd never leave a CS waiting for more than a few hours.

First of all, I don't fault you for being too busy to tend to the roleplay, it happens, about the only time I'll do so is when a GM completely vanishes from his own game with no warning and turns up posting someplace else, because hey, maybe a bit of warning that the RP was about to be dropped would've been nice. But yeah, if Raineh's going to bring up that I'm not approved yet like it makes that much of a difference, well, yeah, I'm not. Indeed still waiting for that. I've said that discussion about character limits is nice and good, yes? And I'm sure I can find it around. But, when a player wants to learn what another character is capable of, what does he or she do? He or she goes to look at that character's CS, am I correct? And when I did that I found what I've been talking about for the last few posts. I haven't asked for re-reviews. I haven't asked for the characters to be taken down. I haven't even asked for what was discussed to be edited in. I'm just saying that an excuse, provided by another player, about "outstanding characters not becoming a problem" is rather moot, at least until any kind of review or judgement about character abilities is provided.

I'm perfectly willing to supply an explanation for why those characters were accepted when asked, so hopefully it won't be of further concern. I'm going to try and do something about the bios today, as well. I'm also going to try and look over my options for co-GM's, which isn't just the people who have offered since I've been considering approaching some people so it may take a bit.
