“This world… It’s really not much fun anymore, is it…?” “Hn… Not at all. These humans seem to be fine on their own these days… How boring…” “Then let’s go and make a new one~!” And so it was said that this world, Tarnell, was created… ------ So, as you’ve probably guessed from the title, this is an RP that takes components from the DanMachi and Tate no Yuusha light novels and places them both into one world. This world, Tarnell, spans multiple continents and oceans and has the unique distinction of having the deities from Earth’s mythology exist in physical form alongside the humans; the area we’ll be focusing on (for now) will be the only one inhabited by known sentient beings- Velore. Your goal, as adventurers, is to explore the world of Tarnell and see if you can expose its secrets to the world… For better or worse. ----- World and Races Velore is a continent roughly the size of Australia, shaped by the gods to look something similar to a compass rose. Each direction indicated by this supernatural compass is the home of a different race. To the North live the Dwarves, whose sturdiness and metalworking skills are unparalleled. Primarily influenced by the Nordic gods, the Dwarves have named their country Ænor. The region is filled with mountains and lakes, and at its core lays a massive tree not unlike the Yggdrasil from Nordic lore. To the South live the Elementals, humanoid beings who each have a single elemental affinity. Though they appear to be human at first glance, their true forms are formless beings formed by their primary element. Heavily influenced by the Japanese gods, these Elementals have named their country Chiritsu. The country itself has multitudes of biomes to accommodate all types of elementals, but that hasn’t stopped the occasional civil war from breaking out. Elementals usually don’t use weaponry, often preferring to fight with magic stemming from their elemental strengths. To the West live the Humans, who are identical to those that live on Earth. Since they were the first race brought over, no one single pantheon has influenced them too greatly. As such, they have no cultural language and usually only speak the common tongue (which ended up being English, for convenience’s sake). Their country is named Perun and is dotted by various hills and the occasional expansive plain. Rivers thread through the region, making farming a simple affair. To the East live the Draconids, lizard-like humanoids who take characteristics from dragons of both Eastern and Western mythology. As with Elementals, they can maintain a human disguise, though they are usually given away by their lizard-like eyes and horns (so in the end it’s more a matter of preference). Some Draconids develop wings that give them the ability to fly, though the trait is relatively uncommon among the populace. Greatly influenced by Greco-Roman mythology, their country is named Stelaros. Its various beaches and lakes lend themselves to sustaining a fishing-based economy for the populace if necessary. To the Northeast live the Fey, who are what we would consider to be fairies and the like. Neither the gods nor the people they created know where they originated from, and their language is a foreign concept to every god who’s tried to communicate with them. Their country is called the Grand Forest by the rest of the continent, seeing as how the entire region is a very dense deciduous forest with the occasional stream or pond hidden beneath the leaves. To the Northwest live the Beastmen, beings that appear human but have various animalistic features such as tails, claws and the occasional animal ears. Often with sharpened senses and increased strength, Beastmen were primarily influenced by American deities and, as such, don’t have a name for what others consider their ‘country’. Most end up calling it the ‘Neverending Desert’, and for good reason. Many of the towns sustained by the Beastmen are only able to exist due to the existence of oases. The Southwest is the home of the Elves; similar to their portrayal in most media, elves are usually tall and lithe, handling ranged weaponry and magic with ease. Elves were primarily influenced by Celtic deities and have thus named their country Shilwen. Shilwen itself is a country mostly made up of islands; as a result, most travel there is done by boat or by air. Similar to the Draconids, the elves have thus developed an economy based around fishing around the islands. The next region, the Southeast, is home to the Aurea. The Aurea are unique in regards to the fact that they all have avian wings sprouting from their backs and are able to use them for flight. Primarily influenced by Egyptian deities, their country is named Nkher and is well-known for the large savannas that seem to go on endlessly to the edge of the continent. Last, but not least, is the center of the rose. This neutral ground, dubbed Ermoia, is a mixing ground of people from across all eight regions. The region is rife with cultural diffusion and often bustling with activity due to the adventurers that are often seen entering and leaving the region. As a result of this diffusion, some half-breeds have come into existence (though their existence is usually frowned upon by society as a whole). ---- The Gods Gods are unique in regards to the fact that they are all over the world, not just Velore. Some deities decided to take the spotlight in the world, while others opted to step away from it. Either way, their existence in this world has given rise to two things. 1. Taking inspiration from the humans of their last home, these deities have implemented a system that allows them to quantify the abilities of the mortals who work under them. These statistics are only allowed to be modified by the gods who put them unto them, which has created a sort of guild system run by various gods. 2. Legendary weapons- tools used by the gods from their journeys on Earth- have had the powers of the Gods sealed into them by… Well, the Gods themselves. Often taking a form different from the weapon they were well known as, these legendary weapons are able to grow and develop if their wielder ‘feeds’ it with items from the world around them. However, only a single person is allowed to use the legendary weapon, and they obviously don’t get to choose what weapon they use. Once a legendary weapon is bound to a person, they are unable to use any other weapon to use in its stead. However, each legendary weapon comes with access to a hammerspace realm to store items in; furthermore, these weapons do not prohibit the use of magic. However, the traits of the weapon may diminish or amplify the effects thereof. Unlike on Earth, not all deities play the same role as they did before. Some may have gotten bored of playing hero all the time, while others may have tired of playing the loser to the hero’s god-directed victory. On that note, not all deities retain the same primary appearance as they did on Earth. ---- Mechanics All monsters, be it in dungeons or in the world itself, have cores which can be applied to many uses in everyday life (similar to our batteries). The corpses they leave also serve as food and materials for equipment, which makes hunting and dungeon exploration a viable profession in this world. A character can only make a pact with a single God- no more, no less. Making a pact allows for a character’s abilities to grow, but doing so usually ends up directing their relationships and occasionally their skills in a different direction. On that note, gods usually prefer those under them to work together rather than with those of other factions, but those opinions are always subject to change. Each race has its own unique language, the rules of which usually don’t follow the standard languages that we all know of today. Though the words may sound similar, they can mean completely different things… Or not. The common tongue is English, which means that everyone should be able to understand one another perfectly fine regardless. There are three stats that the gods can influence- Strength, Speed and Magic. The higher their numerical values go, the stronger a person is considered to be. There is no cap, but at the same time adventurers often find themselves hitting a wall and being unable to progress further. Fighting stronger enemies is usually a good way to overcome that, though. ------ Form: Name: Age: Race: Appearance: History(optional): Personality: Magic Affinity: Preferred Weapon(s): Strength (stat): Weakness(stat): Affiliation(Deity; leave blank for now): Abilities (non-combative): Other:

Stats act like... Well, I guess the best way to put it in terms would be like modifiers. In layman's terms, you do things related to them better the higher they are. So... You hit harder with 200 Str than you would at 100 (though this is merely a relative term; stats don't mean everything in this world). Magic affinity is... Well, pretty similar to what it sounds like. It basically shows what magic a character is more oriented towards using (assuming they are ever able to get any). There's earth, water, fire, wind, holy, unholy, neutral and almighty (the last one usually being reserved for gods and the like).

I think you need to set limits for the stats, because I don't know what's overpowered and what isn't. Basically, I can't do the stats because I don't know the limits

Well, you can treat it like a rock-paper-scissors-esque system. Strength > Magic > Speed > Strength. I don't think limits need to exist because then everyone would theoretically cap out and then it kind of gets... Ehhh. Alternatively, there's the option to not specialize.

well at the very least, I'd like a scale of what's good for a stat and what isn't.

That's a bit vague; can you be a bit more specific by what you mean by 'good for a stat'?

Well, I'd like an average for stats I suppose. I want to know what's normal and base it off that. For example, say you want someone who's 3 times stronger than normal people. If the average strength stat for normal people is 50 then he needs 150 strength. But if the average is like 10000 then he needs 30000. For things like this, a universal scale is somewhat necessary, because even if you say that stats are kind of relative, there needs to be something to base it off in order for people to gauge the character's relative strength. Well, basically, even though stats are relative, I can't make my character relatively stronger than the average person if I don't know how strong one is.

Ah, alright. Gotcha. Str for an average human is ~20; Mag is ~10; Spe is ~20. Bases vary based on race, which is to be expected. Of course, I was actually planning on secretly rolling stats on my own and tossing them out via PM later lol.

Yeah, we don't have a whole lot as far as limits and rules to follow within the stats. I personally don't care for a number system when it comes to stats, but it's nice to have some guideline to see what the average is at least. Edit: As I see an answer is put up before I post XD

Name: Rein Argentium Age: 16 Race: Human(Shares his body with an beastman-elemental hybrid) Appearance: [link](http://th04.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2014/093/d/3/shadow_of_the_undead_by_art_fiction-d7cuipw.png) Wears a black, pale-yellow trimmed cloak and never takes it off, excluding the hood. History: Rein's past would be almost painfully boring if he weren't involved in an incident a year ago. A few months after becoming an adventurer, he came across a dying elemental; though unable to heal it, Rein allowed it to use his body as a vessel so it could continue to live. However, unable to completely contain its energy, it irreversibly began to break down his body. Though Rain forgave the elemental, he slowly lost his form, along with his ability to speak normally. However, he still manages to make a living as a traveler. Personality: He isn't extremely expressive, making it somewhat difficult to get his thoughts across due to the fact that he can't speak. Rather, he tends to use his ears and eyes to get his message across. Rein has a heroic, but almost disturbingly calm demeanor; he intervenes with anything he sees as unjust, but doesn't show any anger or excitement when doing so. He tends to be selflessly kind, but unfortunately to the point of not caring for himself. Magic Affinity: Unholy Preferred Weapon(s): A hilt-less sword with a five-foot blade and a two-foot grip. It is is rather difficult to wield due to it's size and weight, but has ridiculous reach and power. Strength (stat): 50 STR, 30 MAG Weakness(stat): 10 SPD Affiliation(Deity; leave blank for now): Abilities (non-combative): His eyes glow, so they work somewhat like a flashlight. Other:

Name: Gavin Truss Age: 19 Race: Human Appearance: Gavin is a weak-looking guy with skinny build that has not much for muscle. He has short black hair and greyish-blue eyes. He’s a little shorter than the average human male standing at 5’4”. He has scars all up and down his back from whippings by his father. His skin is a light tan. His hands are callused from many years working farmland. History: “Who, me? No one really find me interesting… Why would you be interested in my past? I mean, I guess. If you insist. I find it a bit embarrassing honestly. Please don’t laugh. I was born and raised a farmer boy. My pops was a rough man; usually beat me if I messed up. He had a real mean whip he used especially for me. He taught me how to farm though. I worked wheat mostly. Sometimes we had potatoes, but mostly wheat. “I was usually sent on errands into town by Pops. Sometimes I got beat up by other kids my age, so I got real good at running. I had some good incentive to be fast too, since Pops beat me whenever I was late. D-do you really need to know this stuff? A-alright. I wasn’t much of a fighter, honest. At least not till some bandits came and attacked my pops’ farm. They were just looking for a place to hide, but they weren’t gonna let us live. Pops died pretty quick, I was honestly sad cuz he was the only family I had. I didn’t want to die in spite of how scared I was, so I picked up one of the farm tools nearby and stabbed the closest guy before running like mad. At least, I tried to run. I got grabbed by his buddy and stabbed in the back. Scared I smacked him with my weapon and I knocked him out. Then I ran. Got some guards and got them to the farm before I passed out from the blood loss. “Pretty lucky I got saved by a healer after that. I couldn’t keep the farm after that incident though. I just couldn’t stop thinking about what happened. So I moved. Took the two-pronged farming fork I used to defend myself with me too. I decided that I’d try to protect folk that need it to try and make up for Pops’ death.” Personality: Chicken. Coward. Pushover. Those are all ample words to describe Gavin. Certainly not something that’d be considered hero material. He finds it impossible to think poorly of someone close to him in spite of how they might treat him. Easily a nervous wreck, but in spite of all of that he tries his best to fight the fear and act, especially when he needs to. He doesn’t like killing people even if they are trying to kill him. If someone needs a hand he’s often the first one to jump in and try and help even if he has no experience in the thing in question. He has little social experience, so he knows no social queues or even when not to say something. Magic Affinity: Holy Preferred Weapon(s): Two-pronged farming fork, any other farm implement. Strength: Speed 75 Weakness: Strength 15 Magic 8 Affiliation: None – At the Moment! Abilities: Sewing – A poor farmer can’t afford to buy clothing, so he’s got to fix it himself whenever it’s torn. Agriculture – In spite of the fact that he has mostly experience with only wheat, his father had drilled into his brain all sorts of farming and agricultural information. Long distance running – Not only is Gavin fairly quick he has the endurance required to run a long distance before becoming too tired. His best distance so far has been 13 miles. Other: He has a high pain tolerance from many years of abuse at the hands of his father and the occasional bully.

Alright, was preoccupied with other things but I'll place my form here for the sake of consistency (I'll drop it in Characters in a second). Name: Lucas Mizumi Age: 17 Race: Human Appearance: Standing at about 5'10", Lucas' most defining feature was... Well, his lack of any. He is kind of tall, true, but his average build and ruffled brown hair don't set him apart from the rest of the bunch. he carries a pair of spears on his back and usually wears light armor under his robe. History: The second son of a successful merchant and an ambassador to the Beastmen, Lucas was never really destined for... Well, much of anything. His brother excelled in his studies and was set to take control of the family business when his father died, while Lucas spent his days training under a friend of his father's. There wasn't much of a decision to make when it came to choosing a profession in life- journeying through the world to make money seemed much more interesting than sitting in a cramped room all day working out documentation. Of course, that's what he told everyone at first. His parents were always occupied with his older brother, who outshone him where they thought it mattered most. Him being able to take on monsters made no difference to them- after all, his parents were confident of the safety they lived in. When they seemingly told him to do whatever he wished and gave him a parting gift of money, Lucas gave them his thanks- no more, no less. He'd use this chance to make himself acknowledged- to make his parents see that he wasn't inferior simply because he couldn't handle the menial tasks of daily life. Personality: Eager to make a name for himself, Lucas is constantly raring to go when exploring and is often the first one to initiate a fight with enemies. His recklessness has caused him a fair amount of pain and many an injury, but he never seems to be deterred by it. Under that glory-hungry facade he puts up, however, is a boy who still hasn't matured enough to face his own doubts head on. By devoting himself to fame, he pushes his own feelings aside and carries on single-minded devotion that... Can't quite be called fanaticism, but can come close to it. Magic Affinity: Water Preferred Weapon(s): Dual Spears Strengths: 40STR, 40AGI Weakness: 5MAG Affiliation: Abilities: Bargaining- At his father's insistence, Lucas learned how to haggle with merchants. As such, he's often made many an item cheaper for himself by doing so. Of course, this doesn't always work. First-Aid- Being injured a lot does have a few advantages here and there; due to how often he gets injured, Lucas has become accustomed to using bandages, splints, healing herbs and whatever else there is to fix himself up. His skill is nowhere near on par with that of professional healers, but it's enough to keep him going for a while. Other: Still has a decent relationship with his older brother. They keep in contact, but not much else.
