_Not scared, excited. Not scared, excited. Not scared…_ It was a chant Nahbi repeated to herself as she bounced on her toes, perched on the platform that was to launch her into her Huntress' journey. Energy thrummed through her body like electricity, and it was all she could do to not jump off the cliff already – or turn tail and run in the opposite direction. Ozpin's and Glynda's voices were white noise in the back of her mind.
"Blah blah, _Emerald Forest_, blah, _partners_, something something something, _you will die_, blah, _relics_, blah blah, _grades_."
This was it. This was what she'd come for. This was what – wait, _die_!?
And with that, the platforms shot forward, launching Nahbi into the forest whether she was ready or not. She screamed as she flew through the air, limbs pinwheeling… but then the screaming dissolved into laughter.
"Whoooooooohoooohohohoohaahaaaaa!" And just like that, the terror she felt turned into delight, ecstasy shooting through her, because she was _doing it_. She was finally going to be the Huntress she'd always dreamed of. Nahbi felt the delight of possibilities rushing through her, just like the wind through her bangs, her long braid whipping behind her. Now she just had to focus on landing.
Focusing, Nahbi used her semblance and teleported to the ground, letting her shoes stumble over the ground for the briefest of moments before teleporting above the trees again. She repeated the process several times, slowing down little by little until she was finally comfortable enough to land. Teleporting to the forest floor one last time, she dropped into a roll… only to end up smacking her back into a tree trunk that she hadn't accounted for.
"Owwww…" she muttered. Nahbi opened her eyes to find her world upside-down. Her head was resting on the ground, her neck at an uncomfortable angle, and her back was against the tree. Her legs were hanging to the sides in clumsy angles. Hey, at least she'd managed to land without seriously injuring anything.
She huffed out a breath – half in relief, half in exasperation – and started the process of righting herself. Once that task was accomplished, Nahbi pushed herself up, rubbing the sore spot on her back.
"Find a partner, find a relic, find a Grimm, kick its ass, don't die," she told herself. "Right. I got this." And once again, the confident grin was back on Nahbi's face, and there was a bounce in her step. "Ok monsters, here I come!" Punching a fist in the air, Nahbi set off deeper into the forest, impatient for the adventure ahead of her.
